The speaker was Dinaus. After obtaining his Demon Hunter License, he had inadvertently overheard an examiner mention that two three-star Demon Hunter Licenses had been issued this year. Although he had already made up his mind, he couldn't help but rush over to meet Fang Lin Kong again.
This was the first time Fang Lin Kong had seen Dinaus outside. The young genius from the Flame Lion Family exuded a complex aura, half gloomy and half bright. Although his reputation was merely ordinary, every wrinkle in his clothing appeared meticulously arranged, clean and sharp, showcasing his refined upbringing. He possessed an aristocratic charm reminiscent of the male lead in a Caribbean pirate tale.
If Fang Lin Kong could be considered the sunny boy next door, Dinaus was the legendary prince charming. In terms of appearance alone, Fang Lin Kong clearly fell short. Even Lin Yu, who usually wasn't impressed by handsome guys, let out a long sigh, nearly whistling in admiration.
Compared to Dinaus's serious demeanor, Fang Lin Kong had almost forgotten about him. It was inevitable; Dinaus stood as the most outstanding heir of his family, and throughout his life, he had never encountered anyone more talented than himself. In contrast, Fang Lin Kong lived as an ordinary boy from a regular family. After gaining power, he had only met individuals with unfathomable strength or even unmatched cosmic beasts. By comparison, Dinaus hardly seemed significant.
Their paths of growth were so different that their perspectives on the world naturally diverged. Thus, while Dinaus regarded Fang Lin Kong as his greatest rival, Fang Lin Kong thought he was dealing with someone suffering from delusions of grandeur.
As Dinaus approached slowly, Fang Lin Kong felt an unprecedented pressure. This exam had not only benefited Fang Lin Kong and his friends; Dinaus had also made significant progress. His spiritual pressure had become more refined and restrained compared to before. Locked in by Dinaus's Spiritual Awareness, something unprecedented within Fang Lin Kong was ignited.
That was—
—resentment!
"Damn it! This golden-haired little pest is truly annoying. Should I just take him out?"
Fang Lin Kong silently pondered this but left Dinaus with the impression of surprise.
"My provocation has failed to elicit any response from Fang Lin Kong; this Eastern youth's strength is indeed unfathomable! It seems that in our two encounters, the power he displayed is still just the tip of the iceberg; he must be holding back!"
On the scale of values, Dinaus always respected the strong. Therefore, Fang Lin Kong's "I can't stand you!" expression did not provoke any reaction from Dinaus akin to "What are you looking at? Seeking death?"
Fang Lin Kong was accustomed to confronting unfamiliar enemies and analyzing their energy structures in battle. Thus, Dinaus's spiritual pressure did not overwhelm him. Any practitioner at a certain level could create a personal space within themselves known as the Inner Universe. This space existed between reality and illusion and primarily served to house one's personal treasures and combat weapons. It also served as a refuge for one's Yuan Shen. High-level practitioners needed to invade each other's Inner Universes for battles of consciousness. Within a practitioner's Inner Universe, all rules were dictated by that practitioner, making it stricter than any private combat space. Unless one was significantly stronger than their opponent, invading another's Inner Universe would be tantamount to seeking death. As long as Fang Lin Kong completely concealed his aura and withdrew his consciousness into his Inner Universe, there was truly no way for Dinaus to deal with him unless he took the risk of a direct assault.
The two stared at each other defiantly; Dinaus's spiritual pressure made everyone acutely aware of its strength while Fang Lin Kong seemed to have vanished entirely. Eventually, it was Dinaus who found this standoff meaningless and withdrew his challenge first. He said to Fang Lin Kong, "I'm glad you've joined the American Exorcist Guild while I aim to be part of the Demon Hunting Team. We should meet again soon at some event where we will have to fight earnestly. I've heard your friends are also joining the Demon Hunting Team; out of respect for you as my rival, I will take good care of them! Until next time!"
"This guy! Chen Mingbin, if I say he doesn't need to take care of you, and it brings discrimination from the other members of the Demon Hunting Team, you won't blame me, right?"
