The North Moon Group was feeling the same pressure as Ye Wen. Beiyue honestly explained to everyone that she had agreed to switch opponents, and no one questioned her decision. Instead, they pulled out a map and placed a photo of the five members of the Ding Family on it. They stood around the table, contemplating the layout.
Li Qing, an expert in individual research, spoke up. "Ding Lan and Ding Tai will enter a weakened state after launching a fierce attack. They are very fast, so actively hunting them down seems unrealistic. We can only wait for them to strike first and then counterattack. However, if we don't apply enough pressure on the Ding Family, they won't take the risk of attacking us while in a weakened state."
Cui Ming nodded in agreement. "So, even though these two are strong, the Ding Family won't unleash them right away to bite us."
Li Qing slightly nodded and continued, "Ding Nuo, Ding Wen, and Vlad are all tough opponents. If I'm not mistaken, these three will guard the three lanes while Ding Tai and Ding Lan will rely on their speed to strike when the opportunity arises. Those of us in the jungle are in great danger, and the personnel in the lanes won't dare to push too hard for fear of being cut off."
Cui Ming pondered for a moment. "If they see us as opponents, they will naturally employ this strategy—steady and cautious, right?"
"Exactly."
"What if they underestimate us?"
Li Qing replied, "The answer is simple: focus fire on Ding Ze. Among the five of them, he poses the most direct threat and is the one they know best."
Cui Ming remarked, "Then Ding Ze might as well be dead."
"Hey, I think I have some value to save," Ding Ze protested unhappily.
Cui Ming chuckled. "We'll save you; otherwise, who will deal with Ding Tai and Ding Lan? Don't worry, Ding Ze. If they dare to do that—if four or five people focus fire on you—I’ll make sure they won’t recognize you when I get my revenge."
"Do we have any advantages?" Beiyue asked.
"Of course we do. They have the biggest disadvantage. The speed difference among the five of them is significant. Ding Tai and Ding Lan are on the same level, while Vlad, Ding Nuo, and Ding Wen are all at another level. We don't need to worry about tactics; I have a ninety percent confidence in this," Cui Ming replied. "If they play it safe with three lanes, Ding Nuo against Beiyue, we won't gain much advantage. Beiyue's reach isn't long enough and will often get cut and bleed out, ultimately falling to true damage. As for Vlad, one-on-one, none of us can take him down. He has his blood pool, and once Mi Xiaonan's Thunderstorm comes out and he enters the blood pool domain, we'll be at a loss. On Ding Wen's side, Mi Xiaonan can play with her; she has long reach and fast speed, but Mi Xiaonan's power lies in marking and then detonating the mark up close. Ding Wen has a set of rolling knives that leave you with no chance to fight back.
Looking at the jungle area, my senior brother and I can handle any opponent there, but Ding Tai and Ding Lan are very fast, especially Ding Lan, who can burst out of the fog in an instant with high damage. My senior brother and I can at most hold our own in our jungle area. Given this situation, we might not lose; if we employ some schemes and tricks, there’s still a possibility to expand from local advantages to strategic ones—provided that Ding Nuo is in command. Vlad is quite formidable; his commanding ability is strong. How things will develop is uncertain."
Cui Ming continued, "If the Ding Family adopts an aggressive strategy, I guarantee our win rate will be ninety percent. If they play it safe, our win rate drops to only forty percent. You tell me—should we give up a forty percent win rate for a solid ninety percent?"
Ding Ze interjected, "Cui Ming, stop rambling so much. If we lose, we lose; do you really want to shift the blame? If you don’t take the fall, should Beiyue?"
"That's a valid point," Cui Ming said as he slapped his forehead. He then asked, "Ding Ze, how long has it been since you've been close to a woman?"
Ding Ze paused for a moment, looking somewhat bewildered as he replied, "A very long time."
"I need you to regain your playboy image; can you manage that?"
"Of course," Ding Ze said with a shrug, putting on an act.
Cui Ming turned to Beiyue: "Beiyue, since becoming a formal hunter, haven't you been neglecting to check out hunter information?"
"Yeah."
"Go look into it or find something else to do."
Cui Ming added, "Senior brother and I will head to Hero Town for some food; Hero City’s meals are too monotonous. Mi Xiaonan, you go act like a creep and attend to Mi Xiaobo."
Li Qing understood clearly, "You really have to bet on ninety percent and give up forty percent."
"It must be this way. What will the Ding Family do? It's a fifty-fifty chance. We need to increase that probability now. Alright, let's go sightseeing," Cui Ming said. "Also, Beiyue, don't watch the match tomorrow. Find an excuse, say that an elder from Divine Island has further insights into witches, and you need to go investigate. You know, you have to let the Ding Family know about this. Ding Ze, stay away from the match in the warm embrace of home. My senior brother and I won't be back either. Mi Xiaonan, you accompany Mi Xiaobo to watch tomorrow's match, but focus on Mi Xiaobo and show a lack of interest in the competition."
Ding Ze asked, "Isn't that going too far?"
"Yes, it is. Therefore, we need to accept an exclusive interview with Force Report. Beiyue, you should say that you hesitated for a long time when exchanging battle teams; Liu Na will definitely ask about this. At that time, just say our team believes the Ye Family is easier to deal with than the Ding Family, but because of your insistence, there was some internal conflict. Also, even if Vlad thinks we are going too far, he won't believe we are targeting ninety percent. We calculated a situation with a ninety percent win rate; they can't deduce what that means. Although Vlad has spent some time with us, we didn't perform well against Lank, especially Mi Xiaonan; it was quite embarrassing."
