Ah Huang hesitated for a moment and glanced at the farmer. "Then, I'll take him to the underground garage first?" 0

"Go ahead, then make a trip to the hospital. I'll look around here and contact you if I find anything suspicious." I waved my hand. 0

I had a feeling that these two cases were likely committed by the same person. If the murderer was in this building, with so many police officers around, he probably wouldn't strike again here. I was just curious about what considerations led the killer to choose his victims. 0

Thinking of this, I couldn't help but think of Xi. I wondered if she would be in danger. 0

It was still early, so I looked around, hoping to follow that Japanese man to see if I could discover anything. 0

Hmm, he was here just a moment ago, but now he seemed to have disappeared. I walked down from the viewing platform and looked around, still not seeing him. Looking at Meng Dao, an idea suddenly struck me. I approached the director. "Director Meng!" He didn't even turn his head. "What is it?" 0

"Excuse me, where did Mr. Busho go? A reporter wants to interview him." 0

"He went backstage; they are looking for the model." Meng Dao replied impatiently while busy with his work. 0

"Ah!" I felt a surge of excitement and hurried toward the backstage area. 0

Just as I was about to go around a pillar, I suddenly heard strange voices ahead—stilted Chinese phrases: "The money doesn't matter! What's important is that we have secured the items!" 0

"Yes, Young Master Bu, what’s our next step?" 0

"You need to go to the consulate immediately and find a safe way to transport the items back home. I will not allow my ancestors' belongings to remain in China. For now, I'll keep these items safe; once you have everything arranged, we will leave." 0

"Understood!" 0

Oh? New developments? His ancestors' belongings? What could they be? Could it be cultural relics? My alertness heightened at this point; could the Japanese man be planning to smuggle cultural relics back home? If that were the case, they must not succeed! But would Ah Huang and the others handle this? 0

As I listened intently, suddenly the voices stopped. Just as I was puzzled and about to sneak around for a better look, a girl hurriedly walked around the corner. Upon closer inspection, it was Xi! I was standing by a pillar, and she didn’t notice me as she rushed past. Where was Xi going? Just as I was about to call out to her, I noticed Bu also turned from around the corner. His expression was blank, but his eyes were fixed intently on Xi's back. A chill ran down my spine; there was definitely something off about Bu! 0

I stepped back a bit, trying to see what was happening with the cloth. However, it only took two steps, a strange smile appeared at the corner of its mouth, and then it turned and walked away. 0

After thinking for a moment, I decided to follow Xi. I felt uneasy about her; at this time, their program hadn't started yet. Where could she be going? I hurried a few steps and spotted Xi by the elevator in the distance. I rushed over and pressed the elevator button frantically. 0

After a while, another elevator finally arrived. I quickly stepped inside, hesitated for a moment, and pressed the button to go down. That's right; I wanted to check the live surveillance in the Security Department to see where Xi had gone. 0

Since I was wearing my Work Uniform and had my Work Permit hanging, everything went smoothly. When I arrived at the surveillance room on the third floor, I peered through the glass window and saw that it was still that Buzz Cut guy sitting with a few security guards, reviewing the footage. 0

I knocked on the door, and it opened quickly. A security guard stepped out and asked, "What do you need?" He looked at me warily. 0

I pointed to Buzz Cut. "I'm looking for him!" 0

"Officer, someone is here!" As he spoke, Buzz Cut looked up. "Who is it?" 0

I squeezed inside. "Officer, I'm the one who came with Deputy Captain Huang last time. I want to check the elevator footage; my girlfriend just went down, and it's late. I'm worried something might happen." I tried my best to appear particularly sincere. 0

Buzz Cut looked at me for a moment. "Oh, it's you. I remember you. Alright, let me help you. Which elevator?" 0

"Number 1," I replied quickly. 0

Buzz Cut clicked a few times on his mouse, and suddenly the screen in front of him displayed footage from Elevator 1. However, it was already showing several people going up. He turned back to look at me. 0

I thought for a moment. "Can you show me footage from ten minutes ago? Thank you!" Buzz Cut sighed and operated the keyboard and mouse a few times; the footage changed instantly. Yes, this was it—Xi was still in the elevator! 0

The elevator was going down with Xi and a few others inside. In just a few seconds, it stopped. Upon closer inspection, I realized they had reached the First Floor Lobby; outside, I could clearly see scattered people and the dazzling lights of the lobby. 0

Xi stepped out, and I quickly patted Buzz Cut on the shoulder. "Thank you!" Then I dashed out of the surveillance room and took the stairs down to the lobby. I felt uneasy and wanted to see what she was up to. 0

