Soon, Norman took Newton's medicine and disappeared without a trace. Newton didn't care about such matters; after all, it was just a defective product. Who Norman sold it to was none of his concern. However, when Norman left, he brought along a boy named Roderick, who was said to be one of Norman's subordinates, to act as Newton's guide in this place. Norman hurried off to find a way for the new medicine. 0

"Come on, boy, accompany me for a stroll," Newton said, leaning on his cane, while Roderick quickly came over to support him. 0

"My lord, you are a distinguished guest of Master Norman. How could I let you walk alone? Allow me to assist you," Roderick insisted. 0

"Oh, I thought you were going to find a few people to carry me," Newton chuckled, shaking his head. 0

"I'm not that precious. We're all just trying to get by. At my level, who has the ability to have others carry them? Let's go and see if there are any markets or interesting places around here." 0

"Of course, my lord!" 0

Fortunately, Norman had left some money for Newton before he left; otherwise, Newton wouldn't have dared to venture out. Of course, Newton himself had also produced some items that could be sold, so he could exchange them for some funds at the market. 0

Roderick seemed to have developed this accommodating nature here. Every word he spoke was aimed at pleasing Newton without being annoying; instead, it felt quite comfortable. He was efficient in his actions and knew exactly what to do and what not to do at any given moment. This made Newton marvel at how ambitious Roderick was; if given the chance, he would surely soar high. 0

As Newton followed Roderick, he listened as the boy introduced the underground situation: where things were cheap, who sold counterfeit goods, and where women were both affordable and safe. Roderick seemed like an encyclopedia of information, giving Newton a general understanding of the area. Perhaps this was one of the reasons why Norman had sent him over. 0

The market was quite large and surprisingly orderly, which caught Newton off guard. But thinking about it logically, markets are places where everyone trades; if safety couldn't be guaranteed here, then no one could ensure safety in the entire area. Without safety, there would be no reason for people to gather here; without necessary supplies, the place would gradually decline. Thus, ensuring transactions likely had the tacit approval of all forces in the area. 0

Before coming here, Newton had specifically asked Roderick what could be sold and what couldn't. This knowledge alleviated his worries about infringing on others' interests or committing taboos, simplifying his business considerably. However, as an outsider, Newton's prices would naturally be lower; he would be pressed down to a relatively low position. Fortunately, with Roderick's help nearby, he wasn't pushed into a corner and still managed to make some profit. 0
Having made some money, it was only natural for Newton to spend it. He had no hope of supporting himself; instead, he hoped to use Norman as a channel for making money. Once his reputation was established, he could do whatever he pleased. 0

Newton wanted to find an interesting place, so Roderick took him to a spot where men sought pleasure. 0

"My lord, this is the biggest street in our area. As long as you have money, you can find any kind of woman you desire here." 0

Roderick was young, but his face bore a lewd expression that made Newton sigh. Perhaps this was what the environment produced—such people. 0

Although Newton wasn't particularly interested in this place, he figured it wouldn't hurt to take a look. After all, men are often curious, even if they pretend not to be. However, he didn't expect to encounter a 'familiar' face here. The woman he had treated before was now sprawled on the ground in a rather pitiful state. Next to her was a girl crying loudly while lying on top of her, and a strong man had his foot resting on the girl. 0

"Hmph, it's her good fortune that I even look at this girl. I'm just playing around; your daughter serves me while my brothers serve you. Is there anything you don't understand?" 0

The man lifted his foot again and stomped down hard, causing the girl to spit out mouthfuls of blood. Those around them didn’t intervene; instead, they cheered him on. 0

Newton frowned and prepared to push his way forward, but Roderick stopped him. 0

"My lord, what do you intend to do?" 0

Roderick's face was serious. 0

"I think I’ve gone too far. There are three bosses in this area, and that guy is one of them. If you really do something, even Lord Norman won't be able to protect you!" 0

Newton said nothing and simply shook off Roderick's hand. Roderick was surprised; although he was just a minor, he had considerable strength. He never expected Newton to break free so easily. Newton pushed past one person after another blocking his path; none could halt his advance. Suddenly, angry shouts rang in his ears. Newton smirked and swung his cane at the source of the noise. More insults followed along with countless people rushing toward him, but none could stop him. If one swing of the cane didn’t work, he would swing again until he stood before the towering man. 0

"Hey, kid, this woman..." 0

The other party seemed to be saying something, but Newton didn't care for a single word. He simply squatted down—or was it sitting? With a flick of his cane, he sent it flying toward the woman. She seemed to want to catch it, but the immense force sent her sprawling away. Newton lifted the girl effortlessly with one hand, setting her upright before brushing off the dust from her clothes. 0

"..." 0

The girl looked somewhat frightened. Newton gently patted her head and then turned his gaze toward the woman. Although he had no idea what had transpired before his arrival, the woman was covered in blood and grime, her expression dazed. Her eyes were swollen, and her body was riddled with wounds. When Newton reached out, surprisingly, she grabbed his arm and bit down hard. 0

"Let go of my daughter!" 0

Each word was crystal clear. Newton had no intention of pulling his hand back, even as blood began to flow from the wound. 0

"Mom! Mom!" 0

At that moment, the girl was extremely anxious. She realized that Newton wanted to help and hurriedly tried to pull her mother away. But when the mother was finally yanked free by the girl, she burst into tears. 0

"Go ahead and cry; it'll feel better." 0

No one knew what had happened, or those who did were tight-lipped about it. All that was clear was that the local gang leaders had gone from three to two, and within a certain wooden house, an odd pair of father and daughter had suddenly appeared. 0
