"Ding Ze" explained more clearly, "This means that someone can create a Wildman Team. Although their Force is not strong enough to withstand the damage caused by bullets and explosions, their mastery of techniques makes them extremely dangerous. This implies that if they infiltrate a hostile city, they could easily carry out a massacre against civilians. What remains uncertain is whether these five individuals are products of mass production or trophies from it. If one hundred people can only produce five, that's manageable; but if one hundred can produce one hundred wild men, that would be terrifying, especially with the Fire Cult's beliefs making them unstoppable."
"Beiyue" said, "I have already met with the cavalry leader and notified Evelyn via radio that there is an urgent matter requiring her presence as soon as possible."
The first type of wild man involves practitioners implanting Force into ordinary people, allowing them to experience it. Through training in the Six Elements over a period of one to ten years, they inevitably end up going insane. These individuals possess the greatest destructive power. The second type consists of quasi-practitioners who have not strictly followed the Six Elements training and skipped steps, resulting in irreversible damage from Force to their bodies, ultimately leading to madness. Now we have the third type: ordinary people who become masters of Force through a peculiar training method. The consequences of this are unknown since the third type has never appeared before.
Cui Ming looked around at the corpses, thinking that leaving one alive would allow him to extract information. After pondering for a moment, he began to search the bodies of the five individuals. They had been killed in different locations and then moved together; although it was somewhat gruesome, it was not overly bloody. Cui Ming found some items and then asked, "Where are their backpacks?"
"They're at their camp; I'll go get them," Beiyue replied before leaving and returning after about ten minutes.
Cui Ming emptied the contents of the backpack for inspection and pulled out a bottle of vitamin pills. He opened it and took one out to lick it lightly. "This is a sedative."
"I'm not a pervert, but she fits the profile perfectly," Cui Ming explained as he began to remove the clothing from the Suicidal Female Member, who was the only one with a complete body. "Look at the scars on her body; many are self-inflicted injuries. She was enduring pain. I don't believe wild men can be mass-produced... scratching themselves with their nails. Also, her arms have numerous injection marks; her veins are nearly destroyed, indicating she was injecting drugs—likely psychotropic substances. There's also portable liquid oxygen here containing components for mental drugs. They need medication to control their bodies, yet the Fire Cult prohibits its followers from using such substances... Analyzing their positions further, they did not actively attack the cavalry; they clearly understood that they lacked the strength to eliminate them. I believe their goal was to inflict harm and force the cavalry to halt their advance."
Beiyue and others found Cui Ming's reasoning quite convincing. Beiyue said, "However, this matter must be handed over to the Force Alliance for handling."
Cui Ming disagreed, stating, "If we do that, we might fall into a trap. Dawnmoon City is not part of the alliance; entry by Force Alliance practitioners into Dawnmoon City is illegal. However, with the emergence of mass-produced wild men, the Force Alliance must investigate in Dawnmoon City, which could likely lead to conflict between practitioners and Dawnmoon City's authorities."
Li Qing asked incredulously, "Junior Brother, how do you know so much? Can you be sure this is a conspiracy?"
"I am well-versed in military strategy and familiar with various schemes," Cui Ming replied confidently. "This tactic is known as burning one's boats. The Fire Cult is forcing Dawnmoon City's authorities and the alliance into opposition; firstly, this could delay discussions on whether to label the Fire Cult as a cult. Secondly, it incites dissatisfaction among Dawnmoon's residents towards the alliance. These individuals are dead soldiers; their purpose is to create conflict between the Force Alliance and Dawnmoon City's authorities." Cui Ming suggested, "I recommend we inform Evelyn that these five are troublemakers sent by the Fire Cult without mentioning they are practitioners."
Ding Ze said, "That makes a lot of sense. The Fire Cult has a certain influence in Dawnmoon City. If they wanted to obstruct the horse convoy, they could simply send gunmen to ambush it, right? Why send these five instead? They even prepared poison for suicide. Putting all this together, can we not conclude that the earthquake in Dawnmoon City and the food crisis are part of the Fire Cult's plan? These five are also part of their scheme, aimed at provoking a war between the Alliance and Dawnmoon City."
Beiyue asked, "Ding Ze, are you well-versed in military strategy?"
Ding Ze chuckled self-deprecatingly. "Sometimes, family power struggles are far more insidious than this. My analysis is correct, isn't it? Only by inciting war can the Fire Cult continue to survive and possibly become the main religion in Dawnmoon City. It’s already difficult to provoke a war in the Eastern Continent, and Dawnmoon City has been slowly reforming. Unless it leads to a conflict between the Force Alliance and Xiaoyue City Official, forcing the Force Alliance to intervene in Dawnmoon City's internal affairs. So I agree with Cui Ming's view; although it doesn't concern us, we cannot be accomplices or pawns for others."
Beiyue pondered for a moment. "This matter has nothing to do with us; how to proceed is Evelyn's responsibility. Everything is just our speculation without solid evidence."
Li Qing said, "The Force Alliance has its own set of rules, and Dawnmoon City has its own regulations as well. That is their bottom line; they cannot make concessions. Therefore, following the rules will inevitably lead to war. Once war breaks out, the Fire Cult Nation in the Eastern Continent will provide support by sending soldiers and volunteers. The Fire Cult will form guerrilla units to counter the Alliance forces. The Fire Cult Nation will offer financial assistance to these guerrilla units, increasing their religious influence and worsening the situation. We have no evidence; we don’t need evidence. Regardless of anything else, let’s not discuss it."
Beiyue contemplated for a long time before looking at Cui Ming, who immediately said, "Boss, I’m just making a suggestion; whatever you say goes." War meant little to Cui Ming as long as he wasn’t the one instigating it; he never considered himself a hero. He was simply displeased at being used as a pawn by others.
Beiyue thought for a moment longer. "Regardless of anything else, there must be practitioners within the Fire Cult; otherwise, they wouldn’t be able to produce five wild men."
"Right," came the affirmative response.
"Well then, we won't report this," Beiyue said somewhat reluctantly. "But how can five people stop the horse convoy without weapons?"
"They have poison," Cui Ming replied as he took out a bottle and spread out the route map given by Shan Bo. "Mote also saw them poisoning at the water source. The horse convoy is so large that with a Guide present, they can't carry enough water and must fetch it nearby. These three points are where the convoy collects water. Heh heh, it's like drawing a snake with legs; they must have thought of poisoning as a backup plan to stop the convoy but didn’t realize it would become evidence against them… not evidence—it's fact; I misspoke—purely a slip of the tongue."
Beiyue nodded. "Alright then, let's proceed as everyone suggests."
Cui Ming added, "We still have one last problem."
"What?"
"We have run out of food. Should we go to the horse team to get some?" Cui Ming said, "Boss, it's your responsibility to contact the horse team. This time, we need you to help us get some food."
