Xiar never expected that Uncle Marcus, a formidable warrior capable of single-handedly massacring hundreds of bandits, would be injured while gathering herbs in the Twilight Forest. 0

A warrior of such caliber getting hurt at the edge of the Twilight Forest was unimaginable to him! 0

After receiving the report from Eve, he hurriedly left his study and made his way to the estate's council hall. 0

Upon entering, Xiar glanced at the burly man sitting to the left of the Baron and immediately felt relieved. 0

The man bore a fresh, gruesome scar on his face, and his black armor was marked with deep cuts, but he had not sustained any life-threatening injuries. He nodded in acknowledgment as Xiar entered. 0

"It seems chaos is about to erupt again," the Baron said grimly from his seat, frowning as he looked at Xiar. "Xiar, you are the heir of the family; you must remain calm in any situation. What kind of appearance is this, rushing around in a panic?" 0

"Yes, Father!" Xiar quickly lowered his head in response. 0

"Sit quietly and listen," the Baron clearly intended for him to participate in family matters. 0

Steward Simon, with his silver hair but straight posture, spoke in a gravelly voice. "The barbarians have crossed the Twilight Forest; it seems they have grand ambitions." 0

"What’s there to fear? Ten years ago, we fought them too; they are just a bunch of useless fools. If it weren't for their sneak attacks, they wouldn't have been able to injure me at all!" Marcus licked his lips, his once-gentle expression replaced by that of an enraged Raging Bear. 0

The Baron remained composed, unconsciously tapping his fingers on the table, producing a crisp sound as he calmly issued orders. "Simon, send word to West Spring Fortress and Storm Harbor; we must prepare in advance!" 0

"Yes, my lord." Simon did not take a seat but stood straight behind the Baron and leaned slightly forward to speak softly. "My lord, should we invite Chief Black and Chief Birel for talks? Our three Extended Families are allies after all." 0

The Black Family was indeed Field's clan, responsible for guarding West Spring Fortress and commanding thousands of troops. 0

Meanwhile, the Birel Family was located north of Shining Gold Town. The three Extended Families were closely connected by ties of kinship and had long-standing friendships; even their heirs had grown up together. 0

“Not for now. The Southern Barbarians that Marcus encountered are likely just scouts sent to gather intelligence,” the Baron waved his hand dismissively, his face showing no signs of tension, his voice growing colder. 0

“The Twilight Forest is not easily traversable; even the Storm Legion is powerless against it. Those barbarians will have to pay a heavy price, losing more than half their number to cross. By the time they arrive, there will be nothing left but remnants, hardly a threat.” 0

“What a troublesome autumn this is. Sister Lia has already gone to the northern part of Farn County to hunt down bandits, and now the Southern Barbarians are stirring again, along with the imperial princes…” 0

“Let’s not discuss that!” Before Marcus could finish, the Baron interrupted coldly, his imposing presence growing stronger. “I don’t care what happens elsewhere; in Shining Gold Town, no one can stand against me!” 0

“Marcus, select a group from the miners for training; we need to establish some combat capability as soon as possible.” 0

“Simon, send someone to Storm Harbor to purchase a batch of weapons and equipment. Don’t worry about the cost; I have plenty of gold coins guarding the mine!” 0

Both nodded in agreement. The Baron then glanced at Xiar, who was sitting quietly, and a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. 0

“Xiar, continue your studies diligently. You must pass the assessment of the Imperial Royal Academy!” 0

“Yes, Father.” Xiar shuddered slightly and quickly responded. 0

The Baron showed a hint of approval: “Your desire to train in martial arts is commendable. Have Marcus devise a detailed training plan for you; no slacking off or throwing tantrums.” 0

“I will,” Xiar nodded. 0

With the Evolution Modulator in hand, he felt confident about these exercises; if he truly couldn’t endure it, he could always consume Evolution Points to directly enhance his attributes. 0

“Eat more meat while training. Recently, the Patrol Team has hunted many Forest Wolves and Forest Bears; you can feast on bear paws and gallbladders at will. If you want anything else, have your maid inform Anna; look at how thin you’ve become,” the Baron continued instructing. 0

Xiar nodded and then stood up to bow before leaving with his head slightly lowered. 0

Marcus stepped out of the council hall, extending his large hand like a fan to gently pat Xiar's shoulder. "Young master, there's no need to worry too much; they're just a few barbarian foot soldiers." 0

"I'm sorry for causing you trouble," Xiar said, feeling a bit embarrassed. 0

"Haha, what does that matter? If I hadn't gone to gather herbs, I wouldn't have discovered those scoundrels," Marcus laughed heartily, but then the laughter abruptly stopped as it tugged at the wounds on his face. Gritting his teeth in frustration, he added, "That bastard hid in the water to ambush me; otherwise, I wouldn't have gotten hurt!" 0

