"Game?"
Miraj suppressed his anger as he looked at the ugly figure.
"That's right, please follow me."
The ugly one led the three of them outside, while the Hypnotist remained silent, almost like a prop.
"Look."
The ugly one gestured for everyone to look up, and they finally noticed that countless unknown flying objects had appeared in the sky at some point.
"What are those?"
Miraj stared intently at the ugly figure.
"Well, they're a type of Magical Item. Their power is roughly equivalent to a single attack from an ordinary Mage. However, there are probably a few hundred of them up there. If they all attack at once, they won't destroy this place, but causing some casualties is definitely possible."
The ugly one's tone was quite dismissive, but the thought of hundreds of Mage attacks resulting in only minor casualties? Laxus found it hard to believe. He had considered using such means to kidnap everyone in the city. However, the Guild's master was Newton, and purchasing such large-scale weapons would surely raise suspicions. So Laxus couldn't get his hands on them, which raised another question.
"Where did you get these things?"
Indeed, if Laxus couldn't obtain them, where did this mysterious figure acquire such items?
"Oh, we have to thank our Circus's prop master for that. He's quite comparable to this fellow I have here. Sigh, you have no idea."
The ugly one then began to vent his frustrations as if chatting with an old friend.
"We, the Dark Guild, have it tough too. Every year we have to pay tribute to the Three Great Powers, and we’re constantly being suppressed by you all. Life just keeps getting worse. Thankfully, my colleague is skilled; he managed to make these things out of the leftovers you left behind. It took a lot of effort to put this little bit together."
"Enough! What exactly are you planning to do?" Laxus shouted angrily. Meanwhile, Miraj looked conflicted as she glanced at Laxus, while Erza remained silent.
"Sorry, sorry! I tend to talk a lot. Anyway, let’s play a game. Those things are interconnected, meaning if one is destroyed, all of them will activate. So unless everything is destroyed at once, it won’t be safe. Of course, there are other methods."
Laxus was momentarily taken aback by the ugly man's words. "What methods?"
"Here."
The ugly man pulled out something resembling a remote control. Just as Laxus reached for it, the man suddenly withdrew his hand and began to laugh strangely.
"Haha, come on! How could I just hand it over to you so easily? I'm the villain here!"
Laxus felt his teeth grinding in frustration; he swore that once this incident was resolved, he would tear the man apart.
"What I’m giving you is this."
The ugly man placed a collar around Laxus's neck and then produced a remote control.
"You can think of this collar as a bomb. As soon as this remote is pressed, your head will go boom."
He made an explosive gesture with his hands.
"Control over your life will be randomly given to someone from Fairy Tail. It could be anyone, but at the same time, this collar also serves as a deactivation device. Once triggered, everything will fail, meaning you will die, and this town, your Guild, will be safe."
"But correspondingly, I will give you the device that activates these things. You can trigger this device, and when activated, it will reverse the effect of your collar, saving you. How does that sound? Your life is equivalent to the life of the entire town. Don't you feel particularly proud?"
"Proud of what?"
"Alright, game time. Let's set it for one hour."
Ignoring the furious Laxus, he glanced at his watch and suddenly seemed to remember something, tapping his head.
"Sorry, sorry! I forgot that all those things were set by us. The moment I arrived, they were activated, so now you have less than forty minutes left."
"You..."
"Well then, we’ll be leaving. I hope you can survive this game; I'm quite serious about it."
Laxus watched as he slowly walked away, gritting his teeth in anger.
"Wait a minute, Newton! President, what are you going to do?"
Miraj called out to him.
"Don't worry; I'll hand over the remote control and the President to the same person."
He shook his head and left with the Hypnotist and two hostages.
"Are you serious?"
As soon as they left, the two of them quickly changed into new outfits. Newton then deactivated his Memory Body, and Mister Gang let out a sigh; if a fight broke out, he would really feel a bit cowardly.
"Of course... it's not like that. Don't worry, there won't be any danger."
The pale figure was Newton, who would never truly put everyone in danger. He handed the remote control over to Makarov.
"This remote?"
Makarov thought to himself, could this really cause any harm to Laxus?
"Don't worry, I've got everything under control. It's just a prank."
Newton smiled lightly.
"What about those things?"
Makarov couldn't help but think that those looked like Thunder Palace.
"Those are the result of a failed experiment; they're useless for anything other than defense. If someone attacks, they'll retaliate. I once considered creating an offensive tool, and the final product was Thunder Palace; this is just a defective version."
Newton's explanation finally eased Makarov's mind.
"That's good to hear. So, what are we going to do next?"
"I need to leave first."
It was at this moment that Mister Gang suggested leaving, as that face of his really wasn't suitable for appearing in public.
Newton and Makarov did not intervene; they both understood the situation at hand.
Mister Gang left directly, while Makarov turned to Newton.
"Our best course of action now is to head back and gather everyone together."
Newton smiled slyly and looked at Makarov.
"President, all you need to do is pretend that everything is real and play your part. The rest can be left to everyone else."
Newton had great confidence in the members of Fairy Tail, but he knew that after this, a beating was probably unavoidable.
"Should we let everyone choose?"
Makarov was aware of his grandson's popularity, and given the scale of this situation, he sighed. However, like Newton, he believed in his guild.
The two of them began to gather the members of Fairy Tail as they leisurely made their way back.
