“Fourth Master Uncle! Zhou Qingzhe!?”
If it were any star from the entertainment industry standing in front of Fang Lin Kong, he wouldn’t be surprised at all. But this absolutely impossible combination left him rubbing his eyes in disbelief.
“It must be Twelfth Master Uncle transforming into Zhou Qingzhe to trick me, or Fourth Master Uncle, you’ve been kidnapped by this bastard!”
Fang Lin Kong tried to guess an explanation, but Azure Sky Ancestor didn’t give him the chance to joke around.
“Fang Lin Kong! You don’t need to be surprised. This is the genuine International Demon Alliance’s Asia-Pacific Region Executive Chairman, Zhou Qingzhe. My identity is beyond doubt. I will provide you with all the information you want later. However, we have some urgent matters to attend to, so you need to come with us!”
Fang Lin Kong flatly refused, “I’m currently a hardworking senior student facing the most important college entrance examination of my life. I’m not going anywhere!”
Zhou Qingzhe chuckled and said, “If you want to go to university, just say the word, and we will immediately send you an acceptance letter. If you’re worried about your family, I can find a shapeshifting subordinate to replace you in your daily life!”
Fang Lin Kong retorted angrily, “Nonsense! Do you expect me to have someone else go home with my girlfriend every day? That would be such a loss for me! This is absolutely unacceptable!”
Azure Sky Ancestor glared at him furiously, but Fang Lin Kong was not afraid, and Azure Sky Ancestor had no way to counter him.
It was Zhou Qingzhe who quickly came up with a solution. “Then let’s find someone to replace your girlfriend as well. You can bring her along with us. Don’t worry about her knowing your situation; since you care so much about her, do you plan to keep her in the dark about being a practitioner for the rest of your life?”
Fang Lin Kong fell silent for a moment without speaking. Zhou Qingzhe immediately ordered his subordinates to bring Ding Qingya over properly.
Zhou Qingzhe worked swiftly, showcasing the power of a crime lord. Within ten minutes, they found themselves on the edge of the Arctic Ocean. Fang Lin Kong gazed out at the endless blue waters dotted with floating icebergs that sparkled like crystal and were pure white. The Arctic Ocean is roughly centered around the North Pole and surrounded by Asia, Europe, and North America. It covers an area of 1.31 million square kilometers, approximately one-fourteenth the size of the Pacific Ocean. It is the smallest and shallowest of the four major oceans on Earth, with an average depth of about 1,200 meters; its deepest point in the Nansen Basin reaches 5,449 meters.
This extreme northern ocean is nearly enclosed by land. It connects to the Atlantic through the Norwegian Sea, Greenland Sea, and Baffin Bay and communicates with the Pacific via the narrow Bering Strait. Based on its natural geographical features, the Arctic Ocean is divided into two parts: the Arctic Sea area and the Nordic Sea area. The main part of the Arctic Ocean includes the Kara Sea, Laptev Sea, East Siberian Sea, Chukchi Sea, Beaufort Sea, and various straits around Canada’s Arctic Archipelago belonging to the Arctic Sea area; while Greenland Sea, Norwegian Sea, Barents Sea, and White Sea belong to the Nordic Sea area. The region north of the Arctic Circle is referred to as the Arctic region or Arctic area and includes northern parts of Asia, Europe, and North America as well as many islands within the Arctic Ocean.
The coastlines of continents and islands in the Arctic Ocean are winding; both Asia and North America have relatively wide continental shelves along their coasts. The Arctic Ocean's continental shelf is well-developed and can reach widths of over 1,200 kilometers. A central ridge known as the Lomonosov Ridge stretches from Asia's New Siberia Islands across the Arctic directly to Greenland's northern shore in North America; its peaks generally rise 1,000 to 2,000 meters above sea level while some peaks are just over 900 meters high. This area experiences intense volcanic and seismic activity that divides the Arctic Sea area into several basins: Canadian Basin, Makarov Basin (separated by Mendeleev Ridge), and Nansen Basin. The depths of these basins range from 4,000 to 5,000 meters.
The central part of the Arctic Ocean also contains numerous sea hills and depressions. Between Greenland Island and Svalbard Archipelago lies an east-west underwater highland that serves as a boundary between the Arctic Sea area and Nordic Sea area. The northeastern part of the Nordic Sea area consists of continental shelf while its southwestern part features deep water areas; among them, Greenland Sea is notably deep at over 5,500 meters.
The current system in the Arctic Ocean consists of branches from warm currents in the North Atlantic such as Norway Current, Spitsbergen Current, North Cape Current, and East Greenland Current. These currents enter into Atlantic waters where they are deflected rightward due to Coriolis force; those flowing south along Greenland Island are called East Greenland Current while those flowing south along Labrador Peninsula are referred to as Labrador Current.
Despite the bitter cold of this place, the marine life is quite abundant, particularly near the shore, with fewer species found deeper in the Arctic Ocean. The areas close to the Atlantic edge boast vast fishing grounds, teeming with lush algae—green, brown, and red. The ocean is home to polar bears, walruses, seals, whales, herring, and cod. The tundra is inhabited by valuable-furred snow hares and Arctic foxes, as well as reindeer and sled dogs.
