At the end of the Red Carpet, at the entrance of the West Gate of the castle, stood four black-clad Blood Clan members. Compared to the Blood Clan Soldiers at the outer gate, their strength was evidently greater, indicating that this was already part of the banquet.
"This..." The other party took the invitation from Garen's hand, their gaze falling on the layer of fresh bloodstains.
Then, they spotted Su Ye's name on the invitation, and their expression relaxed as they stepped aside for Garen.
Clearly, in the eyes of these Blood Clan guards, anything related to Su Ye was beyond their reach. Of course, there was also a possibility that these guards had encountered similar situations before, and it too had something to do with Su Ye.
Regardless, it was evident that Su Ye held a special status among the Blood Clan; no one dared to openly offend her, yet no one stood by her side either. This invitation was a prime example.
A veiled threat.
The interior of the castle was vast, filled with winding staircases and long corridors. After following the Handmaiden for about twenty minutes, Garen arrived at a Gorgeous Hall.
More accurately, he stood at the entrance of the Banquet Hall.
The intricately carved door was tightly shut, and scattered across the sofas in the hall were several peculiar individuals. There was an Eerie Young Man with blonde hair and slit pupils, a long-haired man with wings sprouting from his back, and even one whose body seemed to be composed of rolling Black Lava, supported only by a skeleton...
They glanced casually at Garen's arrival before continuing their conversations.
Garen sat down at the edge of a sofa. He didn't deliberately scrutinize these individuals, but even a casual glance provided a wealth of information.
Each of them emanated strong waves of power and possessed an intimidating aura; they were clearly seasoned warriors who had survived countless battles or had taken many lives. Particularly striking was the winged man; his dark silver eyes were chillingly cold, evoking an instinctive shiver.
More importantly, these individuals were all dressed in Black Suits like Garen. In other words, everyone present were attendants of powerful Blood Clan figures.
Considering Su Ye's unique position within the Blood Clan, Garen helplessly pinched his brow. Yes, regardless of whether these fierce individuals were enemies or not, they certainly could not be allies.
"From Solomon's?" A deep voice boomed like thunder. "Why haven't I seen you before?"
Turning towards the voice, Garen saw a Brawny Man with a Cross-Handled Greatsword on his back, his copper-like eyes coldly fixed on him.
"I haven't seen you before either," Garen replied calmly. It was clear that the other party was looking for trouble.
As a result, a few gasps echoed through the hall, and others cast glances filled with schadenfreude.
Clearly, waiting in the hall was quite boring, but witnessing a fight would certainly be entertaining! Based on everyone's understanding of Brawny Man, he was not someone who would easily back down, especially considering his master had always been at odds with Su Ye... This promised to be a good show!
"What?" Brawny Man blinked in surprise, then became furious. "Watch your attitude when talking to Tastandin! Do you believe I will tear you apart?"
Garen looked at the hot-tempered fellow. "I've seen the invitation; here, powers cannot be used."
This castle, as an important hub of Starsea City, prohibited any fighting. Of course, mere words of prohibition were ineffective, so there were powerful magic circles set up underground that automatically suppressed everyone's powers.
Garen had noticed this as soon as he stepped through the door.
"So you feel invincible now?" Tastandin sneered as if he had heard the most ridiculous joke. "What does it matter if you can't use your power? I can still tear you to shreds with one hand!"
With that, Tastandin drew his Cross-Handled Greatsword. As the broad blade left its sheath, a chilling aura spread out, and frost began to form on the ground.
Tastandin's Freezing Command was crafted by a master from the Dwarves. It was said to be embedded with the Heart of Frost from Great Snow Mountain. To forge this weapon, Tastandin had offended quite a few people, including several attendants present. However, the high cost also meant great rewards; after Freezing Command was born, anyone thinking of causing trouble for Tastandin would have to think twice.
