Arlen Xuding Si wondered how Fang Lin Kong could know his secrets; prophecy was not his specialty. Thus, he was only half-convinced by Liexiezi's words.
"My subordinate, as a member of the Demon Hunting Team, is tasked with slaying demons. If your disciple mingles among humans, how could he provoke my subordinate's attack if he were law-abiding?" Although Allen couldn't claim to be righteous, he held a deep affection for his homeland. The appearance of such a powerful demon like Liexiezi compelled him to either eliminate the threat or force the demon to retreat from England.
After being reborn as a Celestial Demon, Liexiezi had mastered the Mystic Transformation of the Nine Heavens, yet he always felt that his identity was a burden. He was particularly sensitive about being referred to as a "demon." Seeing Allen present himself in such a manner made Liexiezi quite displeased. He slowly replied, "If that's the case, what are we waiting for? If you want to fight, then let’s fight!"
Allen smiled slightly, his black priest robe billowing in the wind. He raised his hand and began to chant, "O guardians of the celestial realm! May you transform into flowing light and punish every soul that deserves judgment! Light of Celestial Judgment!"
Realizing that this enemy possessed unfathomable strength, Arlen Xuding Si unleashed one of the strongest spells of the Demon Hunting Team: the Light of Celestial Judgment.
Liexiezi had never encountered an opponent from the Western magic system before and was somewhat unfamiliar with the incantation style. When he saw Arlen Xuding Si reciting the spell, he missed the opportunity to attack. To Allen's eyes, this behavior indicated that his opponent was bold enough to attempt breaking his strongest spell in one go to establish dominance. Therefore, after casting the Light of Celestial Judgment, he waved his hand, and a Holy Cross Spear appeared in his grasp. Not only was Allen a master of the Psycho Gun, but he was also skilled with cold weapons like spears. With the Holy Cross Spear in hand, his speed doubled as he thrust it towards Liexiezi's chest like a shooting star.
Caught off guard for a moment, Liexiezi noticed a strange rift in space above him from which countless bolts of light thundered down; the judgment light from above was falling rapidly. One bolt after another struck down, and Liexiezi's Innate Sword Artifact split into numerous green sword strands to counter these bolts. However, the power of the Light of Celestial Judgment was already considerable; in the hands of an expert like Allen, it could last for several hours on the battlefield. In such circumstances, Allen would hold an absolute advantage.
Facing a dual assault without fear, Liexiezi was also adept at altering weather patterns. As lightning rained down upon him, he shouted loudly and spread out a transparent barrier of ice. Although he no longer had Aqua Water Elite at his disposal, he could still manipulate water molecules in the atmosphere and alter their structure at will.
The Light of Celestial Judgment from Arlen Xuding Si was blocked, and his Holy Cross Spear was struck hard by a massive Azure Light cannon blast. Liexiezi had an innate sensitivity to changes in battle; even his senior brother Voidbreaker had suffered setbacks against stronger opponents. How much more so would Arlen Xuding Si be?
"How did Zhou Qingzhe's Azure Dragon True Spirit Cannon end up in your hands?"
Arlen Xuding Si took a step back in surprise; he had already regarded this opponent highly but now realized he had underestimated him.
With one move pushing back his enemy amidst Allen's astonishment, Liexiezi raised his hand and unleashed the Azure Dragon True Spirit Cannon repeatedly, shattering the rift above Arlen Xuding Si where otherworldly lightning leaked through. The azure beams surged into it and immediately restored the spatial crystal wall. The Light of Celestial Judgment vanished without a trace.
Fang Lin Kong struggled desperately but found himself encased within not just his Triple Shield but an additional layer of faint Golden Radiance. No matter what methods he employed, he could not break through this confinement. Unbeknownst to him, this layer of Golden Radiance was none other than the Golden Mist Barrier that often troubled Liexiezi—a powerful defensive artifact carried by Voidbreaker.
Realizing that he could not dispel this Golden Radiance, Fang Lin Kong gave up trying and idly watched as Liexiezi battled Arlen Xuding Si. At some point, Arlen Xuding Si had released his Battle Barrier. Regardless of how brilliant their exchanges were, Fang Lin Kong found himself puzzled after watching for a while. Every sword technique used by Liexiezi was one he understood well; even simple swordplay became extraordinarily effective in Liexiezi's hands as it effortlessly neutralized Arlen Xuding Si's various attacks.
Allen's techniques were always unexpected. However, after observing for some time, even Fang Lin Kong noticed that those attacks were flashy yet ineffective—full of grandeur but yielding no substantial results in battle.
"Why are such useless techniques able to suppress that old monster Liexiezi? Are they merely playing around? Or is Liexiezi hiding his strength while pretending to be weak against this foreign handsome guy? But that doesn't seem right; Liexiezi doesn’t strike me as someone with such a sense of humor!"
Fang Lin Kong had never stepped into Divine Extremity and thus had no idea what battles between Divine Extremities entailed.
