"Impressive, I never thought you would be able to find me... Was it that guy, Val, who told you about my magic?"
Jackb showed no signs of tension. He had already tested his magic and confirmed it was still usable, which meant his opponent had not left any traces. He vanished from everyone's sight.
"Damn it! You want to escape? Come back here!"
Natsu shouted into the air, but Jackb had long since disappeared into the void.
"Stop thinking about it. Their magic can completely conceal everything about them, and they can traverse between this space and another at will. There's no way we can catch them based solely on our abilities."
Newton shook his head. In fact, figuring out how to counteract the opponent's abilities was quite simple. One method was to launch a wide-range, high-intensity attack to force them out; after all, no matter how powerful they were, they would eventually have to emerge. The other method was to use the same Spatial Magic to draw them out, which was Newton's plan.
"So, I'm counting on you, Minerva..."
Sword-Biting Tiger was currently in a honeymoon phase with Fairy Tail, and due to the high mobility of Spatial Magic, Minerva could remain on standby at headquarters. As for the matters within Sword-Biting Tiger Guild, those would be handled by Rogue and Sting.
"Don't worry, I will make that Holy Twelve Shields guy pay."
Minerva appeared quite confident, as if Jackb were merely a monkey in her palm.
"Don't underestimate them. They are on the same level as God's Selene. In another space, we might not be able to help you at all, so you'll have to rely on yourself. Make sure to bring enough potions and equipment."
Fighting in another space seemed quite grand; however, the main factor was the ability to traverse dimensions. Without that ability, battles between spaces could indeed be troublesome. But once in a specific space, combat would become relatively similar.
Meanwhile, in the other space, Jackb frowned. His main purpose for coming here was to gather intelligence or carry out some assassination activities. However, it seemed that his presence had been detected—was it that girl who looked like she wasn't human? Should he report back after this? Jackb began contemplating how he would report his infiltration activities to Oghast upon returning.
Just as Jackb was deep in thought, he felt a distortion in the space around him. The hairs on his left arm stood on end as he quickly dodged. Right where his left hand had been positioned, the space began twisting like a vortex. The attack did not stop; light points shot toward Jackb, resembling light magic but essentially comprised of spatial fragments. Even though Jackb was known as one of the Holy Twelve Shields, being hit would still yield unfavorable results.
Jackb retaliated with the same type of attack; however, whether it was instinct or something else entirely, he instinctively raised his hand. Based on this action alone, Minerva could easily determine where his attack was directed.
But before Minerva could react, a sharp blade sliced through her body, blood spraying forth.
"How could this happen?"
Minerva froze for a moment before more wounds appeared across her body—each one inflicted by a blade she couldn't see coming. She could only sense faintly that blades were grazing her skin. Moreover, despite having concealed herself completely, how could her opponent still find her?
"Got you..."
The chilling words echoed behind Minerva, but immediately, she began to swell up, followed by a violent explosion.
"Boom!"
Since it was an alternate dimension, there were no spectators to witness the power of this explosion. At least Jackb wanted nothing to do with it, so he chose to leave and return to the real world. However, just as he reappeared, a steel-like arm appeared right in front of him.
"Clang!"
Jackb could even feel his nasal bone shatter at that moment, tears involuntarily streaming down his face. Subconsciously, he shifted back to the alternate dimension, but the intense heat hit him like a wave, making him smell the burning of his own hair.
The blinding light and heat had not yet registered in his mind when the same iron fist came crashing down again. Jackb felt his magical energy depleting rapidly, as if the surrounding environment was continuously absorbing it.
"Ha!"
Jackb roared, feeling as if he had burst a soap bubble. Then he heard a mechanical sound. With his eyes barely open, he could make out a massive figure in his line of sight, though it was flying backward.
"Is that the thing?"
Jackb's face remained expressionless. There was someone in this alternate dimension capable of using Spatial Magic, and clearly, there were others waiting for him outside. But this seemed different from before; earlier it had been a woman. So were there two people? Or had that woman been bait from the start? That level of explosion was akin to a suicide attack. Outside must be Newton and the others. Therefore, the greatest possibility for escape lay with this figure before him. With its steel exterior, breaking through its defenses with weapons would be difficult; he could only rely on Spatial Magic. However, since this person dared to enter alone, they must also be proficient in Spatial Magic. In that case...
"I surrender."
Jackb raised his hands high and approached the armored figure completely defenseless.
"Hmm?"
Inside the armor was Minerva herself. To give everyone a better chance, each person had collaborated with Newton to create a suit of armor tailored for them; Minerva's was specialized in Spatial Magic.
"You’re giving up just like that? I haven’t even finished fighting yet."
Giving up? Was she a woman?
Jackb slowly gathered information.
"Yes, after considering it, I realized I had no chance of defeating you. To save my life, I surrender."
"......"
Minerva was silent for a moment before nodding.
"Alright, put this on, and then come with me."
She tossed a pair of handcuffs to Jackb. Once he put them on, she ensured he could no longer use magic and then turned to lead Jackb away.
"Heh, being an assassin isn't just about killing with magic..."
A strange Magical Device appeared in Jackb's hand at some point, pressed against Minerva's back, and then it unleashed a tremendous burst of energy.
"Zing!"
Like a hot knife through butter, a beam of laser shot out.
