The temperature dropped dramatically! It was freezing, and I could see nothing around me. Instinctively, I turned to look back, but there was nothing in sight. It was hard to imagine that just a step or two away felt so distant, shrouded in a gray haze. I cautiously took a few steps forward and called out, "Robin! Robin! Otter calling Robin!" There was no response. "Robin, stop playing around! Come out, the old bird is getting angry!" 0

Silence enveloped me. The phone line in my hand hung limply as I coiled it back up and continued to walk slowly forward. Suddenly, I stepped on something and stumbled! Quickly, I crouched down to feel what it was—it was a walkie-talkie! It belonged to Robin! There was no doubt about it! I picked it up; it was the same model as the one in my hand, and the signal light was flashing—it was still on! Instinctively, I called into both walkie-talkies together, "Otter otter, Pathfinder calling!" No response—just silence, not even a crackle. 0

"Otter otter!" The surrounding area remained eerily quiet. 0

Both walkie-talkies had lost signal, as if they were completely jammed! I glanced down at my Electronic Luminous Watch—there was no display at all! 0

Panic began to set in. I took a few more steps, recalling the direction I remembered; I should be nearing the mountain's peak, but there was nothing! 0

Wei! Xuanhua! I shouted loudly! At that moment, I found myself missing Xuanhua's booming voice more than ever! 0

Still no response. I quickly tugged at the phone line; it remained slack—there was no sensation of someone pulling or holding it from the other end. 0

I decided to retreat. As I turned around, I realized I had made a mistake—I had lost my sense of direction. All I could do was follow the phone line back. After a few steps, I felt the air around me begin to swirl violently; it felt like wind but not quite like wind—and it grew stronger, pulling me away. I quickened my pace to retreat but still felt an immense force pulling from behind… 0

The phone line in my hand suddenly tightened as if Xuanhua and the others were reeling it in? Just when I felt lost and helpless, a large hand suddenly reached out from thin air and grabbed my chest. As I focused on it, it was Xuanhua! Xuanhua had come in too?! Before I could think further, I felt my feet give way beneath me, and with a whoosh, my whole body fell! 0

I was suspended in mid-air! Somehow, I had reached the edge of a cliff at the mountain's peak. Xuanhua had half of his body hanging over the edge while gripping my clothes tightly. "Squad Leader, this is dangerous! Look behind you!" 0

I turned around and saw that the Gray Dance Troupe had already floated over the mountain peak and was now slowly dissipating in the air not far away! 0

Had the mist brought me to the edge of the mountain? With Xuanhua's help, I climbed back onto solid ground at the mountain's summit. Lying on the ground, I couldn't calm down for a long time. What kind of mist was this?! Had it taken our three comrades away? Where had they gone? 0

At that moment, Wei approached me. "Wang Pai, are you okay? I saw you go in, and the fog started to rise quickly into the air. It looked like it was about to reach the mountain peak. I had no choice but to use my belt to tie myself and go in after you. I didn't expect you to almost fall." 0

That's not true, I thought to myself. In the gray mist, it felt as flat as the ground; if you didn't pull me, I wouldn't fall. However, I feared I might not be here much longer. 0

After catching my breath for a while, I opened the intercom and reported the situation to both command levels. They ordered us to wait in place, as the rescue teams were already ascending from all directions and would verify my report once they regrouped. 0

I held onto a glimmer of hope that the cable crew had gotten lost in another direction. However, the final outcome was that no one was found. We were questioned and instructed not to disclose these matters to the outside world. Then we returned to Base, and the soldiers who disappeared in the mist were reported as having died in the line of duty. 0

This was something that puzzled me for years. Later, I researched countless materials and discovered that mysterious disappearances had occurred in various countries around the world, with military personnel going missing frequently. For example: 0

On August 8, 1915, British Army and New Zealand Forces were deployed in Turkey's Gallipoli region. A British Army unit of over 800 men was maneuvering towards a high ground under clear skies with few clouds. There were bread-like clouds floating above their position, while a thick gray mist enveloped the mountain they aimed to ascend, though the peak was faintly visible against a clear sky below. As the troops climbed higher, they gradually vanished into the mist. After the last soldier disappeared into it, an astonishing scene unfolded: the entire unit silently vanished without a trace; no soldier emerged from the gray fog. 0

Minutes later, part of the gray mist began to dissipate while most slowly condensed into an enormous fog mass that rose slowly. Eventually, it merged with a few floating clouds above the British Army's position before drifting away quietly. Once the mist cleared from the mountaintop, everything fell silent; vegetation on the mountain was clearly visible, yet all 800 men had vanished without a trace—800 lives dissipated like that mysterious gray fog! A New Zealand soldier stationed about 60 meters away from them witnessed this event firsthand; he observed every moment as those 800 British soldiers climbed towards their fate until the last one disappeared into the mountain's mist. 0