As one of the most remote regions on Earth, most people may only see the Arctic scenery on television throughout their lives.
Ding Qingya looked around nervously while nestled in Fang Lin Kong's embrace. She had a vague sense that something was amiss with Fang Lin Kong's movement technique. However, she could never have imagined that during what seemed like a brief moment of sleep, she would be brought to the ends of the world. Fang Lin Kong had already activated a protective shield to keep her warm, so she did not feel the chill of the snowy landscape. Instead, the pure beauty of this unpolluted place excited her.
"There are only eternal interests in this world; there are no eternal friends. I have never had deep-seated hatred with Zhou Qingzhe, so our cooperation is not surprising. This time he has obtained two items that I am very interested in."
Fang Lin Kong snorted in dissatisfaction. The Azure Sky Ancestor summoned a massive sea beast known as the White Whale and instructed Fang Lin Kong and the others to board it. The enormous White Whale surged onto the shore, opening its vast mouth which was surprisingly illuminated inside, devoid of any darkness.
Ding Qingya watched in curiosity as the Azure Sky Ancestor casually summoned such a dominant creature of the ocean to obey his command. Although she was a well-behaved child at home, she had been fascinated by animation as a kid; the classic sci-fi animation featuring the White Whale had always been one of her favorites.
This time, to accommodate Ding Qingya's feelings, the Azure Sky Ancestor specifically summoned this relatively adorable giant beast. If he had called forth a terrifying creature like a towering Leviathan or an ugly devilfish, Fang Lin Kong would likely have lost his temper on the spot.
The four entered the interior of the White Whale, which boasted instruments comparable to those of advanced submarines. This led Ding Qingya to believe that Fang Lin Kong was a descendant of extraterrestrials on Earth. Fang Lin Kong intended to explain that he was a genuine Earth boy with proper roots; however, the Azure Sky Ancestor discreetly transmitted a message to him: "We are about to meet Erna Zroma's kin; they are true cosmic visitors."
Fang Lin Kong casually asked, "Didn’t Zhou Qingzhe capture five sisters of Erna Zroma? Why would he let that vile woman go? And Fourth Master Uncle, why did you just watch me get beaten without stepping in to help? That’s really inconsiderate!"
The Azure Sky Ancestor was nearly choked with anger at Fang Lin Kong's words. At his age, even when facing top figures among monsters like Zhou Qingzhe and Zhang Rongying from opposing sides, he would never dare to speak such disrespectful words. To hear Fang Lin Kong say he was inconsiderate in front of Zhou Qingzhe and Ding Qingya was something he hadn't encountered in a thousand years.
Zhou Qingzhe smiled slightly and said from the side, "These warriors from the Divine Charm Clan will serve as research samples; five are already sufficient. There’s no need for more. Besides, I also want to know how these extraterrestrial warriors perform when fully powered. Back then, when I teamed up with Old Zhang, we easily captured these weakened Divine Charm Tribe Female Warriors without knowing what special abilities they possess when at full strength!"
Fang Lin Kong nodded and said, "So it’s a method of wild breeding for observation purposes. I suppose there are many personnel around Erna Zroma conducting observations and recordings!"
Zhou Qingzhe smiled slightly but did not confirm or deny it.
Ding Qingya listened quietly; although she was quite curious, she didn’t rush to ask questions since she knew Fang Lin Kong would eventually explain everything to her.
As the four entered the control room of the White Whale, they felt a slight tremor beneath their feet, a sign of the White Whale diving into the ocean. As the massive screen unfolded, Ding Qingya realized they were surrounded by a gigantic semicircular glass dome, transparent all around. Various fish and marine creatures from the ocean floor seemed to be right before their eyes.
She tugged at Fang Lin Kong's sleeve and whispered, "Where are we going?"
Fang Lin Kong shrugged and replied, "I don't know either, but you don't need to worry. The farthest we'll go is just beneath the Arctic ice. We won't be heading to another planet!"
Ding Qingya giggled and said, "I actually want to visit another planet, see the craters on the moon, check if there are Martians on Mars! Then fly to Centaurus..."
Fang Lin Kong patted his girlfriend's head and chuckled, "You've either watched too much sci-fi or too many romance dramas. I don't have the ability to leave Earth just yet. Don't pay attention to those two idiots; they can't do it either. They can only show off here on Earth!"
Azure Sky Ancestor pretended not to hear, while Zhou Qingzhe looked awkward but didn’t refute him. Such blunt truths might be unpleasant to hear, but they were facts that no one could change.
The White Whale was far more effective than an icebreaker.
Recently, Azure Sky Ancestor had equipped this White Whale with ice-breaking capabilities, allowing it to easily pierce through even the thickest ice layers. Traveling beneath the ice often revealed many extraordinary sights. Ding Qingya's beautiful eyes sparkled as she suddenly gasped, pointing at the ice layer above and tugging hard at Fang Lin Kong.
Fang Lin Kong looked up in astonishment; encased in the ice was an enormous insect. It resembled a Summer Cicada but was far too large for any cicada known! This creature's size exceeded four kilometers.
Azure Sky Ancestor was equally dumbfounded.
