"This, this, haha, I think it's a misunderstanding! Just a misunderstanding, Brother! It's like fighting with kids! There's no need for that!" As soon as I mentioned reporting it, Liu Chao hurriedly came over to smooth things over. 0

He laughed heartily and said, "It seems like it's just a misunderstanding among the New Recruits. At most, it's a matter of pride, Brother. Don't take it so seriously!" 0

I pondered for a moment. Since he had already provided an exit, I didn't want to be too harsh. I patted Xu on the shoulder and asked, "Is there anything else?" Xu shook his head. "I'm fine, just can't stand how these guys are so arrogant on our turf." 0

I shot Xu a look to silence him; it was better to de-escalate the situation. After all, there's a saying: trouble will find its own resolution. I turned to pull Old Bi aside and shared my thoughts with him. Old Bi was angry but reasonable enough to understand how to handle such matters—he knew how to diffuse tensions and give each other an out. So, he calmed down his subordinates with a few reassuring words, and we prepared to leave. 0

Just as we were about to go, Liu Chao's voice came from behind us, dripping with sarcasm. "Brother, please hold on." I turned around impatiently to face him. 0

He forced a smile and chuckled a few times. "Brother, you were quite impressive this morning! Your company truly is an elite unit!" 0

I replied impatiently, "Is there something else?" 0

He laughed heartily again. "Haha, Brother, our battalion is also the Waterborne Tiger Camp, and my company is the Tiger Head Company. I admire your professional skills, but in other aspects, it seems you might not be doing so well." He deliberately glanced at our few captured soldiers. 0

"What do you mean by that, Company Commander Liu?" I narrowed my eyes at him. It seemed this guy was deliberately provoking me; if he wanted trouble, I wasn't afraid! 0

"Oh, nothing at all! Haha! Soldiers must have some spirit; how can you fight if you're as docile as children? However, it's pointless if even kids' play can't make it to the stage. I wonder if Company Commander Wang would be interested in sparring?" 0

Spar? Hmph! I sneered a few times. "So you're challenging me, Company Commander Liu?" 0

"Haha, not at all! It's just that our two units are the best in our respective battalions. I simply want to compare comprehensively and see how much difference there is between us." His words were quite eloquent; the soldiers around us caught his meaning and looked at me eagerly, hoping I'd take the bait. 0

How could I give him what he wanted? I smiled and said, "You're too kind, Company Commander Liu. The Tiger Camp and Tiger Head Company sound impressive, but I don't think we need to spar; after all, sharp blades clash—it's probably not beneficial!" 0

"Haha!" Several people behind me burst into laughter, especially Old Bi who laughed the loudest. Of course, after realizing that Liu Chao was targeting our company, Old Bi felt much lighter; he knew I'd step up for sure and thus stood behind me. 0

"Hmph! Company Commander Wang really knows how to use his tongue!" Liu Chao's expression darkened. "If you're afraid, just say so and leave!" 0

"Heh heh! It's not about being afraid; it's just that without any stakes involved, it seems rather dull." 0

"Hmm? Alright then; what are you betting?" 0

I felt amused; I was just waiting for him to place his bet. "How about this: no matter what we compete in, the losing side has to do one hundred push-ups, one hundred single-leg squats, one hundred sit-ups, walk one hundred meters in duck walk style, and then run ten kilometers around the camp! No time limit but must complete everything! Do you dare?!" I stared intently at him. 0

"This... this is great!" I found Liu Chao's expression amusing, probably because he was also wondering how he would handle it if he lost this round. I felt no pressure at all; our entire unit was in high spirits. Many new recruits had taken leave, but most of the veterans were present. What was there to worry about? I wasn't concerned about competing in anything; even if we lost, it didn't matter. After all, this was how we trained, and it wouldn't make much difference. 0

"Commander Liu, let's not have too many people involved. We need to rest in place; a lot of comrades are on leave!" I said half-jokingly. 0

"Hahaha!" Old Bi and a few others burst into laughter behind me. When did Old Bi's sense of humor become so low?! 0

"Hmph!" Liu Chao snorted heavily. "Commander Wang, since you've placed a bet, it's my turn to draw the line, right?" 0

"Sure!" I readily agreed. Honestly, I had no idea what I could possibly be afraid of. 0

"The afternoon's events stemmed from the soldiers' disagreements, so let the soldiers resolve it! Honestly, some of our fighters are feeling a bit defiant; a few capable ones didn't show up, which allowed you guys to take advantage! But remember, this is a friendly competition, not a brawl. Let's keep it civilized. How about this: each side sends three new recruits for a Fighting Competition—best two out of three falls. How does that sound?" 0