Chen Mingbin was reluctant to be "taken care of" by Dinaus, but Fang Lin Kong's question immediately extinguished his courage to refute. Although Fang Lin Kong had only met Dinaus a few times, he knew nothing about this foreign youth. However, during his time in the Dark Alliance, Chen Mingbin had heard someone mention Dinaus's family background. He certainly did not want to continue receiving the same treatment he had in the Dark Alliance.
Thus, he quickly replied, "Fang Lin Kong, your personal grievances shouldn't involve me, an innocent party! Besides, I believe in my own strength and that I can earn my rightful place in the Demon Hunting Team!"
Dinaus smiled slightly at the side, not interrupting the conversation between Chen Mingbin and Fang Lin Kong. He simply extended his right hand and said, "I misspoke earlier! My name is Dinaus, a member of the Flame Lion Family. It's a pleasure to meet you!"
Confronted with the olive branch of friendship offered by others, Chen Mingbin was neither as rash as Wen Yi nor as cunning and suspicious as Fang Lin Kong. He politely extended his right hand for a handshake but had other calculations in mind.
Fang Lin Kong watched as Ye Lisha and Wen Yi left one after another. After some small talk, even Chen Mingbin was invited away by Dinaus. Behind a slight feeling of disappointment lay two or three points of excitement.
With a grin, he wrapped his arm around Lin Yu's slender waist and said, "I heard there's a Disneyland in France; I dreamed about it for a long time when I was a child. Why don't we go there first and fulfill our childhood dream?"
Lin Yu was quite generous; although she felt startled when Fang Lin Kong's arm encircled her, she quickly relaxed. She did not scold Fang Lin Kong for such an intimate gesture but responded to his suggestion with excitement.
"Disneyland! I've wanted to see it for ages! Fang Lin Kong, this idea of yours is great!"
Fang Lin Kong wore a humble expression, but anyone could see through his false modesty. However, being honest at this moment didn't suit the atmosphere. Lin Yu took a big step forward but was pulled back by Fang Lin Kong's arm.
"Let's get some transportation first; come with me!"
As Lin Yu was pulled by Fang Lin Kong, she felt his warm and strong hand radiating heat. Instantly, an unusual emotion surged within her as she silently followed him.
For spiritual practitioners wanting to travel quickly, teleportation and flying were not their first choices. Not to mention how much spiritual power and profound cultivation were required for these convenient and graceful methods. Even those with such abilities would not waste their energy recklessly. If one were to exhaust eighty or ninety percent of their power while joyfully traveling abroad only to encounter a familiar enemy with deep-seated grudges, the outcome could be quite tragic.
Of course, if one had Kyo Kusanagi or close to that level of cultivation, they wouldn't need to worry about such energy consumption at all. Such methods would certainly be the best choice. Currently, Fang Lin Kong could fly several dozen kilometers with Lin Yu without issue; the key was that he had more comfortable means at his disposal.
Indeed, in Fang Lin Kong's hands, there was still the Hundred Seas Dragon gifted by Qingmingzi.
Beast of the Hundred Seas:
A man-made creature.
It has a volume of 160 million cubic meters and a mass of 71.48 million tons.
It measures 16 kilometers in length, with a maximum diameter of 700 meters.
Demon Power Index: 168,000.
It is divided into six evolutionary stages.
The purpose of its creation: a weapon of mass destruction.
The first form of the Hundred Seas Dragon is the colossal Sea Serpent, while its second form is a gigantic serpent-headed giant. What do the other four forms look like?
Fang Lin Kong can provide an answer. The third form of the Hundred Seas Dragon is the Hovercar!
As a man-made beast, the Hundred Seas Dragon was designed with several Divine Abilities from the start. Fang Lin Kong has completely broken through the Transformation Realm, allowing him to fully energize himself and completely vaporize the physical body of the Hundred Seas Dragon. Even so, compressing the massive and astonishingly large Hundred Seas Dragon into a Hovercar just a few dozen meters long is still a significant challenge for Fang Lin Kong.
As he sweated profusely while unfolding the Hovercar form of the Hundred Seas Dragon, Lin Yu couldn't help but be momentarily stunned.
When her gaze returned to Fang Lin Kong, it was filled with admiration mixed with a hint of melancholy. Despite being in the same age group, their circumstances and abilities were completely different; the gap between them could no longer be measured by any unit.
