In the world of Fairy Tail, not only Laxus and the Thunder God Clan, but also others from Fairy Tail had vanished into the pink space.
So what exactly happened? Let's rewind the timeline and return to the battle between Makarov and Mardo. The two were not evenly matched; although Makarov was quite powerful, his age had taken a toll on his strength. Mardo, on the other hand, was no ordinary demon. He could be considered one of the strongest demons, second only to End, the most powerful demon created by Jelf. Makarov managed to suppress his opponent initially simply because he caught Mardo off guard, and Mardo was not using his full strength.
However, as the landing battle commenced, Mardo began to lose his composure. The reality did not align with his expectations; he realized that his Underworld Gate was ineffective against Makarov. If that were all, it might have been manageable, but one event pushed Mardo over the edge: the destruction of the Core of Hell.
The destruction of the Core of Hell was quite astonishing and was caused by Haru and the Transcenders. All the mages were engaged in battles against demons, while only a few cats—Haru, Sharlulu, Lily, and two dragons from Sword-Biting Tiger—were present. Before the Great Magic Games, Sting and Rogue had already asked Newton to craft armor for their cats.
Everyone else was busy fighting; it was rather dull for these few cats. After all, battling demons was extremely dangerous. Even Natsu and his friends dared not let them stay close by. With Newton's crafted armor, it seemed better to let them venture out. As for whether they would encounter danger, Sharlulu had managed to gain some control over her precognitive abilities. Although she couldn't predict events with precision yet, she had a sense of impending danger. The cats made their way to the Core of Hell without incident. Since everyone else was engaged in battles with Fairy Tail and Sword-Biting Tiger, this area was relatively free of demons—except for one.
"Why are there cats here?"
A young girl appeared before the Transcenders, wearing a white lab coat and sporting rabbit-like ears.
"This one is also from Underworld Gate; her name is Rami. According to reports, she is merely a modified support personnel and should not be very strong. You all need to protect yourselves."
Lily immediately transformed back into her giant form, gripping a massive sword tightly in her hands. With a roar, she charged at Rami with her sword raised.
"What a pity..."
Rami showed no intention of fighting back; she did not evade as the giant sword approached her. The blade slid off as if striking an oiled iron block.
"Useless, my Spell is Slippery, and your physical attacks won't work at all."
With narrowed eyes, she completely disregarded the few cats in front of her.
"Just stay there. I can be considered a non-combatant, so I won't do anything to you. By the way, does your Guild have any handsome guys... hmm?"
Rami was about to ask if there was anyone to her liking when suddenly, ice began to form beneath her feet, and in an instant, she was frozen into a solid block of ice.
"Useless, useless... because I'm a mass-produced model."
Suddenly, countless Rami clones emerged in the space, each looking identical. Even the Rami who had just been frozen was nowhere to be seen.
"We know, we’ve already learned everything about you from Frenzied Blossom. Fortunately for you, you’re one of Frenzied Blossom's subordinates; otherwise, we wouldn’t have such detailed information about you compared to other Nine Ghosts Gate members."
Sharlulu said matter-of-factly while holding a square object in her hand.
"Your Slippery Spell is indeed troublesome, but with so many of you running around, do you even know where we are?"
The cats immediately vanished into the vast crowd. Although every clone was Rami, each had its own sensory perception. Even if one saw something, it would be impossible for all the Rami to know what was happening in that moment.
Haru and the other cats took advantage of this characteristic and scurried around beneath Rami's feet. Thanks to their armor, they weren't worried about being stepped on. Meanwhile, Lily kept pounding the ground; no matter where she struck, the opponent would slide away, causing chaos among Rami's group and creating opportunities for Haru and the others. Soon enough, several petri dishes were rigged with explosives by Haru and Sharlulu.
"Alright, let's retreat!"
Sharlulu held a commanding position among the cats. As soon as she sensed that the time was right, she immediately ordered everyone to flee. Otherwise, if they were caught in the explosion, they would surely be ridiculed. They wanted to prove that even cats could achieve great things!
Rami, although unsure of what the other party had done—some might know—was confident in her judgment that capturing these cats would be no problem. However, another issue arose: while Rami's slippery nature made her nearly invincible against physical attacks, launching an offense was a different story. Even if she wanted to catch Lily and the others, it wouldn't be easy. Lacking offensive capabilities, she could only rely on sheer numbers. But with so many opponents using spells, it felt like trying to catch someone gliding on ice; it was impossible to stop them. Simply relying on stamina? One cat, Lily, could easily overpower their entire group.
The only silver lining was that the Core of Hell was connected to the Underworld King. If anything went wrong with the Core of Hell, Mardo would know immediately.
"You actually targeted the Core of Hell?"
Mardo, engaged in battle with Makarov, was somewhat surprised. Who had given them this information? How did they know about these matters? Several members of his Nine Ghosts Gate had not returned; it seemed likely that the other side was responsible. A faint smile crept onto Mardo's face.
"Very good. This so-called Fairy Tail has indeed piqued my interest. Allow me to share some joy with you..."
As Mardo's words fell, the entire base began to change. Makarov was astonished to find a pink substance appearing beneath his feet, and in places they couldn't see, the entire base transformed into an enormous monster.
"You will slowly perish in joy..."
