"Master! I... he... not... he..." Qing An stammered, his heart racing as he struggled to find the right words. His palms were damp as he held onto Li Xiaonan's sturdy waist, feeling even more anxious.
Hui Nian's lips curled into a wide grin, his expression transforming from confusion to joy. "Qing An, are you okay? Haha, that's great!"
Qing An nodded but then shook his head, his brow furrowing slightly. "No... I'm fine, but Li Gu... Brother Li, he risked himself to save me..."
"Brother Li, what happened?" Heart's Desire took a quick step forward and grasped Li Xiaonan's wrist, channeling a wave of spiritual energy into him.
He relaxed visibly, exhaling deeply with a smile. "It's nothing, nothing at all. He just fell asleep. Though he's a bit weak, he'll be fine after some rest. Qing An... why are you still here? Hurry and help Brother Li get some rest!"
Qing An stood there in a daze for a moment before nodding and draping Li Xiaonan's arm over his shoulder. He tightened his grip around his waist and assisted him into the inner chamber.
Heart's Desire watched their retreating figures with a smile and a nod.
The expression on his face was more enthusiastic than that of any fangirl, as if he were about to declare it true love.
"I want to keep Qing An by Brother Li's side. Hui Nian, what do you think?" Heart's Desire said, hands clasped behind his back and wearing a serene smile.
"Well..." Hui Nian's expression shifted back to one of concern.
He couldn't bear to give up his obedient disciple to such an ambiguous creature.
Heart's Desire looked at Hui Nian and urged, "Qing An has his own destiny with Buddhism, and that Li Xiaonan is part of it."
What destiny! I see it as a calamity! Qing An's mortal heart has already stirred; how could I, as his master, not see this?
"Master, I think we should follow Qing An's wishes; we shouldn't force anything," Hui Nian tilted his head slightly, raising an eyebrow.
Heart's Desire chuckled softly and fell silent.
Foolish Apprentice Ah! This is all Fate. Since you still wish to make this final struggle, I will not stop you, but do not become too obsessed. In the past, Buddhism became overly fixated, dedicating itself to saving all living beings, only to find... in the end... sigh...
Heart's Desire slowly closed his eyes, choosing not to see, hear, or think.
“Xiao Nan, I'm so hot... could you help me take off this last piece of clothing?” Ling Kui giggled, pressing her ample little bunny against Li Xiaonan's arm, her cool fingers gently crawling across his chest. When her fingertip brushed against a small red spot, she smiled seductively and gave it a light pinch.
“Ah...” Li Xiaonan gasped involuntarily.
Great! Finally pushed down by Ling Kui. Wait? No, what’s so great about being pushed down? It should be me pushing down Ling Kui!
Li Xiaonan chuckled softly and grabbed the teasing Rouxia.
“Knock Knock Knock Knock...” A series of Muyu sounds echoed from somewhere.
Li Xiaonan frowned and shouted, “Who is it! It's the middle of the night! Stop knocking!”
A gust of wind blew in, lifting the green curtains on the bed. A slender Little Monk, dressed in a gray robe and sitting cross-legged, was continuously tapping a Muyu. His expression was calm, but when he heard Li Xiaonan’s shout, he opened his clean eyes, revealing a hint of melancholy.
Li Xiaonan gasped sharply and sat up abruptly as sunlight streamed onto his slightly pale face.
What in the world is this dream? The first half was definitely a beautiful spring dream, but the latter half... uh... a nightmare!
“Are you awake?”
A figure blocked the sunlight in front of him.
Li Xiaonan swallowed hard, silently staring at the slender Little Monk before him.
No... it can’t be? Is this nightmare coming true?
“What... what do you want?” Li Xiaonan pulled the blanket closer and shrank back.
Qing An calmly said, "The vegetarian dishes are ready. You can get up and eat now!" After speaking, he turned and left the room.
He... is kind of cute, isn't he?
Even Qing An himself didn't realize that as he left the room, the corners of his mouth were lifted at a forty-five-degree angle.
Li Xiaonan peeked out his head, confirming that Qing An had left before he patted his chest and let out a sigh of relief. He quickly finished all the food on the table and then sat down to meditate.
Five minutes later, he opened his eyes in anger.
What the hell! The True Essence Power has nothing to do with my blood! I've lost so much blood; when will I be able to replenish it? I can't just stay this weak forever...
He instantly deflated. At that moment, Li Xiaonan was like a broken doll powered by a Duracell battery—his True Essence Power was full, but his blood was pitifully thin.
He sighed and summoned the Seven-Level Pagoda. With the cultivation texts for the Pagoda now in his mind, his heart felt restless; after all, he was born to refine tools.
He scanned with his consciousness and found that the second level was filled with demons—at least tens of thousands of them. Unfortunately, it was still far from the one hundred eighty million Buddha's Envoys mentioned in the texts. Li Xiaonan pouted and began studying the texts.
As time passed, his eyes grew brighter, and his shock deepened.
Buddhism is truly remarkable!