Liexiezi’s cultivation had already reached Divine Realm status; although their paths differed and he couldn't break through the spatial crystal wall or ascend from calamity, as a Celestial Demon on Earth, he stood at the pinnacle of cultivation. At this level shared by both Liexiezi and Arlen Xuding Si, there was almost nothing they could not see through. No technique or spell application could deceive their keen eyes.
Arlen Xuding Si was a master of offensive magic, and his spells were immensely powerful. Against other opponents, they would have been utterly defeated by his magical onslaught, left in tatters as he ruthlessly overwhelmed them. However, when faced with Liexiezi, each of Arlen's spells was easily deciphered, their origins understood, and he found himself unable to gain the upper hand. The fundamental difference between magic and the Eastern Immortal Path lay in the reliance of high-level magic on the energy of the natural world. Once that energy fluctuated, the effectiveness of the spells would dissipate. Only those who cultivated magic could form a magic core within themselves, possessing an inexhaustible source of magical power to compensate for this flaw. Regardless of how high Arlen's cultivation was, he could not form a magic core due to being enveloped in Holy Power, leaving him at a disadvantage in his battle against Liexiezi.
Realizing that Liexiezi had reached the same level of cultivation as him, Arlen's surprise was palpable.
On Earth, Kyo Kusanagi had established his position for decades. In earlier times, there were only six Divine Extremities; Allen and Camberto had only entered the Divine Realm in the last century. Anyone who entered this realm or any other beings experienced significant changes in their life forms. Although Kyo Kusanagi did not appear particularly unusual on the surface, his essence no longer belonged to the realm of life.
Once one stepped into the Divine Realm, the collapse and reorganization of their physical body became inevitable. The size, direction, and nature of their abilities depended on what their reorganized body looked like. Zhuang Lou could manifest his Yuan Shen at will and traverse the Four Seas effortlessly. The body of Western Sea could be reshaped at any time to fit his desires, making it his strongest weapon.
The leader of the Demon Hunting Team had long suppressed the underworld; his ability to reorganize his body was as mysterious as he was. Wu Dong Shen was said to have cultivated a method similar to Lin Yu's Eight-Nine Yuan Skill after achieving mastery, allowing his physical form to disperse into gas at will, changing endlessly. Camberto's power stemmed from the mysterious Black Flame; thus, his true form was said to be an unquenchable black flame.
As for Yuan Qian Kun, even Arlen Xuding Si, who had fought him several times, could not fathom what this Old Monkey's physical reorganization looked like.
Breaking through the crystalline barriers of space was a feat any practitioner could attempt if they possessed sufficient strength. However, entering another dimension was not something most practitioners dared to try. Without reorganization after bodily collapse, both practitioners and monsters would be unable to withstand the drastically different environment of Earth and would perish instantly. Only beings like Kyo Kusanagi—who resembled humans yet were not—could traverse Alternate Dimension Space with their formidable restructured bodies.
Arlen Xuding Si's physical form had already dissipated the moment he entered the Divine Realm. His current body was composed entirely of pure energy, akin to a mythical angelic being. He noticed that Liexiezi's physical form was strikingly similar to his own. Although their constitutive energies were vastly different, they were both purely energetic with no trace of material flesh.
After some probing, Arlen developed a keen interest in Liexiezi. Just as he was about to apply further pressure on him, an Azure Light pierced through his Battle Barrier as Azure Sky Ancestor appeared on their battlefield.
With a stern expression, Azure Sky Ancestor addressed Arlen Xuding Si: "Mr. Allen, I want to know whether you are Zhou Qingzhe's lackey or a member of the Demon Hunting Team? Why did Zhou Qingzhe mention just days ago that he would summon Kyo Kusanagi to deal with us? And now we see you here?"
Arlen smiled slightly and replied, "If it weren't for this gentleman abducting someone right before my eyes, I wouldn't be so combative. However, aside from Kyo Kusanagi on this planet, there seems to be another hidden master I've been curious about—your friend."
Azure Sky Ancestor chuckled softly and said, "Junior Brother Liexiezi intervened because your subordinates were bullying my nephew; it wasn't an abduction at all. You can ask Fang Lin Kong if he is familiar with us."
When Fang Lin Kong realized he was being mentioned, he quickly spoke up: "Fourth Master Uncle! Senior Liexiezi, please let me out! This Golden Radiance will refine me if I stay here any longer!"
Azure Sky Ancestor exchanged glances with Liexiezi before retracting the Golden Mist Barrier without fear of Fang Lin Kong escaping. He subtly gestured toward Liexiezi with an inquisitive look in his eyes.
Azure Sky Ancestor then said: "This is Mr. Arlen Xuding Si from the Demon Hunting Team—the youngest among Kyo Kusanagi’s ranks. Twelfth Disciple should get closer to him in the future!"
Only then did Liexiezi realize why all his efforts had been in vain; it felt like winning a lottery by facing off against Eight Gods and Extreme Humans.
Fang Lin Kong held no fondness for any of the three present. However, Azure Sky Ancestor could move freely within Arlen Xuding Si's Battle Barrier—a feat he could not match. Occasionally glancing at him sent icy chills down Fang Lin Kong's spine.
