The middle-aged man smiled slightly, choosing not to respond to Huang Yunfeng's rebuttal. Instead, he said, "Isn't there a legend on Earth about cultivating oneself to become an immortal? To put it simply, I am someone who has cultivated to a certain level and ascended. After my Ascension, I went to the Zhendans Star System. It was only recently that I acquired a treasure capable of traversing the universe, which brought me back home for a visit."
Although Huang Yunfeng was still just a teenager and often appeared crude among crowds, his mind was exceptionally sharp; otherwise, his master wouldn't have valued him enough to bring him back to Kunlun. His eyes lit up with excitement as he thought, "I must have the roots of an immortal and be destined for extraordinary encounters. Following this immortal from the Zhendans Star System would surely be far better than joining some mainstream sect like Kunlun!"
The middle-aged man showed no sign of his changing attitude towards Huang Yunfeng. With a single hand gesture, a string of beads appeared in his palm. It was a bracelet made of several unknown materials, each bead emitting a faint dark red glow. Strangely, the beads floated in mid-air above the man's hand, creating an astonishing sight.
Huang Yunfeng was momentarily stunned. He felt the Azure Wind Sword hidden in his palm; this was clearly some kind of magical artifact. He pinched his thigh discreetly, realizing that such an old trick still worked well enough to remind him he wasn't just dreaming.
After revealing the string of beads, the burly man suddenly changed expression, scrutinizing Huang Yunfeng closely before breaking into a smile. "I wondered why the Sarira Beads were acting up; it turns out it's you."
Huang Yunfeng was still bewildered when the middle-aged Brawny Man continued, "You probably don't remember me. I am Shi Qingyuan. I came to Earth this time to search for something. Although I haven't found it yet, I didn't expect to encounter an old friend instead. Fortunately, the Sarira Beads can sense your aura; otherwise, I might have missed you."
Regardless of Huang Yunfeng's astonishment, Shi Qingyuan handed the beads over to him.
"My old friend! This originally belonged to you; I've kept it safe for so many years, and today it returns to you," Shi Qingyuan said.
As soon as he finished speaking, the beads in his hand seemed to be drawn by an invisible force and transformed into a stream of red light that flew toward Huang Yunfeng.
The moment Huang Yunfeng saw Shi Qingyuan take out the dark red beads, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity. Without thinking, he reached out to catch them. The beads that had been perfectly still in Shi Qingyuan's hand suddenly came alive in his grasp. The dark red glow intensified and enveloped him completely. At that moment, Huang Yunfeng realized that these beads were not strung together by any thread; yet for some reason, they did not scatter but instead danced around in his hands, their brilliance growing stronger.
Though still somewhat confused, Huang Yunfeng suddenly gained clarity. Even though he didn't yet know who Shi Qingyuan was, he instinctively felt that this person would not harm him and would bring about unique changes in his life.
"What? You say this is Inner Mongolia? How did you bring me here?" After Shi Qingyuan briefly explained some circumstances, Huang Yunfeng couldn't help but express his astonishment. The city where he lived was at least one thousand seven hundred or eighteen hundred kilometers away from here; even if the other party had spells, it seemed too exaggerated. His master had taught him some basics of cultivation; traveling such a distance instantly required skills that even Kyo Kusanagi likely didn't possess.
Shi Qingyuan smiled slightly but did not answer Huang Yunfeng's questions directly. No matter how many questions Huang Yunfeng asked him, he only received one response: "You'll know once you come with me."
With no other options available to him, Huang Yunfeng realized he had no choice. Without guidance, he wouldn't be able to leave this grassland at all. With his vision sharp enough to read a newspaper from fifteen meters away, he looked around but saw nothing besides grass. In other words, on foot alone, he couldn't escape this desolate place at all. Inner Mongolia was indeed one of China's vast provinces; in terms of area, aside from Tibet, no other province could compare.
The dark red beads that Shi Qingyuan had given him were never taken back. Huang Yunfeng felt a special connection to these beads; he wasn't someone with high moral standards. Once something was in his possession, he wouldn't return it even if the original owner asked for it back, especially since Shi Qingyuan clearly intended to give them to him. Therefore, Huang Yunfeng didn't bring up the idea of returning them.
Moreover, the dark red beads emitted a warm red glow in his hands, making him feel as if he were soaking in a hot spring, incredibly comfortable. His mind suddenly became clearer, and his body felt much lighter.
After following Shi Qingyuan for half an hour, Huang Yunfeng couldn't help but ask, "We were transported here instantly when we arrived. Why do we have to walk now? Can't you teleport us again?"
To this question, Shi Qingyuan replied quite straightforwardly, "I can teleport anywhere without issue, but I can't take you with me. What happened earlier was the Sarira Beads that brought you here; it has nothing to do with my abilities."