Before Xiar could respond, Marcus quickly regained his composure and said, "I've gathered enough herbs. I'll go find Old Cow shortly and have him prepare a medicinal bath for you. You should be able to use it by tomorrow." 0

With that, he hurried off, leaving Xiar standing there in a daze. He connected many thoughts based on the earlier conversation among the three. 0

To the southwest of West Spring Fortress lay the vast Wogul Wasteland, home to many nomadic tribes, some of which were uncivilized barbarians, even including cannibalistic clans. 0

These nomadic peoples had no fixed abode and moved with the water sources. History had recorded numerous instances of them harassing the empire's borders. 0

Ten years ago, the Storm Legion, led by General Black, charged eight hundred miles straight into their main camp and massacred tens of thousands of barbarians. 0

Little did they know that less than ten years later, more barbarians were eyeing the borders again; indeed, they were a group of fools who didn't know when to quit. 0

Xiar's greatest concern was that if the barbarians launched a large-scale invasion, West Spring Fortress would not be able to withstand it with its current forces. By then, even if Storm Harbor rushed to provide support, Shining Gold Town would surely face plunder and slaughter! 0

If that happened, this young master would be in dire straits; he hadn't even enjoyed much of his privileged life before being forced to wander aimlessly… 0

On the second night, Marcus brought the medicinal liquid. 0

One jar of pale liquid was for oral consumption while another large jar was poured into the steaming bathtub. With one hand, he lifted Xiar and placed him into the tub. 0

"Hot! Hot!" Xiar screamed as his skin instantly turned red, resembling a boiled lobster. 0

Not only that, he also felt a surge of heat rising from his stomach, bursting forth into his limbs, and he could clearly sense the changes happening in his body. 0

"Young master, stay in the bath a little longer. The longer you soak, the better the absorption," Marcus said with a mischievous grin. The wounds on his face had already scabbed over and fallen off, revealing fresh pink skin underneath. 0

Xiar suppressed the heat both inside and out, focusing his thoughts to summon the Interface. 0

"Mental 18, Strength 06, Constitution 06, Agility 07." 0

At that moment, the Interface displayed that aside from the Mental Attribute, the other three main attributes began to flicker slightly, and a new line of text appeared below: 0

"Absorbing external energy; host body strengthening in progress..." 0

The medicinal bath continued for over an hour, with Marcus having someone constantly add hot water until Xiar's skin turned completely pale before finally stopping and allowing him to step out. 0

"Mental 18, Strength 07, Constitution 07, Agility 08." 0

All three main attributes had increased by 01, making him secretly praise himself for not recklessly using Evolution Points earlier. 0

Eve approached to help him get dressed, her face flushed red as she dared not look at him closely. 0

"Young master, you can now enjoy the pleasures of being a man," Marcus teased with a series of exaggerated expressions before bursting into laughter and leaving. 0

Xiar forced an awkward smile; the girl beside him was already blushing profusely. He shook his head and sent her away. 0

To him, she resembled a middle school girl from his previous life—too innocent for him to make a move... 0

In the following days, he underwent five more medicinal baths. His body had developed a high resistance to the medicine and could no longer increase his attributes further. 0

"Spirit 18, Strength 09, Constitution 09, Agility 11." 0

He glanced at the Attribute Panel, his gaze focused on the Skill Bar below. With a thought, the Totem Drawing skill appeared, and he muttered to himself, "Since I meet the requirements, let's level it up directly." 0

The Evolution Points began to decrease, and the level indicator behind the skill started to change, jumping from Beginner to Proficient and then directly ascending to Master Level! 0

"Totem Drawing: Master Level." 0

"Hmm, it actually consumed 6 Evolution Points in one go!" Xiar frowned. It had only taken 5 Evolution Points to go from no knowledge to Beginner level, and now it had multiplied several times. 0

However, it was worth it. The Evolution Modulator had transformed him from a complete novice in Mapping into a Mapping master in just a short time, enabling him to engage in totem repair work. He couldn't help but exclaim: 0

"The Evolution Modulator truly lives up to its name!" 0

As the level of Totem Drawing increased, a warm current flowed through his body, finally concentrating in his hands. 0

He felt his hands becoming increasingly nimble, capable of performing all sorts of incredible movements as if each finger had come to life! 0

After adapting for a moment, Xiar opened his notebook, effortlessly sketching out all the basic Inheritance Factors recorded within. 0

A strange smile appeared on his face. "Next up, it's time to pay my cheap teacher a visit!" 0
