Cyrus took advantage of the moment when Giant bear turned to attack other soldiers, quickly climbing up the dilapidated building. He carefully stepped on the precarious wooden planks, pressing his body against the outer wall of the house, his heart pounding like a drum. He tightly gripped a half-broken wooden stake, waiting for the perfect opportunity. 0

Cyrus clenched the stake in his hand, feeling its rough texture. It wasn't his usual Roman short sword, but at that moment, it was his barrier between life and death. His heart raced, each beat seeming to respond to the deafening roar of Giant bear. 0

"For Rome! For our future!" Cyrus silently repeated this slogan in his heart, as if it had a magical power to make him forget the fear and only have courage. 0

He looked down at the soldiers from a high place, their faces contorted with fear, but Cyrus had only one goal - the giant bear. As he approached close enough, his breath quickened as if it was about to jump out of his throat, but he forced himself to suppress it, focusing all his strength. 0

His heart was pounding like thunder, but his nerves were unusually calm. At a glance, he spotted the giant bear's blind spot and quickly calculated the optimal angle for the leap. 0

"Now!" Cyrus silently exclaimed in his heart, and like a lightning bolt, he leaped from the roof and landed accurately on the giant bear's head. 0

Giant bear let out an angry roar, trying to shake off the sudden "headgear." But Cyrus was prepared; his feet were firmly hooked into the bear's fur, much like a Roman gladiator hooking an enemy's shield. 0

He raised the wooden stake high, took a breath, and forcefully drove the broken spear into Giant bear's head. The bear let out an even more piercing roar, but it was clearly weakened. 0

However, in this life-and-death moment, Cyrus suddenly felt a sharp pain coming from the sole of his foot - the final counterattack from the Giant bear. Cyrus gritted his teeth and endured the pain, "This is your end!" he roared, using all his strength to push the wooden stake into the broken spear in the left eye of the Giant bear. 0

Giant bear let out a more deafening roar than before. Its entire massive body shook violently for a few seconds, and finally, in an almost slow motion, it toppled over. 0

At this moment, time seemed to stand still. 0

Cyrus stood there, still gripping the wooden stake with both hands, his breathing rapid but steady, as if he had just completed an impossible task. His gaze shifted from the fallen Giant bear to the surrounding soldiers, their expressions complex, a mix of fear, awe, and a hint of relief. 0

He realized that at this moment, he was no longer just an ordinary soldier. In this instant, he became their hero, he became their hope. He also understood that even as an ordinary soldier, he could change everything at a critical moment. 0

Pluto pushed through the smoke and fire, continuing towards the savage fortress. The stench of burnt wood and the metallic tang of blood filled his nostrils, causing him to momentarily furrow his brow. The wooden outer walls had been reduced to ashes, with smoke billowing around them. 0

"The person ahead, immediately go to support the third and fifth routes!" Pluto quickly commanded, his voice cutting through the roar of the battlefield and the sound of swords clashing. 0

His gaze swept across the battlefield and saw a huge bear attacking his soldiers in the corner. Only a few people, about the size of a squad, were struggling to fight against it. 0

"Follow me all the way!" Pluto waved his sword and led about two hundred soldiers to charge in that direction. 0

At that moment, he saw a young soldier leap from a nearby ruined building and land steadily on the head of the Giant bear. The young man engaged in a fierce battle with the Giant bear using a wooden stake. 0

Pluto was moved by the courage of this young soldier. He accelerated towards that direction, silently acknowledging the bravery of the young soldier. 0

At this moment, the young soldier was shaken off from Giant bear's head, and the bear, after a violent shaking, finally collapsed weakly. 0

The members of the assault team were exhausted like defeated soldiers, each lying on the damp ground, their armor still bearing the splattered mud and blood from the recent battle. Cyrus knelt beside the body of Centurion Maximianus, his face solemn, as if in this moment, all the fires of war and passion had dissipated, leaving only mourning for the departed life. 0

At that moment, Legion commander Pluto arrived with a small team of elite soldiers. The members of the assault team abruptly stood up, forcefully holding their shields in front of their bodies, saluting Legion commander in the standard Roman manner. 0

"Rest, take a break, you've done very well." Pluto waved his hand, indicating that they didn't need to be too formal. 0

Pluto then looked at the nearby corpse of the Giant bear, his eyes filled with astonishment and awe. The body of this Giant bear was almost as big as two adult men, and he was amazed that his soldiers could successfully defeat such a giant creature. 0

Then he walked over to the body of Centurion Maximianus. In an instant, his face became even more solemn. He felt anger towards Maximian, the reckless centurion who had not properly protected himself and the soldiers, but more so a sense of disappointment and sorrow. 0

Cyrus saw Pluto and immediately stood up, saluting him to show respect for the Legion commander. 0

"Young man, you have shown great bravery." Pluto first praised him, then his expression turned serious. "Tell me, what exactly happened just now? How did Maximian sacrifice himself?" 0

Cyrus hesitated for a moment, then began to explain in detail what had happened, including how they had fallen into crisis under Maximian's command and the process of his ultimate sacrifice. In his words, there was a sense of sorrow for their fallen comrade, as well as uncertainty and doubt about the future. 0

Pluto After listening, he nodded silently, seemingly re-evaluating the meaning of all this in his mind, and how he, as a Legion commander, should face the even more difficult challenges ahead. 0