"Hehe!" Old Bi laughed again from behind. I shot him a sideways glance; I couldn't help but want to laugh myself. Seriously! Who in the entire unit didn't know that my unit was the strongest? Not just me, but also Xu and Tai Chi, who were both impressive fighters. And although Guan was part of the Special Operations Unit, he was still pretty good among those present. At the very least, we had a big guy like Sheng Xiong! 0

I stifled my laughter and pretended to be serious. "Alright! But I'll add one more condition! If we send three people from our side and win against you, you'll have to do 100 meters of duck walking for us to see! Deal?" 0

Liu Chao looked at me for a moment; he probably couldn't gauge my intentions either. However, I could see him calculating—it was an enticing condition. With Old Bi and me included, there were only about ten of us present, which meant the odds of picking capable fighters were better than calling someone from our unit! He gritted his teeth and said, "Deal!" 0

He clapped his hands and called over a soldier, whispering something in his ear. The soldier quickly ran upstairs; presumably to gather more people. 0

I pointed to the open space in front of the building and said, "Let's do it here! Keep it low-key!" As soon as I said that, he replied eagerly, "Perfect!" 0

Turning to everyone else, I announced, "You all heard that! Since they want to challenge us, we can't back down; this concerns the honor of our entire unit! New comrades, step forward if you're willing!" Everyone exchanged glances until finally Guan, Xu, and Sheng Xiong stepped up. I couldn't help but smile; they were exactly who I had hoped would volunteer! 0

Before long, their chosen fighters came down as well—one tall bald guy stood out prominently; he seemed to be about the same height as Sheng Xiong. The other two were shorter—probably under 170 cm—one was chubby while the other was skinny and looked somewhat awkward. 0

"You three! Don't embarrass me! If you lose, just wait until I deal with you!" Liu Chao said sternly. The three soldiers opposite us wore camouflage uniforms and huddled together for a moment before the skinny one stepped forward first, looking harmless enough. 0

I turned to Guan and smiled. "It's the new recruits' battle! You handle it yourselves! I believe in you!" Guan nodded at Xu and Sheng Xiong and said, "The afternoon's events started because of me; I'll take the lead without hesitation. Please support me from behind!" With that, Guan stepped forward first. 0

As the two faced off against each other, I turned to Liu Chao and said, "Let's keep it controlled!" Liu Chao nodded without saying anything and shouted, "Get ready!" 0

Without a word, the skinny fighter lunged at Guan. Although I hadn't seen Guan fight before, anyone who practiced martial arts should be decent enough. Guan shouted as he kicked low towards the opponent's right leg; the skinny fighter dodged left while closing in on Guan. Without hesitation, Guan swung his right hand like a blade towards the skinny fighter's neck. The skinny fighter seemed caught off guard; he tilted his head away but ended up closer to Guan! 0

He suddenly grabbed Guan's right forearm, twisting it sharply. Guan winced in pain and let out a cry as he was pulled forward two steps. The thin man stumbled, and Guan was on the verge of losing his balance and falling to the ground! 0

At that moment, Guan's left hand shot out, wrapping around the thin man's neck. With a strong pull, he stepped forward with his left foot, stabilizing himself. 0

However, the thin man quickly seized Guan's left hand, pushing it down with force while pressing down on Guan's right shoulder. With a twist and a shove, he managed to lock Guan into a half-turn! 0

"Hey! A joint lock?" Xu exclaimed. I was confused and asked what that meant. Seeing my puzzled expression, Xu explained, "A joint lock refers to a technique that causes abnormal twisting and deformation of the body's joints, inflicting excruciating pain on the opponent and forcing them to surrender. It's commonly seen in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Aikido, Judo, and UFC competitions." 0

Xu paused for a moment before continuing, "From the looks of it, I think he's trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! Guan's moves are powerful but rigid; he's no match for him!" He frowned deeply. 0

"Every move has a backup plan; he’s not using full strength—just forcing Guan to the ground. If they were truly fighting, Guan would have his limbs broken in one round! True joint locks take it to another level by exploiting the limitations of joint movement to push limbs beyond their range of motion, causing bodily harm. This guy is skilled!" Xu murmured. 0

As Xu explained, I saw that Guan had just made a move but remained passive. Now, he had carelessly locked his right leg and was forced to bend over on one leg as his balance faltered. With the opponent's continuous force, Guan could no longer withstand the limitations of the joint lock. His whole body began to tremble violently; sweat poured down his face as pain contorted his features. I couldn't help but shout, "We concede!" 0

The first round went to Tiger Head Company! 0

(To be continued; more excitement tomorrow!) 0