Stepping out into the lobby, I looked around but couldn't spot her anywhere. Could she have left so quickly? There was still rehearsal left; it didn't seem like she would have left yet. 0

Looking at the security guard beside the door, I thought for a moment and walked over to ask, "Hello, Sergeant. Did you see a beautiful girl in a mid-length red coat just now? Where did she go? We need to rehearse and must find the actress immediately." 0

The guard glanced at me, perhaps noticing my work permit, and quickly replied, "She went to the underground parking garage. A car was waiting here for her to deliver something. I didn't let it park, so it went down to the garage. Just after the car left, your girl arrived, and I told her; she ran after it." 0

Oh, so that's it. Could it be that she called her family to bring her a bag and phone? I thought this was quite possible. However, just thinking about the underground parking made my heart race. I decided I should go take a look. 0

I glanced toward the distant entrance of the underground garage and decided to head down the lobby stairs instead. After taking a couple of steps, I asked the guard, "By the way, do you remember what kind of car it was?" 0

The guard replied, "A black Audi sedan." 0

Wow, she must come from a wealthy family, I thought as I walked back into the lobby. 0

Reaching the bottom of the stairs, I pushed open the door. The temperature dropped suddenly, and a chill hit me; there were no lights, just darkness ahead. 0

It took a while for my eyes to adjust. Outside was brightly lit, but going down into the underground felt like stepping into a pitch-black void. I muttered to myself about how dangerous this construction site was. 0

I took out my phone and brightened the screen to illuminate the stairs as I descended step by step. The dark and silent corridor felt like two completely different worlds compared to the noise outside; my body gradually merged into the darkness. 0

The quieter it became, the more sensitive my senses grew. I felt as if I could hear a pin drop in this eerie silence. Maybe it was just my imagination, but after turning a corner on one level down, I had an unsettling feeling that something was following me. 0

After taking another couple of steps, I couldn't help but glance back—nothing was there! 0

I held my breath and continued down several more steps. The feeling of being followed intensified; it felt as if someone was breathing right behind me. A cool draft seemed to flow around my neck. 0

At that moment, every hair on my body stood on end, and my heart raced wildly. I coughed loudly a few times to bolster my courage and quickened my pace. With one final leap down several steps, I flung open a door leading into the underground parking garage and bolted out without looking back. 0

Fortunately, the lights outside were functioning; although not as dazzling as those in the lobby above, they were bright enough. A few cars were coming in and out nearby. I exhaled deeply and glanced back at the darkness behind me. Damn it! I'll take the elevator back up later; I couldn't help but shiver at that thought. 0

I turned around, hesitated for a moment, and decided to check the first floor to see if I could find that car and Xi. After all, people tend to be lazy; if there were spots available on the first floor, who would bother going up to the second? 0

After circling around, I didn’t spot the black Audi Sedan. I thought to myself that I would have to look on the second floor. Just as I was hesitating, I saw a black Audi Sedan coming up from the second floor and driving onto the ground level from a distance. 0

Did they give the things to Xi on the second floor? I quickly realized this and rushed toward the elevator doors. When I got there, I noticed both elevators were still on the ground floor, with one stopping at the seventeenth floor and heading down. It didn’t make sense for them to be so quick; Xi must be waiting for the elevator on either the second or third floor! 0

I gritted my teeth and turned to run toward the stairwell. I planned to sprint up to the second floor as fast as possible. Bang! I pushed the door open forcefully, and light flooded into the corridor, scattering the darkness as if it had been startled. Taking advantage of the door still being open, I dashed down. 0

The door behind me slammed shut with a creaking sound that seemed to mock me. At that moment, I couldn’t care less; I didn’t even take out my phone and just felt my way down the stairs. Oddly enough, that feeling of being followed had vanished. In just a few moments, I reached the door to the second floor, pushed it open, and ran toward the elevator. 0

After a couple of steps, I cursed under my breath and turned back because I clearly saw that there was no one at the elevator. This meant Xi would only be on the third floor. Sighing, I had no choice but to rush down again. 0

I pulled open the stairwell door and pounded down the stairs again until I burst out onto the third basement level. 0

As soon as I emerged, I froze; outside was suddenly pitch black. There were some lights in the distance, but they didn’t reach this place. I focused on heading toward the direction of the elevator. 0

Just then, I heard a faint murmuring sound, like chanting or singing, with an odd tone and peculiar rhythm. Upon hearing it, my head suddenly felt heavy, and I involuntarily slowed my pace as if I had been drinking; my consciousness began to blur. Where was this? What was I doing here? Two questions instinctively floated into my mind as my awareness was swiftly drawn into a black hole…! 0