Perhaps the Azure Sky Ancestor had considered the concept of all-terrain capability. When it reached water, it transformed into a hovercraft; on land, it became an air-cushioned Hummer, effortlessly traversing deserts, jungles, swamps, and icy polar regions alike.
Six exhaust vents on each side expelled powerful gusts of air. The tall rear propulsion engine flickered with an orange glow, as the Azure Sky Ancestor utilized the Demon Power Propulsor. With the formidable demonic energy of the Hundred Seas Dragon, this Baihai Dragon Hovercar could reach speeds of hundreds of kilometers per hour.
Lin Yu stared for a moment before suddenly grabbing Fang Lin Kong, who was eagerly about to board the Hovercar, and shouted, "Fang Lin Kong, you idiot! How are you going to drive such a massive thing into the city? Even in Europe, Hovercars aren't allowed on the roads, right?"
Fang Lin Kong turned around and grabbed Lin Yu's wrist, pulling her onto the Hovercar. He smiled and said, "This isn't just any ordinary Hovercar; it comes standard with cloaking capabilities, which are essential for a Demon Hunter's vehicle."
Reluctantly pulled onto the Hovercar, Lin Yu could only sit beside Fang Lin Kong, both amused and exasperated. After activating several navigation instruments and downloading electronic maps for all European countries, Fang Lin Kong was also very curious about what level this Hovercar could reach.
As the muffled engine started up, the Hovercar slowly lifted off the ground.
Fang Lin Kong cheered and began to move his hands and feet excitedly. His curiosity got the better of him as he maneuvered the Hovercar up and down, swaying left and right, causing Lin Yu to gasp at times and burst into laughter at others. When he spotted a strange slot and wiped it twice, he found it resembled an ATM credit card interface, which puzzled him greatly. Lin Yu noticed Fang Lin Kong's actions and glanced at the English label above, exclaiming, "Fang Lin Kong! That's where you insert the Demon Hunter License!"
Fang Lin Kong turned to Lin Yu and said, "The Demon Hunter License is a book; it seems like it won't fit in there."
Lin Yu slapped away Fang Lin Kong's probing head and said, "The Demon Hunter License is divided into two parts; there's an electronic card inside that book used for identity verification! You drive for now; I'll give it a try. I can't believe there's actually a network interface for Demon Hunters here!"
Fang Lin Kong pulled his head back but peeked sideways at Lin Yu as she took out a Silver Metal Card from her Demon Hunter License Book. When Lin Yu inserted the card into the slot, a display screen slid down from above the cockpit of the Hovercar.
Fang Lin Kong was gradually getting the hang of driving the Hovercar and casually asked, "What are you looking at?"
Lin Yu was engrossed in her reading and simply replied, "Hmm! I'm checking out some recent news. The Demon Hunting Team released twenty-one Bounty Notices today along with some investigation missions. Moreover, there are currently six hundred seventy-one thousand six hundred ninety-one active missions in total. Oh! Fang Lin Kong! There are also some wanted posters for items here; I remember you have a few of them!"
Fang Lin Kong turned to take a look and indeed saw several posters among a pile of item requests seeking certain magical beasts that he happened to possess. However, after glancing at the rewards listed, he immediately lost interest.
"The rewards are too low! I'm not interested at all. Wait! No way! There's even a bounty notice requesting the elimination of Yuan Qian Kun!"
Lin Yu took a look and confirmed that such a bounty notice existed. She used the internal search function on the website and was taken aback to find that there were tens of thousands of posts offering bounties for Kyo Kusanagi's elimination.
The network of the Demon Hunter is organized by several major organizations, including the Demon Hunting Team and the American Exorcist Guild, with shares held by the True Flame Sect and the International Demon Alliance. As a result, the freedom within this network is almost overwhelming.
Fang Lin Kong was completely unfamiliar with the terrain of any country in Europe. If it weren't for the guidance of electronic maps, he could have easily driven his Hovercar to the Arctic Ocean. Even so, when the two entered the city, Fang Lin Kong still felt a bit lost.
It wasn't until Lin Yu spotted a peculiar sign at a shop on the corner that he reminded Fang Lin Kong, "I think that sign indicates it's an establishment under the Demon Hunting Team. Perhaps we can seek some help there."
