At that moment, I could no longer see Shunzi and had no idea where he was. As I dove deeper, other sharks began to swim towards me. It seemed like I was in serious trouble; this group of sharks was intent on tearing me apart. Panic set in—no one remains calm when faced with the threat of death.
The Spear was useless now, so I swam with all my might towards the Wreck. Deep down, I knew that no matter how fast I swam, I could never outpace the sharks. One shark charged at me from the left, seemingly testing me as it didn’t open its mouth wide. Instinctively, I reached out with the hand holding the Spear and touched it lightly with the shaft. The shark quickly veered away from me.
But at that moment, other sharks surrounded me, circling back and forth around me. I had nowhere to escape. Just when I was at a loss, I noticed a large mass of black objects rapidly approaching from a distance. At first, I thought it might be a Sperm Whale or some other massive creature.
As it got closer, I realized that this large mass was made up of thousands of palm-sized creatures, resembling those little monsters that had escaped from the Wreck that day.
In an instant, this swarm surrounded a Great White Shark, and soon the seabed erupted in a cloud of red blood. The Great White Shark had nowhere to flee; these little monsters were even faster than piranhas. Within about a minute of the shark's desperate thrashing, only its bones remained.
I was dumbfounded by what I witnessed, even forgetting to escape. The dark mass of little monsters sent the surrounding sharks into disarray. Just as I stood there in shock, the shark that had previously collided with me circled back around. This time it was moving faster, clearly preparing to attack.
I didn’t react immediately; instead, I stared blankly as it charged toward me. As it drew nearer, I finally sensed the danger—it had opened its massive jaws wide, revealing rows of sharp and terrifying teeth that served as a wake-up call.
I felt a jolt of fear coursing through me, but it was too late to evade. Just as the situation became dire, the shark suddenly veered off course as if it had been struck. Looking closely, I saw that a Spear had pierced its eye. Before the shark could even react in pain, the swarm of black creatures attacked it again.
If I hadn’t seen this with my own eyes, I would hardly have believed it. These little monsters were incredibly frightening; how could such creatures exist in the ocean? After years at sea, I had never heard of anything like them. At that moment, someone grabbed my arm and pulled me deeper underwater. Turning to look, I saw it was Shunzi; he must have been the one who struck the shark earlier.
Thank goodness he returned; otherwise, I would have been done for. It seemed Shunzi truly was my lucky star! We both dove quickly to the vicinity of the Wreck. The mass of dark creatures had already covered the central area of water, leaving us no choice but to dive closer to the Wreck.
Following the flickering lights from the Wreck, we soon descended and found Mai Lao, Jiao Ba, and Gangzi hiding behind the bottom of the Wreck. Upon seeing us, they appeared somewhat excited. Although they couldn’t speak, Jiao Ba gestured enthusiastically.
I gestured to them, asking, "How's it going? Is everyone alright?"
Mai Lao made a sign, indicating, "We're running out of oxygen; we need to leave here quickly."
Jiao Ba pointed at the dark mass of small monsters above us, gesturing frantically. Although his signs were quite chaotic, I understood he was asking how to deal with those things up there. Damn it, if I knew how to solve this, I wouldn't have come down to the wreck for refuge.
Everyone was getting anxious. Mai Lao gestured again, "We need to come up with a plan! That group of things up there might be coming down."
The sharks from earlier had mostly been dealt with—some were dead, and others had fled. The blood from the sharks had already seeped into the deep sea, turning the surrounding waters into a gruesome sight. Most importantly, Mai Lao was right; after attacking the sharks, those small monsters had turned and charged straight down toward us.
Seeing this scene, Jiao Bayi was panicking, making distressed sounds and waving his arms. "We need to think of something fast; we’re going to die!"
Shunzi and Mai Lao were also restless, planning to make a quick escape. But in the underwater environment, we couldn't swim past those creatures. My mind raced as I suddenly thought of a plan. Although it was dangerous, the situation was already perilous; we had no choice but to take a gamble. It was a fight for survival—if we were going to live, we would do it together; if we were going to die, then so be it. I turned to Mai Lao and gestured, "I have an idea!"
"What idea?" Mai Lao asked urgently, his hands trembling slightly.
I pointed above the wreck and drew with my hand; it was really just three words: "Human-Faced Flower."
Mai Lao quickly understood my meaning and nodded calmly. I continued gesturing, "I'll lure those monsters away; you all take the chance to escape."
Shunzi grabbed my arm and shook his head vigorously. He knew that going back would likely lead to disaster. He wanted to go with me, but I refused; having two people would only increase the risk of mistakes. I looked into his eyes and nodded firmly. Jiao Ba patted his chest as if to say he would take care.
This time felt like heading into battle without looking back. As I swam toward the wreck above me, that dark swarm of small monsters surged toward me like a horde of wasps. I quickly turned and swam toward the bow of the ship. This time, I truly exerted every ounce of strength I had! It was more terrifying than being chased by dogs; I could even hear the monstrous cries behind me.
When I rushed to the bow of the ship, a few small monsters had already surrounded me. They were biting at my calves, and the pain was excruciating. I could even feel them tearing at my muscles, but I didn't have time to worry about them; I needed to act quickly.
A few seconds later, I saw the Human-Faced Flower quietly sleeping at the bow. The last time I saw it, I was terrified as if I had seen a ghost, but now, seeing it felt like encountering a savior. I was on the verge of tears. I activated all my potential and dashed toward the Human-Faced Flower, reaching out to touch it. With both flowers close together, my hand struck down, making contact with both.
At that moment, the swarm of dark little monsters chased after me. In this critical moment, the Human-Faced Flower suddenly awakened. The two flowers opened rapidly, illuminating the surrounding waters with their green light. This time, I didn't see the faces within the flowers, but I heard a strange cry emitted simultaneously from both flowers. The painful and terrifying sound was unbearable.
The power of the two Human-Faced Flowers was immense; their wailing echoed through the depths of the sea, causing chaos among the monsters. For a moment, those dark little creatures stopped chasing me and began to flail about like headless flies. I had to take this opportunity to escape. Just then, with a loud bang, the Human-Faced Flower sprayed a massive amount of green liquid that instantly covered a large area of water around it.
The small monsters in front of the Human-Faced Flower were almost entirely doomed, all eroded by this green liquid. My only relief was that I was behind the Human-Faced Flower; that wave of green liquid hadn't reached me yet. If I had been even a few seconds later, I would have been engulfed as well. I quickly turned around, removed my Oxygen Tank, and propelled myself with all my strength toward the surface.
The green liquid instantly covered my previous position. I knew very well that as long as I could escape from the deep sea, there would be no danger. The pressure down here was immense; without oxygen, my body was clearly struggling. Relying on my strong willpower, I fought against it fiercely. My hands and feet moved continuously in an attempt to swim upward, but I still felt my blood beginning to congeal.
This was the consequence of oxygen deprivation. If I didn't break through to the surface soon, I would surely die in this sea. Ultimately, I burst through the Sea Surface; however, this time when I emerged, everything went black before my eyes. All I could vaguely hear were some shouts before everything faded away—I lost consciousness...
