Many years ago, the Loran Mountain Range was rich in mineral resources and served as the primary cultivation site for Blackstone Town, bringing considerable wealth and resources to the small settlement. It even ranked among the top towns under the Baron’s domain. However, with the arrival of the Black Dragon Sundgoth, the Loran Mountain Range became its territory, and all intruders failed to leave alive. Its power was immense, leaving even My Lord Baron helpless, choosing silence instead... As a result, Blackstone Town gradually fell into decline.
Years passed, and few dared to mention this event, yet it lingered in everyone's hearts. During those years, Blackstone Town had organized multiple expulsion efforts, but the outcome only depleted the already scarce strength of its defenders.
With scales as dark as obsidian, a body as massive as a mountain, wide wings, and crimson slit eyes... Any resident of Blackstone Town present would instantly recognize it as the Fallen Flame Dragon, Sundgoth!
"Wall of Wind!"
Yasthia immediately cast her spell, summoning a fierce wind to form a barrier that enveloped everyone within it, preventing them from being swept away by the hurricane.
The Newbies huddled behind the barrier, their faces pale as they instinctively turned their gazes toward Garen.
"Can you assess its strength?" Garen stood beside Yasthia, his expression grim.
"A mature Black Flame Dragon possesses at least Second Rank power, but it may be severely injured and not fully recovered..." Yasthia strained to maintain the invisible barrier. "Level 12! Its level is at 12!"
Level 12!
Garen's heart sank. Although Sundgoth had fallen from Second Rank due to its injuries, level 12 power was still beyond his capability to contend with! More importantly, dragons were high-level life forms; their level 12 was worlds apart from that of ordinary level 12 beasts!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The hurricane howled as numerous broken branches and debris danced wildly. Soon enough, two large holes were smashed into the barrier, and gusts of wind rushed in, making it difficult for everyone to stand firm!
At that moment, Sundgoth straightened its massive body, its hill-like head slowly lowering to gaze down at those within the barrier. It was clear that a blazing inferno burned in its slit eyes!
"It’s angry!" Yasthia exclaimed in shock, her voice trembling.
Garen clenched his teeth tightly.
At this point, how could he not guess that Miyelin's delay was not to wait for the White-Clad Woman? More accurately, it was to wait for the White-Clad Woman to thoroughly enrage Sundgoth! From the very beginning, Miyelin had intended to use Sundgoth to wipe them all out!
"I don't want to die, I don't want to die... I want to go home..."
"Please... I don't want to cultivate Fighting Spirit anymore... What kind of monster is this..."
"Don't leave me here... Please... Please! Let me go... I don't want to die..."
In the back, the chubby Lanya Wa began to cry out loud. The Newbies were completely engulfed in despair; everyone except Rody was in tears. For them, nothing was more terrifying than witnessing an enraged dragon!
At that moment, Garen suddenly raised his Greatsword and dashed out of the protective circle of the barricade!
A beam of golden light erupted, roaring like thunder. The trees and stones in the forest parted as if alive, creating a wide path straight toward Sundgoth!
Sundgoth looked at Garen in the golden light with cold eyes, a hint of disdain flickering in its gaze.
It extended its massive dragon claw, casually waving its fingertips. Suddenly, with a loud bang, the golden beam was shattered, and Garen's figure was sent flying out, crashing into more than ten large trees, blood spewing from his mouth!
Seeing this scene, the cries of the Newbies grew even more desperate.
If even Garen couldn't withstand a single blow from it, then who could save them?
No one wanted to die, and no one wanted to die a coward's death! But before such a high-level being, they felt like insignificant ants. The oppression and fear from their race surged over them like a tidal wave, leaving them with nowhere to retreat!
Finally, with a tremendous bang, the barricade shattered into countless sparkling fragments!
Sundgoth glared down at the ants below. Slowly, it opened its fearsome jaws, heat rising from within as raging flames erupted forth! With a whoosh, large trees were turned to charcoal; flames swept through like an ocean, overwhelming everything in their path!