Fang Lin Kong readily agreed. To avoid blocking the road, he didn't lower the height of the Hovercar. When he pushed open the door of the shop, an inconspicuous barrier activated.
The plump Flora Dam was smiling as he poured wine for a customer. However, don't be mistaken; this Boss Flora Dam did not run a bar but rather an Antique Shop. His clientele spanned the globe and enjoyed a high reputation in the Dark World. Due to Flora Dam's eccentric temperament, he only accepted a fixed number of customers each year for purchases. Moreover, he would never entertain a second customer in one day. Therefore, today’s guest was both his first and last customer.
This particular customer had exquisite taste and was quite young but possessed extensive knowledge. Their conversation perfectly matched Flora Dam's preferences, which is why they were treated to a rare vintage from Flora Dam's eight-hundred-year collection.
Today’s guest moved flawlessly, every gesture impeccable. Flora Dam had secretly speculated whether his three thousand years of experience and Grandmaster-level magical skills could defeat this individual. However, what frustrated the plump Antique Shop manager was that every assessment concluded that the outcome of such a battle was unpredictable.
This unpredictability did not imply that Flora Dam had any chance of victory; rather, it indicated that if he were to engage this guest, defeat was certain. The only uncertainty lay in how long he could withstand before being overcome.
"This item is called the Eye of Magic! It is a magical artifact from six thousand years ago during the Darsin King era. The manufacturing technique has been lost to time; currently, there are only about a hundred pieces circulating on the market. While it may not be extremely rare, it surpasses any current detector in functionality!"
As Flora Dam introduced his living artifact, he pretended to casually adjust the angle of the Eye of Magic while secretly channeling a surge of magical energy into it. Yet again, he was disappointed when the Eye showed no reaction to the guest standing right before him.
Flora Dam was astonished and grew even more curious about this guest.
"Why have I never heard of such a master existing on Earth? Could they be a reclusive expert?"
During their conversation, Flora Dam not only tested with words but also discreetly employed all his equipment, including items with detection functions from his merchandise. However, he gleaned nothing about this guest's background. It seemed that aside from his own sight being able to perceive this individual, there was no other method to prove their existence.
Nevertheless, this guest displayed remarkable composure and seemed completely unaware of Flora Dam's subtle actions. They continued to savor their wine with a smile while listening to Flora Dam's introduction.
Flora Dam could see no discernible change in the other person's gaze, and with a quiet sigh, he decided to abandon his attempts at probing this mysterious guest.
He reassured himself, "I'm just an Antique Shop Boss now, not a bloodthirsty assassin! It's just a mysterious customer; why am I overthinking this?"
The guest glanced around, seemingly interested in everything but merely picked up items to toy with before casually setting them down, indicating that his interest was superficial and he had no intention of making a purchase.
Flora Dam introduced a few of his prized collections, feeling somewhat disgruntled by the situation. He thought, "I refuse to believe that nothing here can spark your desire for possession!"
This guest carried himself with an air of sophistication. With years of business acumen, Flora Dam could tell that this individual was a genuine buyer who could certainly afford to pay top dollar. Thus, he shifted the conversation and said, "Perhaps the items displayed in my shop aren't enough to pique your interest. How about we admire some non-sale items instead?"
Upon receiving a nod of agreement from the young guest, Flora Dam smiled and waved his hand. Instantly, a complex magic circle with a diameter of one and a half meters appeared beneath their feet. The guest hesitated for a moment but then stepped onto the magic circle without hesitation. A flash of yellow magical light enveloped them, and they vanished from sight.
At the moment the teleportation magic circle activated, Flora Dam sensed someone intruding into his Antique Shop. However, he was well-prepared for unexpected visitors; the defensive magic array outside would block anyone he did not welcome.
The young guest also noticed the intrusion through a Spiritual Wave but saw that Flora Dam's expression only slightly changed before returning to normal, so he chose not to speak up.
Flora Dam chuckled and said, "Just an impolite fellow; I hope he doesn't dampen your spirits. My Antique Shop isn't so easily accessible!"
At that moment, the intruder was none other than Fang Lin Kong, who had come to ask for directions!
