Cui Ming was right; Jayce had indeed encountered a problem, which was why he sought out Cui Ming and the others. Why not ask the Ye Family for help?
The three of them were transported by car to a villa near the palace of Twilight City, which was Jayce's home. Jayce was responsible for the palace's security, and being wealthy, he lived in quite luxurious accommodations. Unlike other royals, he had no idea what it meant to be low-key.
The limousine drove straight into the villa, where Jayce stood at the door, respectfully welcoming them. Cui Ming remarked, "I have a feeling I want to run away." The more polite he was, the more it indicated trouble.
"After all, he is a prince," Li Qing said as he got out of the car, sensing the atmosphere before cupping his fists toward Jayce. "Long time no see."
"You've worked hard on the way here. Go wash up first; I've prepared some food," Jayce said as he stepped forward to warmly shake hands with Mi Xiaonan and Cui Ming.
Cui Ming weakly replied, "Jayce, let's be clear: if you can't help us, then don't."
"Haha, everyone has come to Twilight City; let me play host. What do you mean by help or not? As they say, isn't it a joy to have friends come from afar?" Jayce led them into the living room and called out, "You all take care of my friends and help them bathe."
In the living room, six young women in elegant attire standing on either side responded in unison, "Yes."
Cui Ming was taken aback and asked, "Isn't this a bit much?"
Li Qing nodded in agreement. "Yeah, this is a bit difficult."
Cui Ming shot Li Qing a disapproving look and pushed him away. "With your habits of drinking and gambling, you should at least cut back on the gambling. Brother, you're a disciple of the Buddhist Sect; eating some meat and taking a life is something Buddha can overlook. How could you…"
Li Qing sighed. "Junior brother, you just don't understand humor."
"Don't get me wrong," Jayce explained. "They are the most professional massage therapists and foot reflexologists. Of course, if you need their services, I believe they won't refuse."
Cui Ming interjected, "The laws in Twilight City state..."
Jayce replied, "If you don't pay, it doesn't count."
The ghost believed Jayce's words; real massage therapists were generally not this young. The term 'massage therapist' referred to a professional title. Rubbing one's body against a client to earn money was not considered massage; it was more appropriate to call them working women. Cui Ming still held some traditional views; having someone wash his feet felt awkward. He said, "Jayce, don't complicate things unnecessarily."
Mi Xiaonan looked around and asked, "Is it that my understanding isn't deep enough? Jayce said if we need a massage, they won't refuse? What does that have to do with the law?"
Jayce smiled without answering as six beautiful women approached, leading the three of them to a small building on the side. It was a sauna with five rooms. The six women did not follow them inside; instead, they waited for the three to steam and shower before inviting them into a private room for massages.
Mi Xiaonan foolishly entered the private room with two of the women while Li Qing and Cui Ming wrapped themselves in towels and sat down in the living room. The beautiful women immediately served peeled grapes, placing them into their mouths. Cui Ming said, "You all go ahead and do your thing. Call Jayce over; we’re fine."
The four women exchanged glances before leaving the sauna's living room. Li Qing remarked, "Junior brother, you truly are an upright gentleman."
"That's nonsense. Senior brother, have some self-respect. With our income and assets, we can pay for services of the same level. Why should we ask Jayce to treat us? Doing something shady and letting others know about it is just foolish," Cui Ming scolded him.
Li Qing paused for a moment. "That makes a lot of sense."
Cui Ming then said, "The main person has arrived. Jayce, no beating around the bush—what's going on?"
Jayce sat down with a smile. "Actually, it's nothing much. I want to find a few bodyguards for my sister and catch some bad guys while I'm at it."
Cui Ming asked, "Can't you find the Ye Family?"
Jayce sighed, "The key point is my sister warned me not to meddle. Otherwise, she won't recognize me as her brother. And this bad guy just happens to be one of the league's wanted criminals. Trust me, my sister can handle it. When we were younger, I complained to our parents, and she thought I was ruining our agreement, so she ignored me for a month. No amount of coaxing worked."
Cui Ming scoffed, "Jayce, get to the point." With the current level of this bad guy, dealing with your sister would be a matter of minutes.
After thinking for a moment, Jayce replied, "Alright, the key point is that this wanted criminal is currently my sister's bodyguard."
"Huh?" Li Qing and Cui Ming both froze.
"It's a long story," Jayce said. "To make it short, my sister is in a relationship with a wanted criminal, and at the same time, someone is trying to assassinate her. I can't ask the Ye Family to team up with a wanted criminal to help my sister, so I can only ask for your assistance."
"Who is the wanted criminal?" Li Qing, as a prospective Alliance Hunter, was more concerned about this question.
"His name is Vlad. He's twenty-eight years old. After talking to him, I found he is very cultured and refined."
"Why is he wanted?" Li Qing had never heard of this person.
Jayce thought for a while before answering, "He’s a practitioner of Blood Magic and a vampire. He claims he can control himself; when his thirst arises, he only steals from hospital blood banks and has never harmed a living person."
