Half an hour later, it began to rain. The house was built quite well, and no water seeped inside. Feng sat cross-legged against a pillar, dozing off. As the rain flowed down from outside, he leaned closer to Miss Fortune and murmured, "I just don't understand why women always prefer him over me. In terms of looks, strength, skills, and experience, how am I worse than him?" 0

Miss Fortune looked at Feng in confusion. "What?" 0

"He already has someone. You might want to consider me," Feng said with his eyes closed. 0

"What nonsense are you talking about?" 0

"Throughout the journey, you helped him carry his things and deliberately slowed down for him. When we reached the camp, you assigned him the lightest tasks and never spoke harshly to him. But when it comes to me, during breaks, I'm always on reconnaissance duty, carrying the heaviest load, setting up the camp, and if you find something unsatisfactory, you scold me." Feng opened his eyes in frustration. "We're both men; why is there such a huge gap?" 0

"Are you talking about him and Beiyue?" 0

"Yes." Damn it, did you not hear the key point? I'm complaining about the unfair treatment I've received over the past ten days. 0

Miss Fortune sighed lightly. "Just think about it and let it go. When I was sixteen, I fell in love with an ordinary man—a doctor who had a wife and children. The impulsiveness of youth made me confess my feelings to him. I told him I didn't want to ruin his family, but I had to let him know that I loved him." 0

Feng Dao replied, "And then he had complicated feelings and finally divorced his wife to be happily with you as the mistress?" 0

"What you're describing is a morality play; mine is a tragedy—then he died." Miss Fortune's face showed deep sorrow. "At that time, there was a civil war in the neighboring country. The day after I confessed, he went to the border as a humanitarian doctor to provide support. After performing surgeries continuously and being utterly exhausted, he accidentally cut his finger with a scalpel and got infected. He should have been saved. But that day, armed forces attacked the camp and stole all the medical supplies... At the funeral, his wife cried bitterly. From then on, I was sure that I would only bring misfortune to those close to me. So... do you want to try this curse?" 0

Feng quickly replied, "I'm not afraid of curses, but we have no feelings for each other; we can't force it. I'm just venting because of your unfair treatment." 0

"He's very intelligent and treats people well—at least he's kind to friends. He's humorous, knows how to chat, cares about others' feelings, and is quite charming. It's not surprising that you like him after spending more than ten days together. As for you—cursing like a sailor and acting aloof—it's only normal for you to receive such treatment," Miss Fortune said as she looked at the sleeping Cui Ming. 0

Feng sighed. "If it weren't for the curse, you would fall in love with him." 0

"Not necessarily, but a one-night stand could be considered." Miss Fortune supported herself with one hand, her face just thirty centimeters away from Cui Ming's. She stuck out her tongue and teased, "The fruit may not taste great when it's just ripe, but the quality is excellent..." 0

Suddenly, Cui Ming jumped up, their heads colliding. Miss Fortune flew out of the treehouse as Cui Ming pulled out a boost card, bursting through the structure. A silver claw swept through where Cui Ming had been sleeping, severing the treehouse. 0

Damn it. Wind hurriedly drew his Katana, but it was too late. A figure appeared, meeting the blade's sheath to block the claw. It was the Otherworldly Assassin who had killed the dog earlier that day. 0

The boost card hit Wind, amplifying his Force. The wind transformed into a powerful gust that slammed into the Otherworldly Assassin, sending him flying out of the treehouse. The wind chased after him, slashing in mid-air until they landed. On the tree, Cui Ming sent flying cards slicing toward the assassin. The assassin was incredibly agile, darting through the forest and quickly shaking off Wind. 0

Just as Wind thought he couldn't catch up, Cui Ming's Fate Card activated, flying beside the assassin and immobilizing him. The flying cards struck again, each one drawing blood as they repeatedly attacked the same spot, severing one of the assassin's arms. Finally breaking free from control, Wind unleashed a tornado that engulfed the assassin. With both hands gripping his Katana, he charged forward and thrust it through the assassin's chest. 0

"Damn it," Cui Ming exclaimed in frustration. 0

"Wow," Wind said softly as he withdrew his blade, praying silently for the assassin not to die... The knife came out easily, and the assassin collapsed to the ground like a rag doll. 0

Miss Fortune arrived shortly after. She surveyed the scene and first checked on Cui Ming, relieved to see he was unharmed. Then she looked at the assassin and asked, "Who did this?" 0

Wind pointed at Cui Ming. Miss Fortune kicked the assassin to confirm whether he was alive or dead and said, "Well done! Anyone who dares to provoke us deserves this fate. Wait a minute; this wound is from breaking through Force and delivering a fatal blow while he's heavily injured." 0

Wind sighed. "I did it." 0

"Have you lost your mind? He's already severely injured; why would you go for another stab?" Miss Fortune shouted angrily. 0

Wind didn't want to say anything; he just wanted to find a quiet place to be alone and consider whether he should cut ties with Cui Ming—he truly couldn't stand this kind of treatment any longer. 0

Cui Ming said, "He was dangerous; it's better he's dead. By the way, what did I just bump into?" As the Fate Card skeleton appeared, Cui Ming reflexively woke up and broke through the roof to draw another card. It seemed something had been knocked away by him. 0

