Five minutes later, Rody wrapped himself in a blanket, holding a steaming cup of hot water to warm up.
"Running out this late, aren't you worried your family will be concerned?" Garen asked from the side.
Most children start to rebel around the age of eight or nine, entering what is known as the "rebellious phase," but Rody was different. After experiencing the upheaval in his family, he was far more mature than his peers.
"I escaped..." Rody's voice was nasal, likely from catching a chill in the rain.
"Why?" Garen inquired.
"If I didn't, Dachi would lock me up. He doesn't want me going out these days..." Rody hesitated for a moment.
"Feast Night?" Garen realized.
"How did you know, Mentor?" Rody was taken aback, surprised.
"Edward told me."
Clearly, Dachi did not want Rody to participate in Feast Night. Although it seemed like a mere contest of wills, a perceptive person could easily see that it was a tactic employed by the Aurelia Alliance against Ekria, with Rody being the target.
Rody had made his decision to fight; this was evident from when he first consumed Venom Blade Liquid. He also guessed that Dachi would try to stop him, which is why he had taken the initiative to escape from his family.
However, Rody's choice of destination for his "escape" left Garen both amused and bewildered.
"What made you think of coming here?" Garen pondered for a moment and said, "If we're being honest, the Dostodoro Family is the safest place. And they definitely won't kick you out."
Rody panicked as soon as he heard, "Please don't kick me out, Mentor... I'll only stay for two days. Feast Night is on Saturday, and today is already Thursday! If Dachi catches me, he'll definitely lock me up!"
"I'm not kicking you out," Garen replied with a smile. "But you need to answer my questions honestly."
"Alright... I want more Mysterious Potion, the kind that can boost my strength!" Rody hesitated for a moment before saying.
Garen felt a strange sense of helplessness. He had expected Rody to say something like he felt safe around Garen or that Garen could guide him in the right direction. Instead, it was all about the Venom Blade Liquid...
Most importantly, this straightforward kid really just said what he meant...
"Mentor, you..." Rody noticed Garen standing up and couldn't help but feel anxious, fearing that Garen would open the door and send him away.
"The potion needs to be prepared..." Garen said with a serious expression.
Preparing the potion for Rody was quite a hassle. His physique and Fighting Spirit were still in their immature stages; even the barely noticeable Poison Blade Powder needed to be diluted with Clear Water more than ten times to ensure Rody's safety.
Garen sat quietly beside him, watching as Rody writhed in pain, then fell into numbness, ultimately succumbing to sleep under the potion's effects...
When Rody woke up, it was already noon the next day. He could clearly feel the enhancement of his Fighting Spirit within him.
Turning his head, he saw Garen with his muscular torso exposed, just finishing a set of Muscle Training.
“Are you hungry? Have something to eat,” Garen said with a smile as he saw Rody wake up.
Rody's strength had been completely drained by the medicine. After rinsing his mouth in the bathroom, he rushed to the dining table and began to devour the food, nearly choking several times along the way.
Garen, meanwhile, held a piece of bread, reading the latest weekly newspaper under the sunlight.
According to the original plan, Garen intended to set up two sets of Muscle Training for Rody, personally guiding him so that Rody's significantly enhanced Fighting Spirit could stabilize. However, just as lunch was coming to an end, there was a knock at the door.
Opening the door revealed a gentleman dressed in a Black Purple tailcoat, slowly removing his hat.
“Good to see you again, Sir Garen!” Edward said with a smile.
“Is there something you need?” Garen asked, somewhat surprised.
“Shouldn't you invite me in to sit down before asking?” Edward replied with a hint of exasperation.
“Oh, please come in.”
“To be honest, Sir Garen, you really are quite casual!” Edward chuckled while stroking his chin. “But I won’t go in; the carriage will be here to pick us up in three minutes.”
“What?”
“Oh, I forgot to ask—are you free?” Edward added casually.
“…”
For some reason, Garen felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity in this situation.
At that moment, a small head peeked out from behind Garen, cautiously watching Edward. When it realized he was not the "pursuer" it had imagined, its little face relaxed.
"Huh? There's another person?" This time, it was Edward who was taken aback.
"Yes, I'm afraid I can't go out with you," Garen nodded.
"Rody Ecria?" Edward asked.
"Yes. Is there a problem?"
"No problem at all. Coincidentally, today's carriage can fit three people!"
"…"
Edward always had a way of leaving people speechless, and remarkably, he managed to do so without making them feel rejected.
Three minutes later, Garen and Edward sat across from each other in the exquisite carriage, while Rody sat on a small bench beside them.
As the carriage bumped along the road, Edward briefly recounted Aurei's recent activities.
"Well... since the day before yesterday, Oshuria has hired a large number of Elite Warriors in the city. The exact number is unclear, but there are at least two hundred."
"What level are they?"
"It seems Sir Garen really doesn't understand the rules of the town! Elite Warriors refer to retired veterans from the imperial forces or outstanding fighters who graduated from the Fighting Academy... In terms of sheer strength, they generally range from level six to seven. But levels are secondary; what makes Elite Warriors truly terrifying is their combat experience!"
Garen nodded, deeply resonating with this. It was akin to imperial titles; even if two individuals were both Viscounts, one could be from a remote territory while the other was near the capital. The two identities were entirely different—the former could only scrape by and wait for death, while the latter had limitless potential for advancement.
The environment determines strength!
Although the true nature of this group of Elite Warriors was unclear, it was undeniable that they were far stronger than the warriors of Iron Fist Tavern, as they had been on the battlefield.
"What do they really want?" Garen asked, somewhat puzzled. If it was just to deal with the Ekria Family or Rody, it seemed overly exaggerated.
"Who knows?" Edward shrugged.
"Do you have any preparations?" Garen inquired.
It was safe to assume that the various actions of the Aurelia Alliance were aimed at Edward.
"A little bit," Edward casually replied, then shifted the topic and turned his gaze to Rody.
Since Rody was also caught up in this power struggle, their conversation did not avoid him. Upon hearing the name Aurei, he had already clenched his fists tightly.
"What a lovely child; you are more beautiful than Huxiu Neier." As he spoke, Edward took something out from a cabinet.
"This is a high-quality Fighting Potion. I originally intended to give it to this year's Iron Fist Overlord. However, since you are more attractive than all of them, consider it a gift for our meeting!"
Edward's reasoning was rather flimsy, and Rody momentarily didn't know how to respond. He looked towards Garen for guidance.
It wasn't until Garen nodded that Rody said "thank you," cradling the Fighting Potion in his hands.
...
Garen's residence was very close to Talina's House, both located on Roland Street. Just a brief exchange of pleasantries later, the carriage came to a stop.
Just like the last time, Edward knocked on the wooden door.
Before long, Talina opened the door. She was wearing a white checkered long dress today, looking very lovely under the bright sunlight.
"Brother Edward!"
Talina seemed to be in a great mood as she turned to "look" at Garen, smiling and saying, "It's so nice to see you again, Brother Garen!"
"Hello," Garen replied with a grin.
Then, Talina seemed to notice something and turned her head towards Rody.
"This is Garen's subordinate, a student named Rody..." Edward explained.
Before he could finish his sentence, Talina's voice rang out.
She gently patted Rody's head, her expression gradually calming down.
"Are you crying?"
