Wu Dong Shen was filled with confusion, but also consumed by rage.
The person who ambushed him was enveloped in a strange artifact, making it impossible for him to guess their identity. Since arriving at the Gouli Continent, Wu Dong Shen had been ambushed several times. Although he had not been harmed, each incident only fueled his desire for revenge. In his quest to find the one plotting against him, he had slaughtered many innocent beings along the way. When he encountered Fang Lin Kong, Wu Dong Shen casually tested him; upon realizing that Fang Lin Kong was not the culprit, he dismissed him and continued searching for the true assailant.
This time, as he ventured into the Eastern Capital, his goal was to draw out his adversary. Unexpectedly, a Magic Core Star Explosion from the Solar Sage nearly cost him dearly.
Fang Lin Kong was quite familiar with the map of the Northern Gouli Continent. As he and Wu Dong Shen soared past the Bagua Mountain Range and entered the territory marked on the map as that of the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon, he felt a surge of anxiety. The beast's demonic power reached a terrifying level of over seventeen million; if it were to be disturbed, the consequences would be dire.
Wu Dong Shen found it strange as well, but he speculated that his opponent likely intended to use the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon's might to hinder his pursuit, so he did not dwell on it further.
At that moment, a loud howl echoed through the air, filled with evil and cruelty.
Fang Lin Kong thought to himself that Cao Cao's magic door truly worked wonders; just mentioning it once had led to such an effect. Ahead, a valley suddenly erupted with a swarm of giant dragons, their arrogance palpable as they regarded these insignificant beings with disdain.
The mysterious figure accompanying Fang Lin Kong showed no hesitation and charged directly into the midst of the dragon horde. From above, Fang Lin Kong noticed that the lower halves of these dragons were submerged in a Black Water Pool. He surmised that beneath this pool lay some peculiar entity that allowed these dragons to thrive together. Although Fang Lin Kong felt powerless against the grip of the mysterious person, he prepared himself fully, praying that this individual's speed would ensure their safe escape from the jaws of the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon.
However, Fang Lin Kong's hopes were dashed once more. The Nine-Headed Demon Dragon confronted them without using its ancient technique of unleashing shockwaves; instead, it let out a deafening roar that reverberated through the mountains. Countless brilliant rays of light shot up into the sky like colorful ribbons, forming a massive magical array over thousands of miles. This radiant web of light effectively sealed off all escape routes for both intruders.
Wu Dong Shen had previously attempted to slay the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon but quickly realized that this beast was unlike any ordinary creature. However, during their last encounter, he had not come this close and was unaware of its capabilities. As he watched the infinite web of light press down upon him layer by layer, Wu Dong Shen took a deep breath and unleashed his Seven-Style Spirit-Slaying Blade toward one of the dragon's heads. The Dark Red Spirit Rainbow could shatter the Infinite Radiance Realm; when it struck the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon, it emitted countless sparks and blinding light. It seemed as though an incredibly perfect energy shield enveloped the demon dragon, rendering it impervious to Wu Dong Shen's attack.
Meanwhile, the person accompanying Fang Lin Kong let out a cold laugh and suddenly descended straight into the Black Water Pool. Fang Lin Kong felt as if his heart might leap from his chest but found himself powerless to act.
After falling into the water pool, Fang Lin Kong did not collide with a massive body as he had expected. Instead, the space below was empty. He looked up and saw no signs of serpents or dragons, which left him greatly astonished. At that moment, a melodious voice from the mysterious figure beside him said, "This Nine-Headed Demon Dragon is not a biological entity; it is an energy shell created by a peculiar spell. This stagnant water is the source that has condensed such a colossal demon form."
The two descended rapidly. Fang Lin Kong feared that Wu Dong Shen would follow them; there was nowhere to hide here. However, after waiting for a while, there was no sign of movement behind them. When the mysterious person led Fang Lin Kong to the deepest part of the pool, an enormous space appeared before him, comparable to the size of the largest football field, filled with mysterious symbols. In the center stood four gigantic transparent water spheres. It was unclear what strange magic supported these spheres, as they floated in the air without any container. Inside each sphere was a bizarre creature. With just one glance, Fang Lin Kong spotted the nine-headed demon dragon, its eyes closed as if it were in a deep slumber.
The mysterious figure gently sighed and descended in front of the water sphere containing the Nine-Headed Demon Dragon's shell. He said calmly, "Young man, I know your name is Fang Lin Kong. Do you know who I am?"
A flash of insight struck Fang Lin Kong's mind, and he blurted out, "You must be the Demon General!"
In Kyo Kusanagi's world, Fang Lin Kong had encountered Arlen Xuding Si. The Demon Hunter Leader was undoubtedly European. Wu Dong Shen could be ruled out. The old man from the Western Sea was rumored to be quite old, and Zhuang Lou clearly did not possess such mystery. Yuan Qian Kun would not be chased by Wu Dong Shen either. Camberto seemed incapable of handling things so easily under Wu Dong Shen's command. Clearly, among Kyo Kusanagi's most enigmatic figures, Fang Lin Kong had identified the Demon General as his top choice.
The figure smiled slightly and said, "You're not bad; you've guessed my identity on Earth correctly. I can also tell you that my other primary identity is this Nine-Headed Demon Dragon."
Fang Lin Kong took several deep breaths and told himself, "I will no longer be surprised; even if he says this place is the National Assembly Hall, I must remain calm!"
The Demon General paused for a moment and continued, "I actually do not know my true origins either. It must have been several hundred years ago... Yuan Qian Kun obtained the Gouli Heaven's Tome and came here multiple times searching for the required beast genes. Somehow, Wu Dong Shen found an entrance to Gou Li World and broke in here. I was awakened from my slumber and fought him fiercely; however, my three companions could never awaken again. For this reason, I have repeatedly transformed and entered Earth to try to kill him. Unfortunately, every time I left this place, my energy plummeted to a level not far from Wu Dong Shen’s. In our encounters, we merely ended up injuring each other."
Fang Lin Kong pondered for a moment before understanding and said, "So you used me as bait to lure Wu Dong Shen into this place for your revenge!"
The Demon General chuckled darkly but did not confirm or deny it; he simply stated, "I have endured him for a long time just for this moment. Once my Yuan Shen returns to its rightful place and I regain control of my energy body, I will be able to kill him. I will use you once and grant you a benefit; within those three remaining water spheres are the bodies of my unknown companions. If you have the ability to refine them into beast forms, you may ascend to that level of Kyo Kusanagi!"
Fang Lin Kong found it hard to resist this temptation...