When it became apparent that all members of the British Army had gone missing, this soldier reported it up the chain of command. The British Army devised a meticulous search plan and conducted extensive searches but found nothing. They believed it was highly likely that all personnel had been captured by Turkish forces. After the war ended, Britain requested Turkey to return those missing 800 British soldiers and demanded repatriation of any surviving prisoners; however, Turkey insisted they had never seen such a unit. Since then, none of those 800 soldiers have ever been seen again. They seemed to have entered a mysterious realm, becoming one of the greatest unsolved cases in British military history. 0

Coincidentally, during World War I, the French Army also faced a similar fate of inexplicable disappearance. Two entire battalions of hundreds of taxi drivers stationed at Maldon Heights mysteriously vanished without a sound, despite extensive searches conducted by the French Army. 0

The largest case of collective military disappearance unfortunately involved Spain and occurred around 1711—over 4,000 Spanish soldiers camped overnight on Pailian Mountain while awaiting reinforcements. When reinforcements arrived at their campsite the next morning, they found fires still burning and horses and cannons untouched; yet this massive force had completely disappeared without a trace. Unlike the British Army's case, this Spanish unit left behind some horses and artillery; however, all personnel vanished just like those from both British and French armies—mysteriously lost without explanation. This mysterious disappearance is clearly documented in official Spanish records. 0

A more recent case occurred during our Sino-Japanese War: In early January 1970, during the defense of Nanjing, the Nationalist government mobilized one division with nearly 100,000 troops to engage in fierce battles against Japanese forces. Although our National Army fought valiantly with high morale against a well-equipped Japanese army armed with heavy artillery and tanks supported by numerous aircrafts, they ultimately suffered devastating losses—particularly among troops from Sichuan who faced inferior weaponry and could not withstand relentless Japanese firepower. 0

One regiment commanded by Wu Xinhua—a Sichuan native and graduate of Sichuan Military Academy—was tasked with guarding one flank along a major road and did not directly engage in combat during this disastrous battle. After realizing their defeat and seeking to preserve their remaining forces, Wu led his entire unit southward into mountainous terrain spanning several kilometers but subsequently vanished without a trace. 0

After capturing Nanjing, Japanese command noted that one entire regiment of Chinese defenders had neither been annihilated nor surrendered; instead they seemed to have relocated without entering designated refugee zones marked by international Red Cross flags but appeared unable to break through two encirclements set by Japanese forces. This raised suspicions among Japanese commanders. 0

When Chongqing's Nationalist headquarters reviewed operational reports in 1990, they also noted this peculiar incident which was classified as "Entire Unit Missing." After victory in resistance efforts concluded, both military and political departments sent specialized teams for investigations but ultimately failed to uncover any truth regarding this mystery which faded into obscurity. 0

According to several military experts studying the history of the War of Resistance, it was impossible for this unit to break through successfully at that time. The Japanese Army employed a strategy of extensive flanking maneuvers, launching two elite divisions from Hangzhou Bay at Jinshanwei on January 1, 197. They advanced through Huzhou, Guangde, and Wuhu, encircling the Chinese defenders' rear. A portion of the Japanese Army reached the strategic town of Tangshan in the southeast suburbs of Nanjing, where they met the main force of Japanese Invaders advancing from Suzhou, Wuxi, Changzhou, and Zhenjiang, effectively surrounding Nanjing from three sides. By January 10, 197, only a few units of the National Army, including the 93rd Army commanded by General Deng Longguang, managed to break through the Japanese Army's blockade during the night before the encirclement was fully established. After that, no organized Chinese forces were able to breach the tight blockade set by the Japanese Invaders. 0

The Malaysia Airlines incident is shrouded in mystery; the plane reportedly made a rapid descent and turn before losing contact, allegedly to avoid cumulonimbus clouds. The United States confirmed that there were no signs of an explosion in that airspace. Additionally, an aircraft disintegrating in mid-air would leave traces on the sea surface, yet despite numerous ships being deployed, no evidence has been found. After ruling out various confirmed impossibilities, what remains is often the least likely possibility, which tends to be the truth. 0

The story of "Disappear" has come to an end! Stay tuned for the next chapter "Vampire Beast," "Love Like the Wind," and "The Work of Chasing the Wind," which will bring even more excitement tomorrow! 0
