"Who are you?"
Future Lucy had already clenched her fists.
"I'm more curious about your keys. As a Celestial Spirit Mage, it would be quite unusual for you to be without them, wouldn't it?"
Marlon was actually more interested in verifying something: the paradox brought about by time travel. Logically, there should be many keys capable of summoning Celestial Spirits, but only the Zodiac keys were unique. So, did Future Lucy possess a Zodiac key?
"Who exactly are you?"
However, Future Lucy couldn't trust Marlon, a stranger. There was no way she would reveal anything to him; instead, she regarded him with suspicion.
"Let's find somewhere else to talk; this isn't the right place."
Knowing that someone might be secretly watching this Lucy from the future, it was important to remember that according to Future Rogge's information, she was supposed to have closed the Eclipse Gate. If that was the case, then Marlon would inevitably expose himself prematurely.
"Why should I listen to you?"
The magical energy around Future Lucy began to fluctuate.
"Well, we are both members of Fairy Tail. Doesn't that count for something?"
Newton revealed his Fairy Tail emblem. Sometimes, it was just that simple; a straightforward symbol could lead a meticulous person to fully acknowledge you.
"Please, save everyone!"
Future Lucy clutched Marlon's collar as if she had grasped a lifeline.
"I'm already doing that. This isn't the place to talk; follow me..."
Marlon led Future Lucy directly to his clinic, asking Jiang to fetch some tea. Seeing Future Lucy in such a state made him genuinely worried about her health.
"Here, have a cup of tea."
Marlon removed his human skin mask, reverting back to his identity as Newton. While being Marlon was convenient, being Newton allowed him to ascertain certain things more clearly.
"Do you... know me?"
Future Rogge had already confirmed that he did not recognize her. What about this Future Lucy? Did she know him? Or could she provide him with any different information?
As Newton had imagined, Future Lucy shook her head, indicating that she did not know him. This did not surprise Newton; in fact, he thought it was quite expected.
"Then, if you're saying that a thousand dragons will appear soon, then this news is unnecessary. If those thousand dragons are coming from the Eclipse Gate, there's even less reason for concern."
Newton's words genuinely startled Future Lucy, and she looked at him incredulously.
"Where did you get this information?"
"Well, another person from the future—Future Rogue—told me about the thousand dragons and how the Eclipse Gate could be used as a weapon to deal with them. But afterward, that guy turned on me, and when I woke up, I had united all the guilds participating in the Great Magic Games, except for Raven Tail. Everyone else is preparing to face this trouble."
Newton, in an effort to gain the other's trust, nearly laid out his entire plan. Future Lucy was indeed quite relieved, grateful that she had prepared for this moment, yet she still shook her head.
"Not enough, still not enough, far from enough."
Her words were filled with concern.
"You have no idea how powerful the Dragon Clan truly is. Even if we all banded together, we wouldn't stand a chance against a single dragon. We once thought about confronting them through the Mage, but… we were completely outmatched. Even the Dragon Slayer Mage would die…"
Future Lucy clearly recalled something, tears welling up in her eyes as she began to tremble involuntarily.
"It's okay; at least in your world, I'm not there, right? And there’s no talk of alliances?"
Newton tried to comfort her, thinking to himself that he was really doing a lot—first providing psychological guidance to Wendy that night, and now he had to do the same for Future Lucy. Was he in debt to someone?
"So perhaps this situation is very different from what you faced back then."
"You're right, but wait a minute. When did Fairy Tail get you?"
Future Lucy looked at Newton curiously. Indeed, this talk of alliances had never happened before, and who was this guy? He seemed to hold significant influence within Fairy Tail.
"Well, it doesn't matter who I am. The question is, do you have any other news besides this?"
Newton continued to look at Future Lucy with determination. After all, Future Rogge and his own deductions had already covered her situation; was she just here on vacation?
In reality, the important information was limited. Newton thought about it—Future Rogge's news was already sufficient, and Future Lucy seemed to have fewer secrets than Future Rogge.
"Alright, let's do it this way. I'll have Ginger take you to Fairy Tail."
"Wait, I..."
Future Lucy really wanted to meet everyone from Fairy Tail, but in the future, everyone... was dead. Seeing these people now...
Newton felt a headache coming on again. Was this never-ending? If it continued like this, he might as well change the title of the book to "Fairy Tail's Psychologist." He was a technical expert, not a doctor.
So Newton decided to be lazy and let Ginger take Future Lucy out. As for whether Future Lucy and Now Lucy meeting would cause any issues, that had nothing to do with him. Besides, if he had to play the role of a half-hearted psychologist, he deserved to throw in some sarcasm too. So he unceremoniously tossed Future Lucy over, and whatever thoughts Fairy Tail had about it were none of his concern.
"What should we do? In the end, we didn't get much useful information from Future Lucy."
Ginger didn't feel optimistic. Initially, he thought that since an enemy had come from the future, a friend should be able to come too. But who would have thought that this ally seemed even less capable than they were?
"Well, weren't we not planning on relying on others from the start?"
Newton shook his head.
"Let's just do what we need to do."
Looking at the pitch-black night sky, it no longer mattered who came or how they came because everything was already set in motion—whether it was their opponents or themselves...
