Mountain Spirit is a legendary mountain said to have existed in the past. It is rumored that during the early days of Rune Power, Demacia was surrounded by multiple forces led by Noxus, with the mysterious Equilibrium Sect also involved. Jarvan II led the remaining thousands of knights to defend the front lines, and just when they were pushed to the brink, a towering mountain appeared on the battlefield.
According to the accounts of retired veterans, the mountain acted like a natural barrier, splitting the battlefield into two halves. It soared into the clouds, rugged and steep, impossible to traverse. Its grandeur was unmatched, indestructible, and no one could destroy it. The invading forces, unable to overcome this obstacle, were forced to take a longer route, giving Demacia enough time to regroup.
By the time the invaders spent months circumventing the mountain to reach the front lines, Demacia had amassed tens of thousands of troops, ready for battle.
Strangely enough, after this conflict concluded, that mysterious mountain vanished without a trace.
Due to the passage of time, historical records from that era are scarce; nonetheless, that mountain came to be known as Mountain Spirit among the people of Demacia, symbolizing protection and defense.
When Garen saw this skill, he was momentarily stunned but gradually came to terms with it, considering the enigmatic nature of the System.
Though merely a legend, the heavy will of Mountain Spirit has been passed down through generations.
This is the soul—the will from the great mountain.
Garen felt as if he were enveloped by a translucent Mountain Spirit, exuding an imposing presence. He disregarded the attacks from the barrier and moved towards its weak point using Heart of Agou.
No matter how powerful an attack may be, it cannot shatter the will of millions!
However, this scene left Bald Man and his companions utterly dumbfounded.
“He’s holding on… he’s doing it so effortlessly!”
“Are you kidding me? Is this guy really a fourth-tier powerhouse? How can he possess such strength!”
A chill ran down Bald Man’s spine as he felt a wave of dread. He began to feel fortunate that Garen had such a calm demeanor; after all, with that level of physical prowess, one casual slap could easily end him!
Even in the face of absolute power, breaking through barriers usually involves finding ways to “unravel” them. The existence of barriers resembles stable magical formations with intricate and complex structures made up of countless Magic Patterns. A true powerhouse can effortlessly identify key points to sever these Magic Patterns.
However, it was rare for someone to endure such a physical ordeal and then proceed to break the barrier.
Yet, upon witnessing Garen's next move, Bald Man was truly frightened.
Garen stopped at a corner of the barrier, then picked up Stormblade and swung it down fiercely. Strangely, the wind blades that met Stormblade seemed to panic and scatter in all directions, completely losing the fierce momentum they had just displayed.
With a loud bang, the ground was cleaved open, creating a deep trench, and the wind blades within the barrier abruptly ceased, vanishing in an instant.
The barrier had been successfully broken!
Before long, the wind blades reappeared within the barrier, but by that time, Garen and the others had already left the area.
Bald Man looked at Tifet, who wore a calm expression, and exchanged a glance with Stalwart Man. They both shared a wry smile. Clearly, their leader had known about this warrior's strength all along; although uncertain, it was not surprising that he could break the barrier.
"My lord!" When Garen turned around, Bald Man and Stalwart Man immediately bowed respectfully.
Legends must be respected everywhere.
"Which direction is the Arcane Crystal?" Garen asked Tifet.
"Just go straight ahead; after passing Sterling Line, you'll find it," Tifet replied with a smile. "There's good news: we've already passed through the most dangerous barrier on this route. The rest of the journey should be smoother. Would you like to travel with us?"
Garen nodded. Since their paths aligned, there was no harm in traveling together for a while. After all, having Tifet, an experienced Left Knight, would certainly make things easier. Just then, Garen suddenly noticed something, and his expression turned surprised.
"That's another piece of good news," Tifet said with a smile as Garen agreed. Then he let out a soft exclamation as he saw Garen take two steps forward, crouch down to pick up a shard, and after a moment of silence, walk off to the side.
Clearly, Garen had discovered something intriguing, and it seemed to be related to something familiar rather than Dead Man's Gorge.
Tifet usually did not pry into others' personal matters, but now that Garen had joined them, he glanced at Deer and said, "Go see if you can help."
Deer nodded and immediately followed after him. Meanwhile, Tifet and the other two settled down to regroup and plan their next course of action.
Garen found a broken blade on the ground.
The blade was not of fine quality; in fact, it could be described as somewhat rough. What truly caught Garen's attention was the aura attached to the blade. It was clear that the blade had been lost for some time, and the aura on it was very faint, but Garen recognized it at a glance...
It was Rune Power.
More accurately, it was a weapon that had once been infused with Rune Power.
This immediately reminded Garen of the companion who had teleported from the Watchtower. Although he still did not know who had arrived, it was certain that they were also from Demacia.
A few minutes later, Garen cut through a barrier and found another fragment nearly a kilometer away.
This time, the aura on the fragment was evidently much stronger.
Garen examined it for a long while but couldn't help frowning tightly.
"Sir Garen, I think I've seen the owner of this weapon," said Lu, somewhat surprised from behind him. "Are you looking for him?"
"You've seen him?" Garen paused in surprise.
"Yes, just when we entered Ahn'Qiraj," Lu nodded. "At that time, he was fighting someone else. To be honest, we wouldn't have paid attention normally since battles are quite common here. What really caught our attention was his opponent."
"Who was it?" Garen pondered for a moment; anyone who could fight against a wielder of Rune Power would obviously not be weak.
Lu took a deep breath and said, "It was Angry Beasts."
Angry Beasts...
Garen thought for a moment before exclaiming in surprise, "The werewolf Angry Beasts?"
"That's right, the master of Summit of Ten Thousand Mountains," Lu nodded. "However, that guy's combat power is astonishing. Even the enraged Angry Beasts would find it hard to gain any advantage... These fragments must have been shattered when his weapon clashed with the wolf claws. If we search carefully, we might even find a broken tooth from Angry Beasts."
Garen lowered his head in contemplation for a moment before asking, "What happened next?"
"Well..." Deer's expression turned a bit strange. "You might not believe it, but just a second ago they were fighting fiercely, and then suddenly they became partners... teaming up to search for the Arcane Crystal."
Deer hesitated; such a story would be hard for anyone to believe. Can you imagine two people who were just trying to kill each other suddenly teaming up to hunt for treasure?
However, Garen did not question it. Given the nature of a Valoran warrior, it was entirely possible.
Just like when he had been competing with Sharg for the Steelback Demon Wolf, Garen had also fought fiercely before they ended up cooperating and dividing the spoils.
"Sir Garen, is that person your friend?" Deer asked curiously.
"Friend..." Garen observed the aura on the blade, and after a moment of silence, he shook his head. "I don't know."
Although the aura on the blade undoubtedly belonged to Rune Power, strangely enough, this particular Rune Power felt unfamiliar to Garen. He was certain it did not belong to any of the runes he was familiar with...
But that didn't matter now. If this mysterious compatriot's goal was the Arcane Crystal, then it was only a matter of time before they met.
Deer glanced at the sky and was about to ask Garen if it was time to head back when suddenly! His pupils trembled violently as he saw Garen spring into action, swiftly grabbing Stormblade!
He slashed straight ahead!