The first level of the Seven-Level Pagoda is a Spirit Gathering Array, while the second to sixth levels combine offense and defense in intricate formations. If each level had eighteen million Buddha's Envoys to empower it, its power could instantly obliterate a planet!
Even more powerful is that the Seven-Level Pagoda, true to its name, is an upgradeable treasure with seven stages. When it reaches the seventh level—when it gathers one hundred eighty million Buddha's Envoys—the Seven-Level Pagoda can open a small world of its own where mountains, rivers, living beings, and even humans can thrive. The master of the Seven-Tiered Pagoda would be like a god.
What the hell! Wouldn't I be able to say something like: "Ahem! Let there be light," and there would be light? This is incredible; such a good thing must be cultivated immediately! First, I need to clear out everything in this tower and refine it again. That Tian Yu Dao Ren is such an idiot for turning this fine sacred artifact into something unrecognizable.
He quickly pulled out Chen Yaojin. "Little Jin, I need to refine the Seven-Level Pagoda again. Clear out everything inside first."
Chen Yaojin was taken aback but always followed Li Xiaonan's orders unconditionally. In an instant, the tower was empty.
Li Xiaonan nodded in satisfaction, his hands forming seals as he murmured an ancient melody, steady and ethereal. With the rise and fall of the notes, the gestures he performed became increasingly numerous and rapid. In just a second, Li Xiaonan executed thirty-six different moves, leaving Chen Yaojin stunned.
Wow, the boss really is something else! At this speed, if he keeps it up, will he exhaust himself to death?
The Seven-Level Pagoda in Li Xiaonan's hands transformed continuously; the originally dark blue tower gradually turned golden. Chen Yaojin's face also shifted from pale to a light golden hue, infused with a mist-like aura of divine energy.
"Little Jin! Throw the demon into the second level, hurry!" Li Xiaonan's forehead glistened with sweat, his complexion growing even paler.
He pointed repeatedly in the air, capturing a winged demon. Just as a passage was about to leave his lips, there was a sharp sound followed by a wisp of smoke that carried a burnt odor.
Li Xiaonan rolled his eyes, feeling incredibly frustrated.
What the hell! I hadn't even finished reciting my incantation yet, and it just vanished into thin air! This doesn't make sense! No way! I need to grab another demon with more wings to try again!
In the second level of the Seven-Level Pagoda, the demons looked up in panic at the giant hand looming above them. Suddenly, that hand swooped down, stirring them up like rice being washed.
"Ah! No! Don't! Monster! Mommy! Waaaah!"
A demon with two pairs of wings was grasped by its wings and lifted into the air. The surrounding demons immediately huddled together and scattered in all directions.
Li Xiaonan smirked as he pulled the Four-Winged Demon out of the Seven-Level Pagoda, a beam of golden light showering down upon him.
The demon thrashed violently, its gray eyes suddenly sparkling with intensity as it screeched incoherently.
As Li Xiaonan finished his final note, a wisp of black mist emanated from the demon's forehead. Its wings shriveled away until they became a desiccated mass that fell from its back.
He pressed his palms together and proclaimed reverently, "Disciple pays respects to the Bodhisattva, pays respects to the Golden Body Arhat!" Li Xiaonan exchanged a glance with Chen Yaojin, both grinning widely.
Li Xiaonan shook his head in disbelief. This is incredible! This feeling is amazing! Is this what they mean by transforming demons into Buddhas? What a sense of accomplishment! Let's do it again!
The demons on the second level grew even more frantic as that giant hand occasionally reached in to stir things up, grabbing any demon with four wings or more.
As Li Xiaonan continued to convert demons, he gradually discovered that the higher the rank of the demon, the easier it was to succeed in conversion. Moreover, the Buddha Nature within them was deeper, even enabling Li Xiaonan to convert other demons altogether.
Chen Yaojin, with an excited expression, also joined the Demon Conversion Army. Days passed without him noticing as they converted all demons ranked Four-Winged and above in the second layer. Currently, there were over twelve hundred Buddha's Envoys.
Li Xiaonan clicked his tongue, his dry lips showing an unhealthy pallor. He wiped the virtual sweat from his forehead and said, "Little Jin, what about the more than fifty thousand Little Demons? Conversion is definitely not feasible."
Chen Yaojin frowned. "Boss, I have an idea, but I don't know if you'll agree..."
"Speak!"
"It's like this. I've seen quite a few methods of demon evolution in the Underworld. They can evolve by devouring other demons and forcibly leveling up. I could make the demons in the tower fight among themselves... but..." Chen Yaojin slightly raised his eyes to look at Li Xiaonan, instinctively shrinking his head back in fear of being reprimanded.
"Good, let's do it!" Li Xiaonan nodded.
"Huh?" Chen Yaojin was taken aback; he hadn't expected his usually kind boss to agree so easily.
Li Xiaonan smiled and said, "What do you mean 'huh'? Survival of the fittest, Heaven and Earth Principle; as long as there is good and evil in one's heart, it's enough. Do you think I'm a blockhead like those monks? By the way, Little Jin, why are you suddenly so kind-hearted?"
Chen Yaojin's face flushed from being teased. "I... I don't know either..."