"No," Miss Fortune said, not wanting to discuss the matter. "Let's head back first. Wind, take the body with you. We'll study it at the treehouse. I need to take some notes; the Alliance hasn't heard of this Otherworldly Assassin before." 0

Wind didn't want to ask why he had to carry the body. He picked it up and returned to the base of the treehouse, tossing the body aside in silence before going to chop wood for repairs. Cui Ming, unaware of the situation, praised, "That thrust just now was quite impressive. Did you just learn it?" 0

With a blank expression, Wind replied, "Don't provoke me; I'm on edge right now." 0

Cui Ming said, "Just don't burn down the treehouse. By the way, when I said it was impressive, I meant it looked really cool. You and the wind merged together like a sharp gust piercing through everything—very cool." 0

Wind nodded and turned to explain, "That's right; this is the Wind Sword Technique. The saying 'water drops can pierce stone' is nonsense. You can break a stone by smashing it with another stone; it wouldn't take that long. Wind is different; besides swirling, sharpness is a characteristic of wind... I grasped this from working with waves and winds at sea. Today was my first time using it—pretty good, right?" 0

"Yeah, it's quite amazing—fast and seamless, unstoppable. It's hard to dodge or defend against." 0

"You can't dodge it; wind is formless. If you turn, I turn with you. This technique has a follow-up as well; if you try a mutual destruction tactic, I'll stop, but the wind I brought will keep moving forward. Its power may not compare to my main body, but it's still quite lethal." 0

Miss Fortune listened to their conversation from the side and thought about how this was what made Cui Ming stand out more. Although Cui Ming didn't know why Wind was upset, he understood what would make him happy. At times like this, Miss Fortune would think of the term Heavenly Killers' Lone Star. Over the years, many excellent men had appeared around her, some even showing interest in her—what a pity... 0

Forgetting about Key Point, Miss Fortune interrupted Cui Ming and Wind: "Cui Ming, how did you find him? Were you not sleeping?" 0

"I was." 0

"Then how?" 0

Cui Ming pulled out a Card Play and said leisurely, "Everything is in the cards... I need time to meditate; you've worked hard." 0

Miss Fortune waved for Cui Ming to go up into the treehouse and then began examining the body. The Otherworldly Assassin had very few belongings—a set of clothing made from animal hides indicated his level of intelligence. The exposure of his bare body showed a sense of shame that suggested he was close to human thinking. The claws were not weapons but rather fingers resembling bones. Each hand had three sharp implements: one sharp point, one backward hook, and one double-edged blade. 0

A female figure, her feet resembling those of a leopard, was adept at running and incredibly fast. Her abilities remained unknown, as she was already dead. However, this type of Otherworldly Creature was a natural assassin. With sharp, integrated weapons and rapid speed, if invisibility were also instinctual for her, she would be an exceptionally powerful assassin. 0

Wind dragged a piece of wood over and asked, "Why did she attack Cui Ming first?" 0

"That's her strength," Miss Fortune replied. "Attacking any one of us would have allowed the others to retaliate based on our positions at the time. But by targeting Cui Ming, she struck and vanished, leaving us unable to respond to each other. Her tactical arrangements were very meticulous; unfortunately, she's dead now, so we can't know her true intentions for attacking us." Miss Fortune added, "Wind, some things were my fault. Don't take it to heart. There are reasons behind many arrangements, but it was also due to his poor physical condition." 0

"What right do I have to take offense?" Wind retorted before dragging the wood toward the treehouse. "It's fine." 0

... 0

The rain continued to fall as Cui Ming recovered her Fate Card. Miss Fortune was digging a pit nearby while Cui Ming examined the corpse. She turned it over and tore open the back of its clothing, saying, "This might not be an Otherworldly Creature." 0

Miss Fortune paused and asked, "Why?" 0

Cui Ming explained, "If an Otherworldly Creature's hand looked like this, how could it possibly sew animal skin clothing? Look at this outfit; although the stitching is rough, it's quite orderly. If her fingers are half a meter long and sharp as blades, how could she have sewn these clothes?" 0

Miss Fortune replied, "Cui Ming, you're mistaken. Force makes sewing clothes very simple." 0

Cui Ming countered, " Miss Fortune, I'm referring to before they cultivated Force. Unless they were born as cultivators, if their hands looked like this, they could only survive like animals. But from the clothing and how they groomed themselves, it's not like that." 0

Miss Fortune's expression grew serious; indeed, if this race were like that, how could they live? After examining for a moment, she said, "The pelvis and ribs are similar to those of humans. Could they be Cyborgs?" 0

Cyborgs were no secret; they were a cruel form of magic. First, materials had to be chosen—transforming ordinary people was pointless—so cultivators were abducted instead. Through alchemical potions combined with Rune Magic Circles, their bodily structures were altered. The resources required for Cyborgs—whether runes or Magic Stones—were quite rare and had a high failure rate. Even if successful, a Cyborg might not obey commands as they possessed independent thought. Thus, creating a Cyborg was an endeavor fraught with difficulty and little reward.
