"Whose dog is this?" Old Wei lifted his head and glanced around. "I don't know, but this house belongs to Mo Old Five." I looked up and saw that this house was larger, newer, and more beautiful than any other in the village. There was no yard, but it was clear that the yard had been demolished to build a new house. It seemed to have been constructed in the style of a traditional courtyard, with the dog tied up right in front. 0

The sound of the funeral's suona music clearly drowned out the dog's barking. The procession was still far from where the dog was tied. As I passed by, I deliberately took a good look at the dog. It appeared agitated and restless at first glance, but what struck me most were its blood-red eyes, just like those of Mo Old Three's dog! However, I had seen several dogs like this in the village yesterday, and none of them had red eyes. 0

Mo Old Three had such a dog, and so did Mo Old Five. First came Mo Old Five's Revive, then Mo Old Three's Revive... A flash of lightning seemed to strike my mind as I suddenly had an incredible thought. The Revive might be related to the dogs here! 0

The village's cemetery was quite unique, nestled within a beautiful sea of nameless flowers. However, I paid little attention to it; throughout the entire funeral process, my mind was consumed with thoughts about diseases related to dogs. The more I thought about it, the more I felt that rabies was a strong possibility because I had seen many horror films in my early years. I believed that rabies shared many characteristics with zombies: fear of water and light, stiff joints, biting people, convulsions leading to distorted facial features... I once thought that zombies were actually people suffering from rabies. As for whether rabies patients could Revive, I didn't know. However, encountering such a case felt like an exception; if medical research could be conducted to clarify the principles behind it, that would be great. 0

The entire morning passed in speculation like this. Finally, Old Wei and I hurriedly bid farewell to the village chief and left Mo Ping waiting for the final re-examination notification. As we rode away from the village and turned around a foot of the mountain, I took one last look at it. The atmosphere remained gloomy; the entire village was shrouded in thick fog, appearing mysterious and elusive. Before leaving, I exchanged some final words with the village chief and learned that the dogs in this village were quite famous in the area. Why? Because they were descendants of hybrid dogs; long ago, foreigners had come here and brought several unnamed foreign breeds that interbred with local dogs. Now all the dogs in the village were descendants of those few foreign breeds from back then. Before departing, I specifically instructed that for safety's sake, all dogs should be killed—at least those with red eyes—but it seemed like the village chief didn't take it seriously. With a sigh, I turned my horse around and left. 0

Due to how bizarre this incident was, I never mentioned it to anyone after leaving that village. I researched extensively but found no supporting evidence for my thoughts. However, many years later, while browsing online by chance, I stumbled upon an Italian news report: 0

On January 16th of a certain year, a 79-year-old woman named Marella from a suburb of Naples passed away. That evening, Marella's relatives kept vigil at her home. In the early morning hours, Marella—who had been dead for several hours—suddenly crawled out of her coffin and lunged at her beloved grandson Holly, biting off his ear. Holly's father and other relatives rushed over to pull Marella away but found they couldn't budge her at all; she eventually released him herself before collapsing to the ground with a thud. 0

On April 4th of that year, a 5-year-old boy named Opoli living on the southwestern Tyrrhenian coast of Naples also died from illness; again there was a "Resurrection" phenomenon. That early morning, Opoli—who had been dead for several hours—suddenly crawled stiffly out of his coffin and attacked his wife Patricia who was keeping vigil beside him. After several minutes of struggle with help from others, they finally managed to pry him away. 0

On May 5th at an estate in western Naples, another Zombie Resurrection occurred when a Zombie bit off a 5-year-old boy's throat, resulting in death. 0

During these Zombie Resurrection events, many curious individuals began researching Resurrections. One doctor named Kullani was among them. A man who had been bitten by a Neapolitan Mastiff came to Kullani for treatment; he suddenly realized that those who experienced Resurrections not only shared common traits discovered by Byron but also had one thing in common: all deceased individuals had owned fierce Neapolitan Mastiffs and had close contact with them before their deaths. Kullani began to wonder if Zombies and Resurrections might be caused by a virus—perhaps rabies? He extracted samples from one Zombie and through observation discovered that these Resurrected Zombies indeed carried rabies virus. This strain of rabies virus differed from typical strains; it had mutated and did not perish with its host! 0

Byron implanted this rabies virus into pigs and then slaughtered them; however, there was no reaction from the pigs. Considering that Zombies were all disease-related deaths, scientists then implanted the virus into another sick pig before starving it to death. Just over four hours after its demise, that pig suddenly jumped up and began biting at its iron bars cage—indicating that Zombies were indeed related to rabies virus. 0

Currently online discussions reveal that while scientists cannot bring back the dead yet using certain viruses can induce aggressive behaviors similar to Zombies in infected individuals; for instance combining rabies virus with Measles Virus could allow them to invade an infected person's brain during feverish episodes making them aggressive. A scientist named Andriens subsequently studied symptoms present before Resurrected individuals died; he found that all Resurrected individuals were infected with rabies virus prior to death and also contracted Measles Virus before dying—these two viruses combined into a new virus (Zombie Virus) lying dormant within infected individuals' bodies. After death for several hours post-infection outbreak occurs causing Zombies' Resurrection. 0

Why does Resurrection only happen among those who died from illness? Because their nervous systems remain intact allowing Zombie Virus control over their nervous systems temporarily enabling movement capabilities until their nervous systems cease functioning post-mortem leading to disappearance of Resurrection phenomena. 0

After reading this report above years later left me unsettled as many pieces fell into place regarding earlier events: many years ago Italians or foreigners visited that village bringing along Neapolitan Mastiffs which bred locally leading villagers potentially contracting rabies coinciding with an outbreak of measles making it highly likely for these two viruses mixing together affecting deceased individuals' nervous systems significantly explaining why Mo Old Three’s Revive exhibited limited mobility after resurrection—it seems ten years ago I encountered this terrifying viral hybrid already. 0

I wonder if the villagers at that time followed my advice to deal with the dogs? However, I never thought to report it, so I assume nothing else happened after that. 0

Did everyone think that was the end of the story? You are mistaken. A year or two later, just as I was beginning to forget about it, a new situation arose that made everything seem increasingly mysterious: it was a news report about a case within a case. The gist was that in a certain village in a mountainous area of Guangxi, some villagers, seeking profit, used an ancestral cemetery in the back mountains as cover to cultivate poppies and sold the harvested poppy fruits. During the process of planting the poppies, the villagers discovered a large underground tomb complex. Some individuals took it upon themselves to excavate and steal a few burial items for resale. The television footage even showed a close-up shot, and in that moment, I remembered where it was—the beautiful flower field, which was actually the village's graveyard! 0

At that moment, I finally understood why foreigners had gone to that village back then; they were also after tomb raiding! Knowing this made me doubt my initial judgment. Who knows if Mo Old Three and Mo Old Five, along with their dogs, had contracted some unknown ancient virus from participating in tomb raiding, leading to their resurrection? Or was it because of the poppies? I couldn't be sure. 0

I have never been able to return to that village. That night of thriller seems more distant and hazy with each passing day. Sometimes, when I think back on it, I find myself questioning whether it was all just a dream. Despite encountering the phenomenon of "death and revival," I still wonder if people truly can come back to life after death. To this day, I continue to ask myself this question. 0

(The story of "Revive" has come to an end; stay tuned for "Ghost Eye," "Love Like the Wind," and "The Work of Chasing the Wind." Tomorrow will be even more exciting!) 0
