The moment I closed the door, I suddenly felt as if I was being watched. I looked up and saw someone outside the window holding a phone aimed at me. It was someone I recognized—the person referred to as "Little City" by the receptionist at Baolan Company. It was clear that Baolan had sent him to keep an eye on me.
I sighed, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I sensed that a trial was looming ahead. The new house that Baolan and I had renovated was ready; we just needed to move in. Baolan was very enthusiastic about the move and insisted that it should just be the two of us enjoying our so-called world for two. I knew that at that moment, she would pull out the video, leaving me utterly humiliated.
"Wei Yiming, what's wrong?" Seeing me lost in thought, Ma Gui Fang reached out and touched my face lightly.
"Manager Ma, I..." I grabbed Ma Gui Fang's hand abruptly.
"Hmm?" Ma Gui Fang looked at me with confusion.
"Not now," I said, pushing her away gently.
Ma Gui Fang was taken aback but didn’t seem angry; instead, she smiled lightly. "Wei Yiming, what did you just call me?"
"I..." I scratched my head. "Manager Ma."
"Don't call me Manager Ma anymore." She rolled her eyes at me. "Come to my office early tomorrow morning to work overtime; no absences allowed."
"Okay." I nodded and turned to leave.
Once the door was closed, I took out my phone and dialed a number.
The call connected quickly.
A voice came from inside, "Yiming, how's it going?"
"You really are quite the strategist," I replied with a bitter smile.
"Cut the nonsense; I know everything about your situation."
Cui Xinghai chuckled proudly. "Are you looking for my help?"
"Yes," I nodded.
"Then come back," Cui Xinghai said. "I have something to show you."
"Alright," I agreed, nodding again.
The next day, I arrived at Cui Xinghai's home.
The thing he mentioned was right there in his house.
Cui Xinghai ran a small hotel, and some of the rooms were equipped with cameras.
One of those rooms was the very one where Bao Lan had once stayed.
In that room, Bao Lan had engaged in some unspeakable activities.
That night, Bao Lan had called two people over—one of them was Xiao Guizi, a delicate-looking young man.
Bao Lan first stripped Xiao Guizi of his clothes and then whipped him mercilessly.
After finishing with Xiao Guizi, she removed the boy's clothing again and used shards of glass to scrape his skin.
Finally, Bao Lan tossed a wad of cash in their faces and walked out triumphantly.
I was dumbfounded.
Though I had long suspected that Bao Lan was hiding something from me, I never imagined she could be this kind of person!
"She probably doesn't know this is my family's place," Cui Xinghai shrugged.
"You..." I suddenly turned my head to look at Cui Xinghai. "How do you know about her..."
"Alright, just ask me whatever you want, and I'll tell you," Cui Xinghai waved his hand.
"What exactly happened that day after I got drunk?" I asked impatiently.
"That day, you were drunk, and Manager Ma asked me to help you to your room. Then she came out," Cui Xinghai said. "When I went outside, Manager Ma was crying."
"Crying?" I was taken aback.
"Yeah, she was crying really hard," Cui Xinghai nodded. "I've known Manager Ma for many years, and I've never seen her cry like that before."
"What did she say?" I inquired.
"She said she loved you, but the bride wasn't her," Cui Xinghai replied. "She said Bao Lan didn't love you at all. Even if you got married, you wouldn't have a happy life. She suggested checking things out in the bridal chamber to see if Bao Lan truly loved you."
"And then?" I pressed on.
"Then we helped Manager Ma verify Bao Lan's feelings," Cui Xinghai said. "And as you know, Bao Lan didn't love you at all."
"I..." I was momentarily speechless, unsure of what to say.
"Yiming, actually, this is partly my fault too."
