After the events on the island, Newton returned to the Guild with three companions and a cat.
However, to Newton's surprise, it seemed that something had changed within the Guild.
Surrounding the Guild were countless large iron rods, yet the Guild itself appeared to be completely unharmed.
"We're back."
Upon his return, the Guild was as noisy as ever.
"Is the Guild planning some renovations? What's with all the iron rods outside?"
Newton approached the counter, ignoring Makarov as he lectured the three clueless individuals.
"Ah, that's due to an attack from Specter."
Miraj's words made Newton raise an eyebrow. The walls of the Guild looked like ordinary stone, but they had long been reinforced by Newton using Alchemy, supplemented with defensive magic. Ordinary attacks had no effect on the Guild whatsoever.
"Do they want to die?"
Newton lit a cigarette.
"Weren't you and Erza able to catch them?"
"It was Iron Dragon Gajeel from Specter. Since he can eat metal, I had to step in."
Miraj seemed unfazed by the situation.
"His strength is about the same as Natsu's, not as strong as the legends say."
"Yes, yes, yes, our Mira is the strongest."
Newton chuckled teasingly.
"But that’s already a provocation, isn’t it?"
Newton felt somewhat fortunate to have met Ultia on the island. Having someone from his side within the Magic Council would make things a bit easier if they ended up in a conflict with the other side.
"Don't go stirring up trouble."
Makarov smacked Newton on the head with his hand.
"Since there’s basically no loss involved, it could be troublesome if the Magic Council catches you. If it’s a matter between two guilds' martial arts, even you wouldn’t be able to resolve it so easily."
"I know, I know."
Newton shrugged, but he knew that a Guild War wasn’t just about martial arts.
"That mission is complete; I’ll be on my way."
He headed straight to where Jin was.
"Hey."
"You've returned. Here are the latest updates on Specter. It seems that Iron Dragon Gajeel has already entered the city."
Jin placed a document in front of Newton.
"Thanks. By the way, spread the word: anyone with the Specter mark who comes to our shop will have their prices multiplied by ten. If someone is willing to withdraw a mission posted by Specter, we can reimburse fifty percent of the reward. If any Mage wants to leave Specter, we can offer them severance pay. Also, hire some trolls to tarnish Specter's reputation..."
Jin nodded as he listened to Newton's orders. Being in the city, he was aware that Fairy Tail had been attacked by Specter's people and understood that Martial Arts was unlikely to intervene; this situation could be considered the best outcome.
"Also, you could write to the Royal Family and impose political sanctions."
After hearing this, Jin continued to offer suggestions to Newton.
"Alright, you handle that. By the way, save a copy of our latest Magical Transportation Device for me; I might need it for a trip to the Magic Council."
Newton remembered he needed to bring a gift for Ultia.
"Understood," Jin replied with a nod.
"There are also these items that need your attention..."
After finishing up his work, it was already night. Newton yawned as he made his way back, but halfway there, he sensed something.
"Clang!"
The sound of metal clanging made Newton raise an eyebrow. He moved to a dark corner and saw Reby and the others being attacked by a bruised thug.
"Clang!"
One of the thug's arms had transformed into an iron rod, which Newton caught with his mechanical arm.
"The body has undergone a transformation, not a shapeshifting technique? So you are the Iron Dragon?"
Newton frowned. His Mechanical Arm was made of metal, and if it were consumed by this opponent, it would be quite troublesome. He glanced back at Reby and the others; they were injured but seemed to be okay for now.
"Hah, another prey! This time, I’ll teach you a lesson!"
Gajeel was furious. Not long ago, he had received orders from the President to destroy Fairy Tail's Guild. However, after shooting out a few iron pillars, he was struck down by a red-haired woman who devoured his weapon. Then, a white-haired woman came out and gave him a thorough beating. After finally recovering somewhat, Gajeel couldn't wait to stir up trouble again.
"Is it because you can't defeat the strong that you can only bully those weaker than yourself?"
Newton mocked with a smile.
"Is this the style of Specter? Truly a cowardly bully."
"Iron Dragon Rod!"
His arm transformed back into an iron rod and lunged at Newton.
"Useless. The same technique won't work on me."
Newton gently caught the iron rod with one hand.
“Alchemy!”
Although Gajeel was using magic, it was still fundamentally iron, which was just another element for Newton to transmute.
As a result, Gajeel's iron rod transformed into a torch, the kind that the Statue of Liberty holds.
“What the hell is this!”
Gajeel swore directly, but he was relieved that his arm could still revert to its original form.
“Don’t you think this is interesting?”
Newton smiled and vanished from sight.
Gajeel felt a jolt of fear, but Newton had already appeared beneath him. With a swift motion, he slapped the ground with one arm and kicked Gajeel's chin with his feet. However, it felt as if he had kicked steel.
Newton stood up and delivered a punch to Gajeel's face, producing sparks upon impact.
“Alchemy!”
Gajeel’s face morphed into something resembling an abstract painting from Da Vinci's workshop. The three onlookers, including Reby, couldn't help but laugh; his face was far more amusing than any pig-like visage.
“What have you done to me…”
Gajeel quickly dispelled the magic on his face, but Newton immediately threw a punch.
"Ugh!"
Gajeel's physical strength, enhanced by magic, was still no match for the Mechanical Arm. Newton landed a punch right on Gajeel's nose, causing him to cry out.
"Ugh!"
Gajeel shouted in anger.
"Iron Dragon's Steel Fist!"
Newton shook his head; this kid just wouldn't learn. He placed his hand back on Gajeel's.
"Alchemy!"
This time, Gajeel had actually learned a lesson. His body manifested a layer of iron similar to Dragon Scales, but Newton felt it was time to change his approach.
Suddenly, a protrusion appeared beneath Gajeel's feet. Newton sidestepped, and Gajeel tumbled outwards. However, he managed to maintain his balance and stood up after a few rolls.
But Newton had no intention of letting up. As soon as Gajeel regained his footing, Newton was right in front of him. The Mechanical Arm pressed down on Gajeel's head, forcing him to the ground, where cracks immediately spread across the surface.
"Damn it!"
It seemed that being a Dragon Slayer Mage had its perks; Gajeel gradually pushed himself up. Newton simply loosened his grip, causing Gajeel to stumble.
An Alchemy spell formed a large hammer in Newton's hand, which he swung sideways, striking Gajeel's face. However, Gajeel had reinforced his defense with steel scales, so he merely staggered from the impact.
But then the Mechanical Arm emitted a strong current. Newton's Mechanical Arm was not only powerful but also equipped with several Magic Crystals for conveniently releasing some Alchemy spells.
With the enhancement of Newton's Alchemy, the lightning grew larger, resembling a serpent of thunder. Iron is conductive, and in an instant, Gajeel was engulfed in darkness, collapsing to the ground after exhaling a breath.
"Fainted?"
Newton raised an eyebrow.
"I'm not done playing yet."
He pulled out a bag, knowing that in the city, it wasn't practical to carry everything around all the time. However, it was fine to bring a bag for some interesting items.
From inside, Newton retrieved a nose clip and a restraint strap filled with mustard chili sauce.
"Want some?"
He turned to look at Reby and the others. The three exchanged glances, recalling how badly they had been beaten earlier. With mischievous intentions, they approached him.