At this moment, even Yasthia felt a sense of despair. It was as if all her strength had been drained away; she collapsed to the ground, trembling uncontrollably. The Newbies behind her had lost even the desire to escape; their faces were filled with despair as they awaited their impending doom.
"Clang!"
Suddenly, a piercing metallic sound echoed!
Garen's imposing figure stood before the barricade, having appeared there without anyone noticing. As the Stormblade was driven into the ground, a three-sided golden runic shield emerged, swirling around him!
"Boom!"
Level 7 Fighting Spirit surged forth, violently colliding with the raging flames, instantly causing a series of explosive sounds. Remarkably, it managed to withstand the onslaught of fire!
The sea of flames was split by the Level 7 Fighting Spirit, sweeping to either side and perfectly shielding those behind him.
From Layton and the others' perspective, amidst the crimson Vast Sea of Flames, that figure resembled a sharp giant sword, cleaving the entire inferno in two!
But all they could see was Garen's back.
The muffled sounds of "thud thud thud" continued relentlessly as the three-sided Runic Shield became riddled with cracks. Garen's front was engulfed by the flames; his skin burned red and blackened, with even flesh evaporating!
"I am glad to be your mentor."
Garen's resonant voice echoed through the chaos.
"First, I want you to remember that a true warrior is destined to be fearless!"
"Bravery can bring unexpected strength and potential... but it is not merely the absence of fear! The courage I wish to teach you is that step forward taken even in the depths of fear, panic, and dread!"
Garen turned his head slightly, revealing a smile.
Given that his cheek had been charred black, this smile was far from pleasant.
But for some reason, Newbies suddenly felt an urge to cry; the previous despair and fear seemed to become trivial all of a sudden...
"Of course, there are those things I mentioned in the first lesson. They are also what I need to say in this lesson."
Garen turned around, a hint of anger flickering in his eyes!
"Never forget why we fight and why we exist!!"
His voice thundered, echoing endlessly!
At that moment, Garen's golden Fighting Spirit suddenly transformed into a vibrant green, surging wildly within him. At the same time, the Burn on his body was visibly repairing, scabbing, and healing!
Garen stood tall, his hands resting on his sword, his resolute gaze replaced by the Emerald Battle Aura!
A mechanical voice sounded.
[Congratulations, host has awakened Talent Skill: Resilience!]
...
Far away from the Black Dragon Mountain Range.
Miyelin and Bai traversed vast mountain ranges, heading towards the distant Blood Clan Castle.
"She'll be happy once this mission is completed, right?" Miyelin said lazily.
"No," Bai replied emotionlessly. "You've delayed too long; she will punish you."
"Punish?" Miyelin squinted and smiled. "Even if it's punishment, as long as I can stay by her side, I can gain a lofty position in Solomon! Just like you; even though you're just an ordinary Blood Servant, the elders bow to you when they see you. Heh heh, soon I'll surpass you!"
"I will report back to her," Bai replied calmly.
"Oh right, I remember now. You were an orphan before, no, even worse than an orphan, you were an Abandoned Slave!" Miyelin mocked coldly. "Are you feeling sorry for those kids? Ha! How embarrassing, I just drank the blood of fifty-six children last month and forgot to share it with you!"
Bai suddenly stopped.
"Hmm? Are you angry?" Miyelin scoffed.
"Sundgoth is over," Bai said coldly.
"That was quick! I thought they could hold out longer; that warrior's physique is quite impressive!" Miyelin sounded somewhat disappointed.
"Sundgoth conceded."
"What?!" Miyelin was instantly taken aback, her anger flaring. "Bai! Do you know what you're saying? This can't be a joke!"
"I'm not joking."
"This is impossible! You severed that black dragon's tongue; how could it possibly spare them?!"
Bai frowned, seemingly struggling to understand as well, but soon she thought of the answer.
"Heart of Agou."
