After that, everything seemed to enter a phase of rapid development. Newton did not manage the Guild too much; most matters were handled by Miraj and Erza, while Newton maintained his usual hands-off approach.
However, there were still some issues that required Newton's attention, particularly concerning the Dark Guild. The current problems with the Dark Guild were not severe. After the Balam Alliance was dealt with, it appeared that there were no formidable figures left in the Dark Guild. Yet, due to the Circus established by Newton, even if it was not very active, it still served as a gathering point for all Dark Mages, acting like a leader among them. Although nothing excessive occurred under its constraints, such a significant force was still a cause for concern. The original Dark Guild was divided into factions; compared to now, where they were united as one, it was necessary to address this situation.
"What should we do about these guys?"
Newton looked at Erza. Although most of the affairs within the Guild were managed by Erza and Miraj, Miraj did not enjoy handling such matters; it was primarily Erza who took charge. In terms of reputation, Erza certainly held more weight than Miraj and could lead these people effectively.
"I don't know either..."
Erza felt a bit troubled. Although this group had improved significantly under the leadership of the Circus, they could not be considered good people; many among them had blood on their hands. The key issue was their connection to Newton. Newton assisted Witch's Sin because their leader was Gerard, who could be considered a friend. But what connection did these others have with him? If he simply killed them, Newton would feel guilty.
Newton's current feeling was somewhat conflicted; perhaps he already had a plan but needed someone else to help solidify his resolve. However, if he let his lover make this decision for him, wouldn’t that make him seem shameless? What kind of man would that make him?
Newton smiled wryly and shook his head before apologetically looking at Erza.
"I'm sorry for troubling you with this; I actually have made up my mind."
Newton had decided to sacrifice those from the Dark Guild. Regardless of how things turned out later, he felt indifferent about it. The truth was that those from the Dark Guild did not know Newton or the Circus's true identities, so he felt unconcerned. His real worry lay with Gerard; originally part of the Dark Guild, Gerard had now joined Regular Guild. If Newton planned to deal with those from the Dark Guild, it was inevitable that someone would bring up Gerard’s Witch's Sin members. The crucial question was whether he would allow Witch's Sin to take in these individuals.
If he agreed to it, then those people would merely shift from one place to another; concerns would remain unchanged and could potentially entangle both Witch's Sin and Fairy Tail in an irreparable situation.
But if we don't give in, then a gap will inevitably form between Newton and Gerard. It won't lead to enmity, but their relationship will no longer be as close as it is now. Gerard has his own principles, and if he refuses to let go of these people, then they will have to confront each other.
"It's okay. I can probably guess. Honestly, I'm here because you brought me in. I have no real feelings about this; I'm just a beginner, but I will support you."
"Yes..."
Newton nodded.
"I plan to use the ugly identity to encircle certain people, while our Regular Guild members, along with the kingdom's people and those from Witch's Sin, will appear as saviors. How does that sound for staging a hero versus dragon scenario while also taking down the dragon's minions?"
Although she was asking, Erza couldn't provide much advice because she wasn't well-versed in these matters. All she needed to do was execute Newton's plan when the time came.
"However, if that's the case, Circus's people will definitely show up. We could gather a few more people then, but what about Laxus and the others who have already appeared? Should we notify them?"
Even though Erza didn't understand these things well, after handling so many affairs, her thoughts had become much more meticulous, and she immediately considered many aspects.
"Don't worry. During this time, I've been busy with more than just eating. Although I can't completely replicate Laxus and their magic, those people don't really know what they're using either. As long as it looks similar, it should be fine."
The armor Newton created, now equipped with realistic skin, could easily be compared to a real person. As long as they attached a Magic Crystal similar to what others used at that time, the magic issue would be resolved. Moreover, the combat power of the armor itself wasn't weak; as long as they prevented those people from destroying it and kept the fact that it wasn't human a secret, they would be fine.
"That's true. So are you ready?"
"Not yet. When the time comes, I'll send a notification to the kingdom and Gerard to ask for their opinions on this matter. It's not urgent, so we can take our time. The most crucial thing is that I really don't want to give up this power."
Indeed, the dark forces needed to be dealt with merely because others perceived them as a threat. However, to Newton, this presented a great opportunity. Darkness could never be completely eradicated; if he could control it, it would make things much easier for him. Therefore, even if he had to take action, Newton planned to retain some of the individuals involved. If Chou were to eliminate everyone, it would leave the Dark Guild in a state of chaos without leadership. By bringing up this matter now, discussions would inevitably take some time, which would give Newton enough opportunity to set up certain measures to ensure that the Dark Guild wouldn't be completely wiped out and that part of it could serve as his eyes.
"Well, Jiang..."
Jiang approached.
"Alright, I'll arrange communication with other Guilds and the Kingdom right away."
Under Newton's leadership, Fairy Tail was growing stronger. However, since everyone knew what kind of character Newton and the members of Fairy Tail had, there wasn't much concern yet. But if Newton were to show any signs of treachery, Fairy Tail's position would become quite precarious. Therefore, it was impossible to allow outsiders into this space; at most, Newton could issue a statement or an invitation. Making a phone call was also a way to prepare everyone, but detailed discussions would still need to happen face-to-face.
"Ah, thinking about it, I haven't seen many old friends in quite a while. I suppose this is also a chance to catch up with them..."
