The war had ended, though it felt somewhat inexplicable. Aside from Newton, who had fought from beginning to end, no one else had witnessed how Hades Mardo had met his demise or how they had been rescued. They were left in the dark, oblivious to the details, which did not affect the preparations for the banquet. This time, it was a joint effort between Sword-Biting Tiger and Fairy Tail, marking a social gathering for the members of both Guilds.
However, Newton had little intention of engaging in idle chatter with others. Although the entire town had been destroyed, thanks to Newton's immense financial resources and the assistance of robots, the town's outline was already taking shape. As for materials, there was no need to use anything too precious; after all, they might have to blow things up again.
"Newton, what's wrong?"
Miraj approached him. While it was true that Newton wasn't the type to enjoy mingling, this time it wasn't just about socializing. The troubled expression on his face was genuinely concerning for Miraj.
"Nothing, just a little something..."
There was no need to involve others in matters related to Jelf. The hints he had dropped were far beyond what ordinary people could handle.
"Issac..."
Miraj wrapped her arms around Newton, leaning into his embrace.
"Even though I don't know what you're worried about, don't forget that we are here for you. You're not alone. Although we couldn't help much this time, I promise I won't let something like this happen again."
Newton smiled as he rested his head on Miraj's, inhaling the pleasant scent of her hair. Indeed, even if something were to go wrong, what could they do? Even if their opponent was reputed to be the most powerful Dark Mage, they had already faced dragon demons before. Why fear just one Dark Mage now? Besides, although he was unsure of the opponent's intentions, if their plans involved several Dragon Slayer Mages, they had three on their side. Laxus was no longer part of this plan; after all, it seemed that these matters only concerned those Dragon Slayer Mages raised by dragons. Laxus had become a Dragon Slayer Mage merely due to the Magic Crystal. While he was not lacking in power, there remained a significant difference in nature.

Just as Newton was about to say something, Makarov approached them.
"Old man, can't you see this is a crucial moment? What are you doing here?"
Newton now had a plan to stuff the opponent inside the Underworld Beast and lock them away for a while.
Makarov looked a bit awkward, glancing over at Miraj.
"Just say what you need to say."
Newton kept his gaze fixed on Makarov, his arms tightly wrapped around Miraj.
Miraj, feeling somewhat shy, looked at Makarov before burying herself deeper into Newton's embrace.
"Alright, alright..."
Makarov sighed in resignation but quickly adopted a serious demeanor.
"Newton, I hope you can take over Fairy Tail!"
"I refuse."
Newton maintained a serious expression.
"Old man, you know I've done this job before. Back then, I was just a figurehead; everything was handled by Makao. If you want to take a break, it would be better to hand this position over to Makao."
"No, I'm not looking to retire; rather... I'm planning to leave."
Makarov's words took Newton by surprise.
"Leave, where are you planning to go?"
"You already know about the Meteoric Radiance. Our world is not limited to just this continent; far across the sea lies a powerful empire, the Albarez Empire. Do you know that when Natsu fought against the demons of the Nine Ghosts Gate, he told me he encountered Hades?"
Makarov sighed.
"Although we have no grievances with that empire, our treasure, the Meteoric Radiance, is the best reason for them to start a war. After all, it holds eternal magic, and what Hades told Natsu was to activate the Meteoric Radiance. I initially thought it was related to the Nine Ghosts Gate incident, but clearly, that’s not the case. The only thing worth activating the Meteoric Radiance for is that terrifying empire."
"So you plan to take the Meteoric Radiance there and plead for them to spare us?"
Newton's words were rather blunt, yet Makarov did not get angry.
"Newton, you know that such a situation is impossible."
Makarov rolled his eyes.
"I plan to go and see if I can delay them."
"I understand. I promise there won't be any issues at home during this time. When you return, I'll show you a Guild that can stand up to your terrifying empire."
Makarov had no intention of backing down. Although he was initially intimidated by them, after several battles, he had gained confidence. Fairy Tail had come this far through tough victories; in every battle, they had faced difficulties but ultimately emerged victorious—that was key.
"However, if I need to come back later, I might have to trouble you."
This time Newton did not argue with Makarov about who should go because as a third-generation leader, Makarov was indeed the most suitable person for this mission. Since it was merely a negotiation, Newton also planned to grant Makarov an envoy status from the kingdom. While it might not be particularly effective, it was a common practice not to harm envoys in wartime, and even a small advantage would be sufficient.
"Don't worry, when the time comes and we're ready, I'll come to notify you, and then we'll return together."
"That's not what I mean. I might need you to come and save me."
Makarov felt a bit helpless.
"Even though I might not face any persecution once I go over, it will probably be difficult to return safely. The most likely scenario is that I'll be locked up or placed under house arrest, so you'll definitely need to be prepared to rescue me when the time comes."
Makarov was quite relaxed about it; he had confidence that even if he went over, they wouldn't kill him. His main goal was to buy time.
"Alright."
Newton nodded, indicating that he understood this point and would ensure Makarov's safety when the time came.
"So when are you leaving?"
"In a few days, but you still have some things to take care of..."
Makarov smiled as he looked at Newton and Miraj.
"Yeah, it won't do without you..."
