Ekria was one of the few wealthy families in town, known for their connections with city merchants. Their wine estate was incredibly luxurious, located in the beautiful and prosperous Eastern Suburb Garden. It was said that just the two statues at the entrance were worth a staggering five thousand gold coins. At the same time, Huxiu Neier, the head of the family, was a kind-hearted man who often distributed food to nearby beggars. However, with Huxiu Neier's disappearance, those who came to ask for food had significantly decreased.
Garen carried Rody on his back as they approached the wine estate.
"Master, please put me down," Rody said from Garen's back.
"You are still very weak."
Garen shook his head and rang the bell at the entrance. Before long, a crack appeared in the door, revealing a wary gaze. It wasn't until the maid spotted Rody on Garen's back that she relaxed and opened the door fully.
Under the maid's guidance, Garen passed through the exquisite courtyard and walked down a long corridor until they finally reached the living room. According to Rody, his uncle Dachi was currently in the living room.
Due to Huxiu Neier's disappearance, the situation within the Ekria Family was quite complicated. Rody's uncle Dachi was temporarily in charge, so if Garen wanted to inquire about Azure Sky Iron, he would need to speak with this man. This was also one of his main purposes for coming here. Of course, returning the weak Rody home was another important reason.
"My lord Dachi, I hope you can make a wise decision as a sensible person should! We will return with the contract in half a month!" Voices echoed from within the living room.
Hearing this voice made Garen feel inexplicably familiar. At the same time, Rody's hands on his shoulders gradually tightened, and he began to tremble slightly.
"Ah, Sir Garen?" An elderly man and a middle-aged man stepped out.
Garen paused for a moment before recognizing that these two were Oshuria and Lacreto, whom he had met once at Iron Fist Tavern!
"Could it be that Sir Garen is part of the Ekria Family..." Oshuria leaned on an exquisite golden cane, his gaze shifting between Garen and Rody.
"He is my student," Garen replied.
"Oh, I see!"
Oshuria and Lacreto exchanged glances, seemingly not intending to stay long. They exchanged casual greetings before leaving side by side. As they brushed past, they cast a deep look at Rody.
Garen furrowed his brow, feeling a complex atmosphere between Oshuria, Lacreto, and Rody.
He glanced back at Rody and noticed the little guy's face was somewhat pale.
As they entered the living room, they saw a brown-haired man slouched on a soft sofa, his hair disheveled and his face covered in stubble.
"May I ask who you are?" Dachi's mood was terrible at the moment, but he managed to force a smile.
"I am Rody's mentor," Garen replied as he set Rody down on another sofa.
"I see, welcome! Amy, please bring out a cup of fresh tea!" Dachi instructed the servant, then noticed Rody's pale complexion. "Rody, he..."
"He has overexerted himself in training; a few days of rest will help him recover," Garen explained with a smile.
Dachi frowned as he looked at Rody. After a moment of silence, he said, "Rody, you should stay home for the next few days. Amy will take good care of you."
"I can continue training," Rody said, pressing his lips together.
"I'm sorry, I promised your father," Dachi firmly shook his head.
"I also promised Feast Night," Rody suddenly said.
"Feast Night..." Dachi's expression darkened as he replied, "That was just a joke! No one would hold a child accountable! Moreover, I really don’t want you involved in this matter!"
Rody continued to press his lips together, his eyes reddening.
Dachi's heart softened instantly as he spoke gently, "Leave everything to me, okay?"
"If my problems are yours, then who can take care of yours? Dachi! You’ve already lost your legs!" Rody said emotionally.
Without waiting for Dachi's response, Rody got off the sofa and stormed out of the living room.
"I'm sorry to make you laugh," Dachi said, scratching his messy hair with a wry smile.
"It's fine," Garen shook his head.
It was only then that he noticed Dachi's lower half was covered by a blanket, and using the fluctuations of Fighting Spirit, he could sense the stench of decay beneath it.
"Go ahead and speak. I believe your visit here is not just to send Rody home," Dachi said, his bright eyes contrasting with his disheveled appearance as he looked at Garen.
"Yes, I want to purchase Azure Sky Iron from you," Garen replied candidly.
"Azure Sky Iron... its value isn't high; it's one of the most dismal businesses under Ekria's domain," Dachi lamented, then sighed. "I'm sorry, but under normal circumstances, I could sell it to you anytime, even give it to you out of respect for being Rody's mentor, but that's not possible right now."
Garen didn't look at the tea placed in front of him and showed a puzzled expression.
"You must have noticed that the Ekria Family is facing a significant dilemma," Dachi hesitated for a moment before continuing. "My brother, the head of Ekria, went missing a month ago. After a month of business struggles, Ekria has been utterly defeated."
"Oshuria and their allies?"
"Oh, it seems you know quite a bit!" Dachi said in surprise, then nodded. "Yes, Oshuria and Lacreto have joined forces. The Golden Light Chamber and Thunder Guild have merged into the Aurelia Alliance, which is currently the largest power in town."
Dachi continued, "If nothing unexpected happens, Ekria will be out of the game within a month. All properties under Ekria will fall into the hands of the Aurelia Alliance, including Azure Sky Iron."
"Is there no other way?" Garen asked.
"There are always ways. For example, you could take a trip to Suya City; it's the nearest big city to Blackstone and definitely has supplies of Azure Sky Iron. However, transportation might be a bit troublesome and could be quite expensive."
Garen stroked his chin. Indeed, this aligned with Yasthia's speculation; if this issue wasn't resolved quickly, Azure Sky Iron would become the most challenging aspect of the tower construction project.
"Actually, there's another way," Dachi suddenly spoke up, his voice somewhat subdued. "If you can wait patiently for a month, you'll be able to buy Azure Sky Iron directly from the Aurelia Alliance."
As Dachi mentioned, Azure Sky Iron was merely undergoing a transfer process; it didn't mean that sales channels would close. For a buyer, it clearly wasn't very important from whom they purchased it.
In the realm of Ekria, Dachi's suggestion revealed his genuine desire to help Garen.
"I've thought about this method," Garen replied, shaking his head. "But as Rody's mentor, I shouldn't let him down."
"Is that all?" Dachi was taken aback. With his merchant mindset, he found it hard to comprehend Garen's thoughts.
"Well, there's one more thing. I'm not particularly fond of Oshuria and Lacreto."
Despite the unresolved matters concerning Azure Sky Iron, their conversation was satisfying. After discussing various amusing anecdotes about Rody, it was clear that Dachi was quite fond of him. He even leaned on his cane to guide Garen through the underground wine cellar. However, these actions always left Garen with a bittersweet feeling.
Garen could guess some of the turmoil surrounding the Ekria Family, but as an outsider, he had no reason to get involved.
As he left the estate, it was already evening.
The moment he stepped out the gate, Garen noticed two figures waiting for him outside.
Oshuria and Lacreto.