"But vampire genes are hereditary," Li Qing pointed out. "Jayce, do you really want your nephew or niece to be a vampire?"
Jayce pondered for a moment and said, "In life, sometimes... heh... I can be quite petty."
Cui Ming and Li Qing understood; he was currently borrowing someone else's strength to protect his sister and would deal with the wanted criminal openly once everything was over.
Cui Ming didn't want to delve deeper into this issue and asked, "Who is the assassin?"
"Jack," Jayce replied.
Damn it, this was the main objective. Indeed, the Ye Family had strength, but they couldn't guard Jayce's Sister twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year. Although Joker Jack was insane, he wasn't foolish enough to think he could break through the Ye Family's defenses to assassinate Jayce's Sister. Therefore, Jayce not only needed the help of vampires but also required assistance from individuals with a questionable moral compass. Moreover, Cui Ming and his group had crossed paths with Jack twice.
Another reason was that Jayce wanted to resolve this matter quickly; he still had a vampire to deal with. Now it was perfect—Joker Jack was elusive, and there was a vampire willing to take the hit for him, but that wasn't a long-term solution. As Jayce, he didn't want the Ye Family to eliminate the vampire first; that wouldn't work in the long run.
The best approach would be for another group to capture Joker Jack while the vampire protected his sister, allowing Jayce to have the Ye Family deal with the vampire afterward. After thinking it over, no one seemed more suitable than Cui Ming and his crew—smart, morally flexible, willing to help, and with a history of conflict with Joker Jack.
Cui Ming casually asked, "What's in it for us?"
Jayce remained silent for a long time before responding, "What can I offer you?"
Cui Ming chuckled; being bodyguards wasn't the key point. The key point lay in settling old scores with Joker Jack. Although that grudge dated back quite a while, Cui Ming wasn't someone who would easily forgive and forget. This kind of animosity was different; it wasn't just playful banter like his issues with Eva—there were clear reasons behind those conflicts.
If someone cheated, whether it was a brother-in-law or a friend’s wife or sister-in-law getting slapped, that could be understood. But if someone was walking down the street and suddenly got slapped by a stranger out of nowhere—that was just absurd.
Li Qing said, "We can do it, but Jayce, we should try our best to avoid killing practitioners."
Cui Ming asked, "What evidence do you have that Joker Jack intends to assassinate your sister? What’s his motive?"
Jayce countered, "Has Joker Jack ever needed a reason when killing? Does he ever have justification? He’s just a madman. However, this madman seems uncertain if he’s challenging himself or undergoing some change; he has started writing warning letters." Jayce placed a piece of paper on the table.
Game duration: thirty days. Party A: me. Party B: Alice. Game content: within thirty days, if Party B dies an unnatural death, Party A wins. If Party B survives within thirty days, Party A loses. Just that simple; below it was a colorful clown stamp.
Cui Ming picked up the warning letter and examined it closely. "From the handwriting, Joker Jack appears to be someone who follows rules; why would he randomly attack people? All along, Joker Jack has been recognized as the most terrifying assassin in the Three Continents, yet investigations show no one has ever hired him. Looking at his targets—twice targeting practitioners—one successful hit and once on Mi Xiaonan; this time counts as half since it's Jayce's sister. According to police records, after each murder, Joker Jack leaves this mark behind; he's implicated in over thirty homicides across the Three Continents. If Jack were truly insane, I’d think he’d just bite anyone at random. But every target has been studied and observed meticulously."
Li Qing said, "He treats killing as an art."
Cui Ming disagreed, "I think Joker Jack has a purpose in his killings; we just don't understand it yet. Look at the note; it's written in Royal Script. In feudal times, both men and women of the royal family and nobility had to learn calligraphy. This style is very standardized, almost like it was printed, and everyone refers to it as Royal Script."
Jayce glanced at the note. "Joker Jack is merely imitating Royal Script; he hasn't learned it at all."
"The problem lies here," Cui Ming continued. "His writing is laborious. What should take one or two minutes took him a long time. If you look closely at the strokes on this note, it shows that Joker Jack is dissatisfied with what he wrote before."
Li Qing asked, "Junior brother, what are you trying to say?"
Cui Ming shook his head. "I don't know. I believe Joker Jack's attacks are purposeful, not just the actions of a madman. If that were the case, he would have some logic behind his actions. He knows his target is Jayce's sister, and Jayce might seek help from the Ye Family, so his assassination methods would be more discreet."
Li Qing said, "Then let's eat something and get to work."
Cui Ming looked around the room and asked, "Where's Mi Xiaonan?"
As he spoke, the two beautiful women left the room. On the massage table, Mi Xiaonan was covered with a white blanket and sound asleep. Cui Ming watched the two women; one stepped forward and said, "It's just a massage; he has great self-control." With that, she left.
Cui Ming chuckled, "If a giantess were to give me a massage, I would also have great self-control." (To be continued.)
