"Alright, now you are officially one of us at Fairy Tail."
Makarov looked at the Fairy Tail emblem on Newton's left shoulder and nodded with satisfaction.
"Old man, there must be more to discuss, right?"
Newton raised an eyebrow. He didn't believe that his matters could be settled so easily. Although he had handed over those things to the country, who would ever think they had enough control over their own technology? While Fairy Tail was indeed a part of this kingdom, such a relationship was likely quite tenuous for the royal family.
"Well, next you might need to make a trip to the imperial capital."
Looking at Newton, Makarov couldn't help but sigh. Was there really someone in this world who was born with such knowledge? Not only did he understand the wonders of Alchemy, but he was also so sensitive to politics?
"However, you don't need to worry. I'll have Kildas take you there. Rest assured, Kildas is an S-Class Mage from Fairy Tail, and his strength is absolutely formidable. You don't need to worry about your safety."
"I'm not worried about safety on the road; I'm more concerned about what happens once I reach the capital," Newton said with a hint of frustration.
"Don't worry. The arrangements for your situation have already been decided by everyone. Even the Royal Family wouldn't dare to go too far. Also..."
Makarov looked at Newton.
"If you're strong enough yourself, or if new discoveries are made by others, your importance will diminish significantly."
"That's true. In fact, the key point is that these things of mine are only novel at best. Once others fully understand them, I'll essentially be of little use."
Newton had decided not to reveal everything he had, as encountering such a situation again would be quite troublesome. Just like Makarov, if one was strong enough, the danger they faced would be significantly reduced.
Makarov had also called Kildas over.
"Hello, I'm Kildas. Are you the so-called Wandering Merchant? I hear you possess a remarkable Alchemy skill? Let me see what you can do."
Kildas was a young and handsome man, though he already sported a bit of stubble on his face, indicating he had moved past his youth. However, the carefree aura he exuded made it easy to perceive him as a playboy.
"Alchemy!"
Newton rolled his eyes, but it wasn't for show; he genuinely needed a mechanical arm.
Metal began to slowly rise from the ground, and one mechanical part after another appeared, assembling themselves automatically until a mechanical arm stood before them.
"Wow, this is amazing!"
Kildas excitedly reached out, eagerly examining the mechanical arm Newton had created from every angle.
"Is this the power of Alchemy? It truly is remarkable."
Makarov nodded in agreement.
"However, this seems somewhat different from the Alchemy I know."
It was actually quite normal. Once the Gate of Truth appeared within his body, Newton felt that his Alchemy and the Alchemy described in the books were significantly different. Originally, Alchemy required an Alchemy Array, but Newton had just performed Alchemy without using one; he had directly transmuted with one hand.
"Well, it must have mutated due to the combination with my own magic," he could only explain to himself. He then looked at Kildas, who was still playing with his mechanical arm, and snatched it away with annoyance.
"Hey, I wasn't done playing yet!"
Kildas looked reluctantly at the mechanical arm that Newton had taken from him. Boys always seemed to have an insatiable desire for mechanical things.
"This is my arm. When yours breaks, I'll make you a new one."
Newton replied gruffly as he positioned the Mechanical Arm onto his right shoulder.
"Click!"
In an instant, Newton felt as if his brain had been pierced, but immediately afterward, his right hand began to move just like a real arm.
"It seems pretty good."
He tried to grip something; it felt decent, though he still lacked sensation and felt a bit unaccustomed to it.
Newton sighed.
"Haha, you might really need to help me in the future."
Kildas said this with a smile, showing no signs of anger towards Newton.
"Alright then, you two head to the capital. Try to go early and come back early. Newton, keep an eye on Kildas and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble out there."
Makarov instructed Newton.
"Wait a minute, shouldn't I be the junior? Why am I the one taking care of this guy?"
Newton looked confused; shouldn't it be the elders taking care of the younger ones?
"Sigh, Kildas, you'll understand in time..."
Makarov patted Newton on the shoulder, sighed, and then left.
"Tch, don't mind that old man. He's just jealous that we young people are in good shape."
Kildas said proudly, then leaned closer to Newton with a mischievous grin.
"Newton, once we get to the capital, I'll take you to experience the adult world~"
Newton twitched at the corner of his eye and helplessly pushed Kildas away with a slap.
"Shall we go?"
"Sure."
The journey to the capital was indeed very safe, as this world had trains and magically powered vehicles. At least no one dared to touch the trains, and the two of them arrived at the capital smoothly.
Kildas dropped Newton off at the palace and left with a sly grin.
Comfort tugged at the corner of his mouth; did this guy really need to be so eager?
"Hello, I am Dutton, and I will be your guide to meet the king."
Dutton was a middle-aged man who looked quite spirited, and he had a decent build.
Under Dutton's guidance, Newton found himself before the king. However, he was somewhat surprised that this king seemed to have a bit too much flattery in him.
"Ah, you must be the talented Alchemist? Nice to meet you, I am King Toma E. Fiore, and this is my daughter, Emerald."
Thomas E. Fiore gestured towards the girl beside him, who appeared quite… noble? However, he noticed her curious gaze.
"A victim of royal education, perhaps?"
Newton chuckled lightly and shook his head.
“Hmm? Shaking your head? You're not an Alchemist?”
The king seemed a bit skeptical.
“No, I am, but I might be somewhat different from the Alchemist you have in mind. Perhaps it's because my Alchemy has undergone some mutations.”
Newton interrupted the king's words, subtly advising him to abandon any thoughts of trying to teach him. As for handing over his magic, it didn't matter much; after all, if many people shared the same magic as him, developing his own magic should become easier, right?
“However, I am willing to share my Alchemy notes to see if more people can learn my Alchemy.”
“Oh, that's quite generous of you.”
The king scratched his head. Having an additional type of magic would greatly benefit the kingdom, so he pondered for a moment and then cleared his throat.
“Then, I hereby declare Newton Isaac a knight of the kingdom, with a monthly stipend of ten thousand j, and a member of the Royal Mage Corps. How does that sound?”
Wait, Your Majesty, this is your reward; why are you asking the recipient? This was already quite generous for Newton, but in reality, it held little significance. A knight had no real power compared to dukes or earls. Ten thousand j was nice, but once he became a mage and took on a few tasks, that would suffice. The Royal Mage Corps? Who cared about that? Newton hoped the kingdom could provide him with some materials instead. However, he knew not to be too greedy; one must learn to be content. So he bent slightly at the waist.
“Ah, thank you?”