"Once these three birdmen finish chatting, how should I confront this old monster Liexiezi? Should I return all my treasures? The Four Treasures of the Demon Gate have already fused with my Divine Refinement; there's no way I can get them back! I'm reluctant to part with Liexie Twin Hooks; I haven't even figured out how to use Aqua Water Elite yet; Solar Pearl doesn't matter much though. But if I tell him I've accepted everything else and only have these few useless items left to return... I'm afraid that old monster Liexiezi will chop me into pieces!"
Arlen Xuding Si had been reluctantly involved in internal strife within the International Demon Alliance when ordered to assassinate Zhuang Lou—it was a last resort. He had no intention of recklessly battling against Liexiezi whose cultivation level was unfathomable while Azure Sky Ancestor loomed nearby with immense power. This time out of seclusion came with a significant mission: monitoring the Blood Clan during their Hundred Years' War. Since Liexiezi had nothing to do with his primary task, Arlen was more than happy to let him go lightly.
Liexiezi, however, thought differently. He was in desperate need of a battle to establish his own status. Back in the day, he was also an ambitious individual. He had listened to Azure Sky Ancestor speak of the grandeur of international organizations like the Demon Hunting Team, the American Exorcist Guild, the True Flame Sect, and the Dark Council, and he had considered establishing his own sect. At that time, the Kunlun Celestial Path only had twelve disciples, which was already considered a rare large sect. Now, with thousands of disciples and countless enterprises, the international Dark World organizations often boasted tens of thousands of disciples, employees, and staff—sometimes even exceeding a million. This was a scale and glory that Liexiezi could hardly imagine. Azure Sky Ancestor feared the power of Zhou Qingzhe and others; he had long contemplated, "If I also had a massive force with hundreds of thousands of disciples, how could Zhou Qingzhe dare to move against me? Back then, Blue Plow Ancestor had only hundreds of disciples and was already the Patriarch of the Demon Sect. If I were to revive the Demon Gate and establish dozens of headquarters around the world, wouldn’t that be splendid?"
As Arlen Xuding Si slightly bowed and was about to turn away casually, Liexiezi spoke in a peculiar tone: "Mr. Allen's skills are profound, and the Western Magic system is something I have never seen before. I have heard that your Holy Power cultivation is astonishing; wouldn’t it be a pity to leave just like this?"
Arlen Xuding Si smiled faintly, raising an eyebrow as he replied, "Then what insights does Mr. Liexiezi have?"
Liexiezi chuckled and said, "There’s an old saying in China: 'It’s better to collide than to choose.' Today seems like a good opportunity; I would like to invite Mr. Arlen to share some teachings!"
Arlen Xuding Si slowly shook his head and said, "What a pity! I really shouldn’t refuse Mr. Liexiezi’s kind offer. However, as a member of the Demon Hunting Team, I happen to be entangled with some mundane matters recently. But since I have entered the realm of cultivation, I have always been the one challenging others; I have never encountered anyone who dared to challenge me. Mr. Liexiezi's suggestion has piqued my interest; how about after three months on Valentine's Day night at the peak of the Alps? Shall we enjoy the moonlight and snow together?"
Liexiezi listened to Arlen Xuding Si's strange words and was left utterly confused. He thought to himself, "This foreigner speaks in riddles. What does he mean by Valentine's Day night? Is he referring to Qixi? And what is this peak of the Alps? Enjoying the moonlight and snow? If he's tired of living, he should just say so! I'll freeze him to death!"
Although he was Chinese, there were aspects of Chinese culture that he understood less than Arlen Xuding Si did. The phrase used for this challenge was something Arlen Xuding Si had borrowed from Gu Long's novels. Arlen Xuding Si had a fervent admiration for Chinese culture and was particularly obsessed with martial arts novels. The masterpieces of Jin Yong and Gu Long had left this top expert of the Demon Hunting Team in awe. Although as he grew older he lost interest in pretending to be characters like Ximen Chui Xue or Dongfang Bubai during his demon-slaying days, he occasionally slipped familiar phrases into his speech.
At least he had some understanding of ancient Chinese culture; he didn’t quote directly or make any grand gestures about decisive battles at the Forbidden City. As one of the largest existing classical royal architectural complexes in the world, even Arlen Xuding Si would not want such a historical artistic treasure to be damaged.
Although Azure Sky Ancestor had never read these martial arts novels, he had occasionally entertained himself with pirated DVDs out of sheer boredom. He was familiar with figures like Andy Lau and Zhao Wei and knew that February Fourteenth referred to Valentine's Day. He also recalled Napoleon’s famous declaration that he stood taller than the Alps after stepping on white snow; he had once studied his biography while studying abroad in England under an alias.
Seeing that Liexiezi's expression was somewhat displeased, Azure Sky Ancestor quickly transmitted a message explaining Arlen Xuding Si's specific meaning and provided detailed explanations about the location and date.
