In a twist of fate, the person who kidnapped me tossed me aside next to a garbage bin while trying to escape, unable to handle my incessant crying. 0

I was later taken in by an elderly woman, but my life continued to be dramatic. When I was five, my adoptive grandmother passed away due to illness, and her son had no interest in taking care of me, the burden he never wanted. He abandoned me at an orphanage. 0

That should have been the end of it, but the situation became even more absurd when the orphanage closed down. Because I was too old, I struggled to find anyone willing to adopt me. Eventually, I was adopted again, but this time by someone with a tendency for domestic violence. One night, when he was drunk again, I managed to escape from his home. 0

But what could a seven-year-old like me do? I rummaged through trash bins for food, slept on park benches, and even found shelter under bridges during rainy nights. 0

Perhaps fate took pity on me; while begging on the street one day, I was taken in by a single mother with a child. Her family wasn't well-off, yet she insisted on adopting me. I initially thought that my presence would make her son resentful, but he turned out to be kind to me. 0

The woman treated me well and provided me with an opportunity for education. However, in today's society, supporting two children through school is no easy feat. Her son consistently ranked among the top students in his class, while my late start in education and lack of focus meant my grades were merely average—not bad but certainly not exceptional. 0

Watching my adoptive mother's hair grow increasingly gray made me give up on pursuing further studies. After graduating from college, I entered the workforce determinedly, working hard and saving money. 0

Having endured enough hardship, I had no desire to return to that life or see my adoptive mother toil as she once did. 0

Now, as I looked at the man before me—someone who genuinely wanted to reclaim me—I couldn't help but feel resentment. If it weren't for his arrogance back then, I wouldn't have been lost in the first place. I needed to confront him; otherwise, I'd never find peace within myself. 0

"I..." 0

He froze for a few seconds upon hearing my words. With his capabilities, he must have already uncovered every detail of his past long before coming to find me. 0

"Child, I'm sorry. It's all my fault for not taking good care of you back then, which caused you to suffer so much. I know you might not be able to accept this news right away, but your mother heard that we found you. She was so excited that her heart condition flared up, and she’s in the hospital now. Would you like to go see your mother with me?" 0

The words were exactly the same as in my previous life. However, thinking back to the woman I saw in the hospital and the scene of that madwoman crashing into me the day after I left still sent chills down my spine. Yet, I couldn't afford to lose. 0

"Sure, Dad, but I need to talk to my mother first," I replied. 0

"You don't need to tell your mother; I'll inform her directly," he said, visibly relieved at my response. 0

But I quickly added with a teasing tone, "Dad, I'm talking about my current mother." 0

Seeing his awkward expression brought me a sense of satisfaction. 0

"Right, you should let your Adoptive Mother know," he conceded. 0

After all, he was the one in charge; he only felt awkward for a moment before regaining his composure. 0

We set a time to meet. 0

After returning home, I didn't tell my Adoptive Mother about my Biological Parents because that family wasn't quite normal. It was better not to involve my Adoptive Mother in this; sometimes, evil needed to be dealt with by its own kind. 0

I, Niu Hulu Ying, am not someone you can provoke easily. 0

The next day, just after work, I looked at the driver in front of me and the flashy car behind him. Ignoring the curious gazes of my colleagues, I nodded to the driver and got in. 0

As we got closer to the hospital, I felt a sense of unease growing inside me because soon I would see the Madwoman who had driven me to my death in my previous life. 0

Just as we approached the door to the ward, I overheard a conversation inside. 0

“Mom, that girl is really inconsiderate. Dad went all the way to invite her personally, and you ended up in the hospital because of it. She hasn’t even come to see you! Look how long it’s been since the driver went over there. Since she doesn’t want to acknowledge you, why do you insist on bringing her back and making yourself miserable?” 0

The Madwoman, whom I had only caught a glimpse of before and never saw again, was slicing an apple and feeding it to the woman lying in bed while speaking ill of her. 0

In my previous life, I had missed out on such a dramatic scene. 0

Back then, I was unwilling to acknowledge my Biological Parents. It was only after Adoptive Mother persuaded me that I reluctantly came to the hospital to see my mother, but it seemed like it was only the day after the driver had invited me. 0

With a good show unfolding before me, I decided not to miss it. I stopped the driver who was about to enter and pushed him aside. 0

Leaning against the doorframe, I watched the scene inside where maternal affection clashed with filial piety. 0

The woman who seemed to be my mother waved away the apple offered by the other person and looked at her sternly. 0
