As night fell, Garen made his way to the old building on Rona Street once again.
After last night's encounter, the Necromancer had seemingly vanished without a trace, as if he had evaporated into thin air.
Moonlight streamed in through the window, allowing him to gaze down the entirety of Rona Street. One could imagine Mogao standing in this very spot, watching as nine women were brutally violated by his Soul, even displaying a sense of satisfaction.
Clearly, he was a deeply disturbed psychological deviant, or perhaps simply a madman.
On the southern wall was a large hole, created by Garen's forceful impact the previous day. Reflecting on the events of last night, especially Mogao's parting words, an inexplicable premonition stirred within him—perhaps they would indeed meet again soon.
However, for now, Garen was merely assisting Mayor Tutulu. As long as there were no more fatalities in town, this matter could be considered resolved. As for the Necromancer, Garen felt indifferent; if necessary, he could always confront him again.
Just as Garen turned to head downstairs, a mechanical voice echoed in his mind.
"Congratulations, host! The System has completed its autonomous update after seventy-four days!"
"This update aims to assist the host in enhancing their abilities more effectively and swiftly through 'justice.' The first mission following this update is about to be announced..."
"The evil Necromancer has invaded the town, allowing his Soul to wreak havoc and slaughter over ten people. The crime index is 5!"
"Mission: Eliminate Evil Necromancer Morgo! Mission reward: Exquisite Rune Fragment!"
"Additional hint: The Undead Staff in Mogao's possession is a special weapon that harbors extreme death energy! It can be used to balance energy at the Watchtower!"
The task? Garen couldn't help but feel a bit taken aback by the actions of the Holy War System.
However, upon further reflection, it made sense. After all, the construction of the Watchtower was imminent, and the Holy War System naturally had an obligation to unconditionally assist Garen. Yet, allowing Garen to gain without effort seemed somewhat contrary to the purpose of the System, which was why there was a "task."
Thinking about it this way, it was likely that this "self-updating for seventy-four days" was merely a temporary excuse found by the System.
"The Undead Staff..." Garen stroked his chin, suddenly grasping the crux of the matter.
In fact, as soon as Yasthia mentioned extreme energy, Garen had linked it to that staff. Last night, when Mogao wielded it, even Garen felt the chilling and eerie aura of death. The System's hint only confirmed his suspicions.
In any case, Garen truly couldn't think of a reason to let that Necromancer go.
After leaving Rona Street, Garen returned to his Rental Apartment on Roland Street to begin refining Venom.
From last night's confrontation, it was clear that the Soul under Mogao's command was quite troublesome; even Garen found it difficult to break through that heavy defense quickly. Therefore, before engaging in real combat, he needed to rapidly enhance his own strength.
Of course, there was another important reason: as the extreme energy of the Watchtower, Garen himself had to reach level 12.
The light green liquid flowed into his stomach, immediately causing a violent rumbling. Countless white particles exploded, tearing through Garen's Qi Xuan, muscles, and blood vessels... At the same time, an astonishing Fighting Spirit erupted and merged into Garen's body!
About half an hour later, this torturous pain finally subsided.
"Resilience!" Garen's eyes slowly closed as an Emerald Battle Aura radiated from him, quickly swirling around and expelling the remaining toxins from his body!
After about ten minutes, when the Resilience state faded away, Garen had nearly fully recovered. He picked up a cup of Venom that had been prepared on the table and gulped it down again!
Another long period of torment!
The long-term effects of Venom had left Garen increasingly numb to the basic pain; such levels of discomfort no longer stimulated his nerves.
Before long, a surge of Qi Xuan erupted within Garen, a torrent of Fighting Spirit cascading forth like a waterfall, pouring into the vast realm of Qi Xuan!
He leveled up!
Garen opened his weary eyes and accessed the System panel.

...
After scanning through the attributes, Garen finally withdrew his gaze. Having taken Venom twice in succession, he felt extremely fatigued; even with his eyes open, he could sense a heavy drowsiness. Climbing onto the bed, Garen fell asleep.
He slept deeply.
It was unclear how long he had been asleep when the wooden door of the Rental Apartment was knocked heavily. Garen was jolted awake and turned to see that the sky outside was slightly brightening, still early in the morning.
When he opened the door, he was greeted by a handsome young man who flashed a sunny smile.
"Who are you?" Garen's gaze lingered for a moment on the man's White Hound hat.
"Hello, stranger! I'm glad to have a conversation with you! Here's the thing... my companions and I are dealing with something very important, and we would like your cooperation," the Dog-Hatted Man said with a gentle smile.
"What kind of help do you need?"
"Please step outside."
"What?" Garen was taken aback, wondering if he was still dreaming or if the man had hit his head on the stairs while coming up.
"You heard me correctly," the Dog-Hatted Man maintained his smile. "The matter we are handling is quite special. All the other residents in this building have already cooperated and left; you're the last one!"
"Alright, how long will it take?" Garen asked.
"Well... I'm not quite sure. It could be three minutes or maybe three days!" the Dog-Hatted Man pondered before responding.
Garen shook his head, unwilling to agree to the request. Just as he was about to refuse, he caught sight of the scene in the corridor.
Behind the Dog-Hatted Man stood two young men wearing hats, Moose and Lion. One appeared to be a refined Blonde man, while the other was a towering figure, almost unusually large.
A few meters away stood a figure clad in Mithril Armor, waiting in front of Yasthia's door, seemingly anticipating something.
At that moment, Yasthia's door slowly creaked open, and she emerged, still groggy from sleep.
"What is it..." Yasthia's voice suddenly trailed off as she stared in surprise at the Armored Man before her.
The man slowly knelt on one knee, removing his white glove from his right hand and then placing a fist over his left chest.
"Eagle Academy, Left Knight Tifet, reporting!"
The three hat-wearing men perked up and also knelt on one knee.
"Holy Academy's Dog, Lion, and Deer, reporting!"
