Five minutes later, Oshuria approached with a golden cane.
He scanned the surrounding guards with a detached gaze, ultimately settling his eyes on Dachi in the wheelchair.
"Where is Rody?" Oshuria asked straightforwardly.
"He won't be coming," Dachi replied gravely. "I will be taking his place in this Feast of War."
"You?" Oshuria frowned and shook his head, as if he had just heard a ridiculous joke. "That's not what we agreed upon. Although you are also of Ekria's bloodline, the person we made the agreement with is Rody. Besides, this duel was proposed by him in the first place."
"He's still just a child! This is merely a decision made in a moment of passion! To let him face off? That's absurd! Are you really going to pit this group of underground fighters against a child who isn't even ten years old?" Dachi's emotions began to rise. "You're asking for his death!"
Yet, in the face of Dachi's anger, Oshuria merely shrugged indifferently.
"I thought you would have known by now."
"You..." Dachi was taken aback by the other's blunt admission, momentarily speechless.
He couldn't help but smile bitterly. Anyone with clear eyes could see that this duel during Feast Night was nothing more than a means for Oshuria to swallow Ekria whole, preventing the family line from regaining control. Oshuria's attitude made everything clear; indeed, he didn't care at all about Dachi's thoughts.
Including Dachi, no one could stop this battle from happening. Ever since Huxiu Neier went missing, they had plotted everything out; now, Ekria was merely being pushed to its final climax as planned.
"Let Rody go and allow me to participate in this duel..." Dachi paused for a moment, struggling to speak. "I beg you..."
"I admire your courage and your concern for your nephew," Oshuria said mockingly. "But to be frank, you have no value to me right now!"
"Find Rody, or else I will..."
Before Oshuria could finish speaking, Dachi suddenly interjected, "I am now in charge of Ekria."
Oshuria's words came to an abrupt halt as he quietly regarded Dachi.
Ekria was established by Rody's father, Huxiu Neier. According to the rules, once he had been missing for four months, the ownership of the family would transfer to Rody, and Dachi would merely be a temporary leader. This was precisely why Oshuria claimed he had no value for manipulation.
However, whether it was four months, four days, or even four hours, as long as Dachi remained the leader of Ekria, there were countless things he could do.
"What do you mean?" Oshuria squinted his eyes and slowly smiled.
"If I lose, Ekria will belong to you..." Dachi said bitterly. "With the authority I currently hold, I can make that decision..."
"I must say, I'm increasingly impressed by you. For that little guy, you're willing to become the family's scapegoat?" Oshuria laughed heartily.
"But there is one condition: you must spare Rody! Otherwise, even if I die, I will never let you go!" Dachi suddenly raised his head and said fiercely.
"Heh heh, based on your words, it seems that even in death you'll just be a piece of scrap metal. Dachi, don't overestimate yourself," Oshuria scoffed. "However, if things go smoothly, I will spare that little guy."
With a satisfied smile on his face, Oshuria finished speaking and strode away. Having said this much, he no longer cared about the matter concerning Feast Night. In his view, swallowing up Ekria was a done deal; as for Feast Night, it was merely an added bonus. Who would refuse such a bonus?
Watching Oshuria walk away, Dachi let out a deep sigh, feeling as if he had aged ten years.
Half an hour later, amidst the cheers from the crowd at Drinker, Feast Night commenced.
The first to step onto the Arena was an ordinary subordinate of Aurei and a guard from Ekria.
The young warrior charged at the guard with a furious roar, unleashing an impressive Level 4 Fighting Spirit. However, the guard easily blocked the attack. Faced with an equally powerful Level 4 Fighting Spirit, the young warrior was pushed back a few steps. Seizing the opportunity, the guard moved in and delivered a powerful elbow strike right to the young warrior's chest.
The sound of impact echoed in everyone's ears.
Clearly, the guard was also an elite from the Ekria Family, showing no mercy as he seized his opponent's arm and hoisted him onto his shoulder before executing a devastating throw. With a loud crash, the young warrior slammed onto the Arena floor, his legs twisted grotesquely, instantly rendering him unable to fight.
Ekria emerged victorious in this first battle.
As this result became known, the tavern fell into a brief silence, many patrons staring in disbelief. According to the rumors they had heard, wasn't Ekria supposed to be on the decline? Meanwhile, the Aurelia Alliance was growing stronger—how could they possibly lose?
Could it be that these rumors were deliberately spread?
Was it a conspiracy?!
With this thought in mind, many self-proclaimed savvy drinkers pulled out their gold coins and placed their bets on Ekria for the second round.
As for the nobles, they leisurely sipped their fine wines, completely uninterested in participating.
Many nobles suspected that this was undoubtedly a show put on by the Aurelia Alliance!
They aimed to make Aurei's warriors appear defeated, creating an illusion of overwhelming strength for Ekria. In this process, even if they lost some gold coins, it wouldn't matter. Once the betting shifted entirely in favor of Ekria, they would secure a massive fortune with an absolute victory!
Of course, realizing this did not stem from any particular cleverness among these nobles; in fact, nearly all of them understood that the Ekria Family had long since become a mere shadow of its former self and possessed no real power at all.
Seeing through this performance meant being able to snatch a piece of meat from the mouth of the Aurelia Alliance.
The nobles grew increasingly eager.
In the second round of battles, Ekria achieved a decisive victory.
The Drinkers began to feel inspired, and even those who had hesitated before placed their gold coins on Ekria.
In the third round, Aurei sent out a somewhat famous warrior, but they only managed a narrow victory.
Although they lost this round, most of the Drinkers realized that Ekria's strength was seemingly undeniable. This only strengthened their belief; the pile of gold coins for Ekria was almost forming a small mountain, continuously slipping to the ground!
The nobles watched these coins with growing excitement.
After seven rounds of competition, the cheers for Ekria had reached a peak, and both sides were nearly equal in numbers. Soon, it would be time for the crucial moment!
As another round concluded, they finally welcomed the last battle.
From Aurei's side, suddenly appeared the level 5 warrior Black Scorpion! The most likely candidate to become the champion this year!
On Ekria's side, Dachi rolled his wheelchair and approached the Arena alone, amidst a sea of astonished gazes, preparing to clumsily climb up.
Around him, shouts of insults and sounds of cups being thrown erupted from somewhere in the crowd.
"Where did this Lame Man come from! Get down! Let a strong fighter from your family take the stage!"
"This is clearly Ekria trying to sabotage the gold coins! Who's going to drag that Lame Man down? Just wait, I'll teach him a lesson!"
"Get lost!"
"Damn it, I've bet all my possessions this round. If that Lame Man ruins it for me, I'll break both his hands!"
The curses grew louder.
The nobles, on the other hand, became increasingly excited, raising their glasses and drinking.
Just moments ago, they had placed a large amount of gold coins on the side of the Aurelia Alliance. Now, hearing the commotion only made them admire their foresight even more!
At that moment, the tavern door swung open.
No one noticed as a young boy walked in, squeezing through the crowd until he reached the front of the wheelchair.
"Go back... go back!" Dachi's face, which had already resigned itself to fate, suddenly changed as he shouted in panic.
Seeing Dachi's haggard appearance made the boy's nose tingle with emotion, but he held it back.
"Leave it to me, Uncle Dachi!"
Rody flashed a sincere smile.