Garen did not know the identity of his opponent or where his hostility stemmed from, but recalling Su Ye's demeanor made it less surprising. He slowly drew Stormblade from his back and gripped it tightly.
"You’re bothering me, Tastandin," said a man with silver eyes, frowning as tension thickened in the air.
Tastandin's gaze flickered; he seemed somewhat afraid of the other man but still forced himself to say, "Lucifer, this is Lord Kachin's intention; it has nothing to do with you. And you saw him disrespect me; I must teach him a lesson!"
"The lords are about to come out," the silver-eyed man said coldly.
"It won't take long to deal with this guy," Tastandin sneered at Garen dismissively. "And no matter who comes, they won't be able to save him."
Tastandin's tone was filled with confidence.
It is not hard to understand, after all, no one in the Blood Clan likes Su Ye, and naturally, no one cares about Garen's well-being. As for Su Ye, since Tastandin's provocation was clearly orchestrated by someone, it is very likely that the other party might do something else, perhaps delay Su Ye for a moment?
At the same time, Tastandin's attitude also indicated a problem: in the eyes of these people, Garen did not possess particularly formidable strength. Yes, although Thirteen Castle had been embroiled in internal strife for years, it was unlikely to hide a master. However, since none of these attendants had seen Garen before, they would form a preconceived notion—Garen was merely a pawn from Solomon, meant to replace Bai.
This situation inadvertently provided Garen with certain advantages.
It is important to know that in a perilous environment, recklessly revealing all of one's strength is a foolish act.
Just then, a hoarse voice interrupted Garen's contemplation.
"What if it were me?" A middle-aged man leaning on a cane stepped out from the other side of the corridor.
At the same time, the woman with long red hair on the sofa quickly stood up, grabbing a two-meter-long sword and moving behind the middle-aged man.
"Lord Chilisen!" Tastandin was taken aback, seemingly not expecting the other party to be the first to emerge.
The middle-aged man casually scanned the room before his gaze settled on Garen, a smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. "I want to speak with you privately."
"Lord Chilisen, this..." Tastandin became anxious.
"Do you have any objections?" Chilisen frowned slightly.
"No objections!" Tastandin felt a chill run down his spine and immediately shook his head. It should be noted that in Thirteen Castle, Lord Chilisen's Asamait Clan ranked third, far surpassing Tastandin's Gargoyle Clan. Moreover, Lord Kachin had yet to successfully ascend to power; even if she encountered Chilisen, she had to maintain a respectful demeanor.
Thus, even knowing that Kachin would be angry, Tastandin could only watch helplessly as Garen and Chilisen walked into a distant room.
However, what puzzled Tastandin the most was why Chilisen would help that guy.
After all, as supporters of Acheron, the Asamait Clan clearly regarded Su Ye as their number one enemy!
In the dimly lit room, Chilisen sat in a chair while the Red-Haired Woman stood beside him, leaning on a two-meter-long sword, her cold gaze fixed on Garen.
"Is there something you need?" Garen asked, puzzled.
"I tend to divide people into two categories: the smart and the foolish. The latter may perform heroic acts that earn them posthumous fame, but ultimately, it holds no real significance. The former, however, often find clues in the details, foresee problems before they arise, and determine the most advantageous position for themselves. Do you understand?"
Chilisen's lips curled into a cold smile. "I hope you can be one of the smart ones."
Garen replied calmly, "So you were the one who sent the invitation?"
"What invitation?" Chilisen paused, struggling to comprehend Garen's words.
Now Garen felt confused; was that finger not sent by this Chilisen? And was that threat not from him?
Chilisen looked at Garen with suspicion before finally shaking his head. "Let's get down to business. I have a task for you. Once completed, you will receive the benefits you desire."
Garen narrowed his eyes. "What task?"
Chilisen waved his hand, and the Red-Haired Woman pulled out a test tube from her pocket, filled with a thick purple liquid.
"Pour this potion into Su Ye's drink."
