Although it was late at night, the palace was still bustling with activity. King Thomas was directing his subordinates in the post-war reconstruction efforts, while Princess Emerald wore a face of regret. 0

"Sir Newton, you've arrived." 0

Despite being busy, King Thomas E. Fiore welcomed Newton's presence. After all, he was a significant benefactor, and the palace's rebuilding would inevitably require some financial support from him. 0

"Your Majesty, I have some matters I wish to discuss with you." 0

Newton glanced around at the people present. Although the topic at hand wasn't overly serious, it could still have negative repercussions if it got out. 0

"I understand. You all may leave now..." 0

The surrounding servants were dismissed by the king, but Princess Emerald lingered, lost in her thoughts. 0

"Emerald, do you have something else on your mind?" 0

The king looked at his daughter, aware that she needed comfort, but this was not the right time. 0

"Your Highness, if you truly feel regret about this situation, please be more mindful in the future. I can take the burden for you; it doesn't matter if I'm here now. This incident is too significant; someone must bear the public's anger. That's why I've come." 0

Newton figured that since Emerald was a princess, it wouldn't hurt to keep her around. He had played the role of a psychologist before; helping one more person wouldn't be an issue. 0

"Sir Newton, regarding Emerald..." 0

Thomas E. Fiore initially thought Newton intended to push Emerald forward to take responsibility. While it was true that this mess stemmed from her actions, she was still his daughter. If something went wrong, he would find it hard to let go. 0

"No, you misunderstand. I don't want Princess Emerald to bear this alone; I intend to take on this burden myself." 0

Newton's words left both Thomas E. Fiore and Emerald stunned. Neither had expected someone to willingly step up to take the blame. Did Newton have some demands in mind? Thomas suddenly glanced at his daughter, who had grown into a full young woman. 0

"I will never hand my daughter over to you!" 0

Thomas E. Fiore stood in front of Emerald like a protective hen, blocking her path. 0

"Father, if my body can satisfy Mr. Newton, then I wouldn't mind sacrificing everything," Emerald said, displaying a fearless attitude as if she were willingly feeding a tiger. 0

The sight of this father-daughter duo left Newton speechless. Did he really look like some kind of lecherous fiend? Who wanted his daughter? Did they think she was special? Did they believe she was better than Miraj or Erza? Those two were goddesses in their own right! He was already satisfied with having them in his life. Besides, he had nothing to offer; where did they get the idea that he wanted their daughter? 0

Newton felt a lump in his throat, nearly choking on his words. 0

"Come on, can you guys be a little more reasonable? When did I ever express interest in Emerald? And do you really think my girlfriend is inferior to her?" 0

"Hey, I don't like hearing that! My daughter is not worse than your girlfriend!" 0

The conversation quickly veered off course, and Newton looked at Thomas E. Fiore with exasperation. 0

"This isn't the issue we're discussing right now." 0

"Uh..." 0

Emerald suddenly realized she might have misunderstood the situation. A blush crept onto her face as she lowered her head, unable to meet Newton's gaze. 0

Thomas E. Fiore's expression grew complicated. While he was pleased that Newton didn't intend to pursue his daughter, there was still an unwillingness to accept that his daughter had somehow lost out. If only he had a handkerchief; otherwise, he felt like he could chew Newton up and spit him out. 0

"Alright, what I'm thinking is that I'll take the blame for this, but we need the kingdom's cooperation. Otherwise, if the publicity isn't sufficient, ordinary citizens might find it strange. I can help shoulder the blame here so that the Emerald Princess won't have to come." 0

"I see. You're trying to win my daughter's favor with this, aren't you? You scoundrel!" 0

"If you go any further, I'll withdraw my investment. From now on, the palace construction is up to you." 0

With that statement, Newton silenced Thomas E. Fiore. 0

"Alright, alright. I'm not interested in the princess. You need to prepare; otherwise, if something goes wrong later, it will be even more troublesome to handle." 0

"But is this really how you're going to punish me? Those who know the truth about this matter will think even less of it, won't they?" 0

Thomas E. Fiore frowned. While this might silence some people, what about others? 0

"This is simple. To put it plainly, I'll take all the blame myself. I'll transfer everything from the Guild to Jiang and Jin, so you can just punish me alone. Then reward Jiang and Jin; that would be a form of compensation for me, and that should be enough." 0

Newton was clearly planning to step back completely. He had a false identity in the Dark Guild and didn't intend to appear openly in the Guild anymore; handing everything over to Jin and Jiang was sufficient. 0

"Aren't you worried that Jin or Jiang might break away and establish their own faction?" 0

Thomas E. Fiore wasn't trying to sow discord; it was a normal concern. After all, power and money could easily lead people astray. 0

"I'm not worried. Even if they do run off with it, I can just start over again." 0

That was the crux of Newton's mindset—betrayal didn't matter. The Guild had plenty of money; losing it would be troublesome, but ultimately this was a world where strength reigned supreme. If money couldn't be converted into power, then it was worthless. As for the experiments, most of the important items had been moved to a secret base—that was where Newton's true strength lay. 0

"You really are broad-minded." 0

Thomas E. Fiore didn't understand these matters, so he could only admire Newton's open-mindedness. He nodded in agreement with Newton's plan. With his objectives achieved, Newton prepared to leave when Emerald stopped him. 0

"Mr. Newton..." 0

Emerald looked conflicted, while Thomas E. Fiore somehow managed to find a handkerchief and began biting down on it. 0

"Is something wrong?" 0

Newton looked at the princess. Her intentions were good, but she was too easily swayed by others. In today's terms, it felt like this girl was someone I could deceive into bed seven times. 0

"Um..." 0

Emerald bit her lip, as if preparing to make a decision. She bowed deeply to Newton. 0

"I'm sorry, I was wrong! If you have any thoughts, please feel free to punish me!" 0

With that, Emerald tightly closed her eyes. 0

"Hah..." 0

Newton chuckled softly. 0

"Your words are enough." 0

Then he turned and left the palace. 0
