Xiaohua felt a surge of anger as she saw her parents standing by her grandfather's side.
"What do you mean, Mom and Dad?" she exclaimed. "How can you side with Grandpa? This is clearly his fault. Why aren't you supporting Grandma?"
Her brother, annoyed by Xiaohua's outburst, raised his hand and slapped her. "What do you know, kid? Just shut up!"
Seeing this, her sister-in-law quickly pulled Xiaohua aside. "What’s wrong with you? Don’t you realize that if Grandpa really becomes a wealthy man, you’ll benefit too? Just keep your mouth shut from now on."
Though Xiaohua fell silent at their words, she was seething inside. I noticed her distress and hurried over to check on her.
"Xiaohua, are you okay?" I asked.
She shook her head. "Grandma, I'm fine."
I gently patted her head. "It's good that you're okay. Just try not to be so reckless next time."
"This isn't something you can interfere with," she added.
I glanced at the time and turned to leave, but her brother blocked my path.
"What do you think you're doing?" he demanded.
"Stop right there!"
"I’m not finished talking; who told you to leave?"
I stopped in my tracks, looking at my son, who towered over me by a head, and sneered, "What? You even have to manage how I walk?"
"You've really grown some wings, haven't you?"
"When you were sick as a child, it was me who rushed around, serving you tea and medicine. When you had a fever, I carried you for miles to the hospital. Back then, everyone said you couldn't be cured and told me to give up."
"But I didn't. I carried you back and forth to the hospital until you got better, while I ended up falling ill myself."
"And when you started your business, the whole family was against you. It was me who took out the money I'd saved for half my life to support you."
"Don't you remember any of this?"
My voice trembled as tears welled up in my eyes. My son seemed a bit guilty as I brought up the past.
"I... I..."
"Do you think I don't know?"
"But this is different."
I let out a cold laugh. "It is different. You've grown up, your wings are strong now; you don't need me anymore."
"What you need is money."
I glanced at my daughter-in-law. "And you."
"When you gave birth to Little Flower and bled heavily, who donated blood to you? It was me. I risked my life to give you blood."
"When you traveled abroad, who ran around preparing everything for you? It was me."
"Have you forgotten all of this?"
My daughter-in-law felt a bit embarrassed after hearing my words.
"Mom, those things are in the past; why bring them up now?"
"I'm your mother-in-law. What's wrong with me doing something for you?"
"Besides, you're so good to me; isn't it all for your son?"
"If we're talking about debts, I owe you nothing at all."
I never expected my daughter-in-law to say such a thing; my heart sank in an instant.
"Grandma, you're right. They are just like that, selfish and never considering others."
"Grandma, I support you. Go, just go!"
Xiao Hua pushed me, trying to help me leave.
But just as I was about to walk away, my partner suddenly spoke up.
"Stop!"
"What do you want?"
I turned around to see my partner standing in front of me, looking fierce.
"If you want to leave, you have to leave everything in your suitcase behind."
"All of this was bought with my money; you can't take it."
As he spoke, he knocked the suitcase out of my hands, sending it crashing to the ground.
Clothes spilled out everywhere, scattered across the floor.
He even took away my Asthma Medication that I had with me.
"This is mine too; you can't take it!"
I realized then that he was trying to force me out empty-handed.
Faced with his provocation, I didn't look back.
"The more you do this, the less I'll let him have his way."
"I'm definitely getting a divorce. You better give me every penny of my property; otherwise, we'll see each other in court. And that antique is fake; that person was just my pawn to expose all your dirty secrets. You'll never be able to be with your white moonlight in this lifetime."
I turned and walked away, feeling my back straighten a little.