Mi Xiaonan smiled wryly, "That last sentence can be omitted."
...
The Ding Family, especially Vlad's intellect, was indeed somewhat baffling. The Ye Family's fierce battle against the Fire Cult could be described as a once-in-a-century event—an incredibly valuable match. Surprisingly, only Mi Xiaonan from the North Moon Group went to watch it live. Beiyue found clues about her father and went to a small town four hundred miles away. Li Qing and Cui Ming went to Hero Town for hotpot while Ding Ze checked into a hotel with a girl at four in the morning and hadn't left yet.
Reliable sources indicated that Ding Ze expressed dissatisfaction with Beiyue and Cui Ming while chatting with a reporter at a bar. As for Beiyue, she was solely focused on finding her father; she had been busy before the match started and barely made it back in time. Now she was taking more time to search for clues—something Ding Ze couldn't understand. Then there was Cui Ming, who was incredibly arrogant and had to meddle in everything; even his closest friend Li Qing tried to dissuade him directly, which led Beiyue to voice her grievances about Cui Ming. To avoid internal conflict during the meeting, Li Qing took Cui Ming away to Hero Town.
Ding Ze told the reporter, "Only I can save the North Moon Group. Ding Wen is impressive, right? He talks like a god; during Heroic Battle, I took him down in one move—ha ha... The Ding Family Lineage may not be great, but their collateral branches are even worse."
Is there any possibility? Vlad believed there was. When he traveled with Beiyue, Li Qing, Mi Xiaonan, and Cui Ming to Hero City, all decisions—including route choices—were made solely by Cui Ming without consulting anyone else. Although no one expressed dissatisfaction at the time, some feelings lingered beneath the surface. Fine then; if you have opinions, go ahead and act.
Vlad convened a meeting regarding the North Moon Group's battle strategy and studied everyone closely. Ultimately he found that Ding Ze posed the greatest threat—agile and powerful in output. The main issue was his excessive chatter; after Ding Wen's death under ambiguous rules where little could be said at that moment, now speaking out seemed somewhat arrogant. If they didn't teach him a lesson now, it would be disrespectful to the Ding Family.
Ding Tai pointed decisively: "First eliminate him."
Before Vlad could speak, Ding Nuo diverted the conversation from what Vlad intended to say. "Ding Ze is indeed strong. His teleportation for escape, energy lightning, and crescent slash are all long-range attacks. If Magic System goes up against him, they won't be able to withstand his combo; after one set, he teleports away and comes back for another. Warriors can't catch up to him. To kill Ding Ze, the main forces will definitely be you and Ding Lan."
Vlad interjected, "What if it's a trap? Cui Ming has some skills."
Ding Nuo replied, "A trap? We can turn it against them. We'll use formations two and three, with Ding Lan and Ding Tai flanking Ding Ze from both sides while the three of us surround Ding Lan and Ding Tai for support. If he wants to initiate a team fight, fine, let him come. We'll give them some advantage at first and aim to take down Ding Ze. It's hard to revive someone early on; Ding Ze will need a few minutes in the cold palace. Once Ding Ze is dead, our next target will be Beiyue."
In his plan, Ding Nuo considered their strength and decided that to prevent any tricks, they should act together. The two main attackers would reveal themselves while the other three provided support to eliminate Ding Ze. If Ding Lan and Ding Tai entered a weakened state, they could wait for everyone else to regroup and meditate to recover. At that point, Ding Ze wouldn't be able to return. They would then directly target Beiyue because Beiyue was the least likely to enter the jungle area. Since five of them would be attacking Ding Ze, the opponents would surely take the opportunity to push forward, allowing them to encircle Beiyue. With both of those two dead, the financial cost would be significant for the enemy, and they could apply pressure on all three lanes, forcing them to earn only minimal resources. After this exchange, they would essentially become invincible.
Vlad contemplated this plan; it was indeed clever and not afraid of any underhanded tactics from Cui Ming. The most likely scenario was that Ding Ze was bait meant to lure out Ding Tai and Ding Lan into an ambush while three others quickly approached from outside, effectively forcing a team fight where North Moon Group would suffer greatly.
Cui Ming had the same thought; in a five-on-five battle, North Moon Group would be at a disadvantage. They had Vlad, who could maneuver freely and withstand damage, along with Ding Nuo who was formidable in chaotic battles. A careless injury could trigger his mark's explosion, leading to certain death. Moreover, with Ding Nuo's supportive enhancement skills being quite robust and Ding Wen's deadly blade techniques leaving no room for counterattack once engaged.
Finally, Ding Nuo stated, "If we can end this battle quickly, Final Four will have the right to draw lots. Although it's a lottery system, I prefer to control my own fate rather than leave it up to others."
Ding Tai said solemnly, "It's settled then."
"Alright," Vlad replied. Communication with Ding Tai was difficult since he only obeyed Ding Nuo. After considering everything again, Vlad felt there were no issues; their tactics were well-placed and could counter any schemes. So it was decided: they would engage North Moon Group with this strategy. He hoped that Cui Ming wouldn't discover this weakness in the Ding Family. As for Ding Tai... why did someone who harbored resentment towards the Ding Family have such strength? Why wouldn’t Ding Nuo accept his suggestion to replace him with a less capable but more obedient team member?
Vlad understood the reason: it was because of Ding Tai's loyalty to Ding Nuo—a personal loyalty that Vlad did not wish to see. Ding Nuo rallied the collateral branches for personal motives that Vlad did not appreciate. But whether he liked it or not, there was no choice.