Aside from complaining about Shi Qingyuan's inaccurate positioning, Huang Yunfeng had nothing else to say. Shi Qingyuan seemed indifferent to these complaints, listening as if he hadn't heard anything at all, always wearing a cheerful smile that revealed nothing of his thoughts.
Fortunately, it didn't take long for them to reach the place Shi Qingyuan wanted to show Huang Yunfeng. It was a deep pit that clearly hadn't been visited in a long time; if one didn't get close enough, the tall grass surrounding it would have nearly concealed it.
Upon seeing the pit, a strange light flickered in Shi Qingyuan's eyes as he stood lost in thought for a moment. Then something incredible happened before Huang Yunfeng's eyes. The dense grass was parted by an invisible force, flowing like water in waves. Not only did the grass on the surface move aside, but even the roots beneath the ground were gradually pushed away by this force, revealing the land that had been hidden.
Huang Yunfeng was now certain that this man who called himself Shi Qingyuan possessed incredible supernatural powers. However, he still couldn't have imagined how extraordinary this would be. The exposed pit had a diameter of at least half a kilometer. As the soil inside defied logic and surged outward, a large metallic object gradually came into view.
Just one glance left Huang Yunfeng stunned; if he had paid attention to science fiction magazines before, he would recognize this mysterious object as a UFO. The metallic object gleamed with silver light; Huang Yunfeng could think of no other term to describe it besides UFO.
"Alien Immortals use UFOs while Earth immortals use Flying Swords; is there really such a huge gap in trends?" Huang Yunfeng mused.
The object was about the size of half a room and resembled two plates stacked together. However, its upper structure was so intricate that Huang Yunfeng knew it was definitely not a product of human technology. It was over two meters thick and about ten meters in diameter; its overall structure was tight and seamless—at least Huang Yunfeng couldn't find any gaps. On its upper part were things resembling portholes, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't see what was inside.
Shi Qingyuan seemed to know what he was doing; without hesitation, he jumped down into the pit. As soon as he landed and approached the mysterious object, its metallic shell began to undulate and automatically opened an exit. Before entering, Shi Qingyuan turned back and waved his hand with a smile before stepping inside.
After considering for a while, Huang Yunfeng finally steeled himself and followed suit. He knew he had no other choice; even if there were dangers inside, it couldn't be worse than his current situation.
Though the slope of the pit was only about ten meters steep, Huang Yunfeng didn't dare jump down like Shi Qingyuan did. He understood that while Shi Qingyuan's actions looked casual, an ordinary person attempting such a leap would likely end up injured or worse. This only reinforced his belief that Shi Qingyuan was not human. However, he still couldn't connect the idea of immortals with UFOs.
Huang Yunfeng muttered to himself, "It's getting stranger and stranger—someone claiming to be an immortal and an unidentified flying object from outer space..."
As he slowly descended, Huang Yunfeng felt even more astonished upon approaching the mysterious object. Although he came from a rough background, his parents had been loving during his childhood and had pushed him to study hard, so he had a decent foundation in scientific knowledge. Just by looking at the material, he could tell that such a substance could not be refined from anything on Earth.
"What are you doing? Come inside!"
Hearing Shi Qingyuan call him, Huang Yunfeng forgot his awe and quickly darted into the interior of the mysterious object.
Once inside, he was even more surprised. Contrary to his expectations of complex instruments, it resembled an ordinary room. In front of him was a row of control panels that seemed functional, and in the center was a spacious seat where Shi Qingyuan was fiddling with something at the control panel.
Noticing that Huang Yunfeng had entered, Shi Qingyuan turned around and smiled. "This Flying Artifact from Amoeba Planet has quite decent functions compared to its peers. I originally wanted to get one, but I never had the chance. Coming to Earth this time was worth it."
Huang Yunfeng frowned slightly and asked unhappily, "Why not just call it a spaceship? Why refer to it as a treasure? People on Earth aren't that backward; at least we can understand this."
Hearing the displeasure in Huang Yunfeng's tone, Shi Qingyuan paused his work. With a slight smile, he countered, "Is there a difference between gods and aliens in your mind? What's the difference between a spaceship and a treasure?"
Seizing the opportunity, Huang Yunfeng wanted to clarify his point. "Gods are cultivated beings. Spaceships are scientific creations from aliens. Is that unclear?"
Shi Qingyuan still smiled gently and replied, "I'm also an Earthling; I'm just from the Han Dynasty and currently reside in the Zhendans Star System. So where do I fit in? As for whether an alien's spaceship or a god's treasure is more scientific, neither has been proven among humans; there's no guarantee that one is more scientific than the other."
Shi Qingyuan's words left Huang Yunfeng speechless. Indeed, UFOs were still merely legends, and no one could definitively prove the existence of aliens. When it came to illusions, they were no more tangible than legends of gods.
