At the beginning, the waiter complained to the Department Manager about the three people who had just left, saying they really had no taste and only knew how to look around, spending half a day without buying a single piece of clothing. While they were chattering away, the information holographic television in the Shopping Center displayed a tense battle scene. In this era, there was no need to watch 3D movies; for excitement, one could simply connect a brainwave converter to experience it firsthand. Those holographic televisions were essential machines for large shopping malls. Although it was just a simple segment, the customers who heard the buzz and saw the scene went wild! The waiter was also wide-eyed. When the manager asked him what was going on, he stammered that those three people were his guests.
The female manager was quite quick-witted and immediately reported to her superiors. The orders from above came down swiftly, requiring that the three be allowed to shop for free and that a "Welcome Heroes Back" banner be displayed in front of the mall. After all, those three had faced so many heavily armed thugs and emerged victorious; naturally, the crowd regarded them as heroes. In truth, it wasn't a big deal; people just loved excitement, and the mall went along with it. The Senior Management knew that these three wouldn't stay long, given their many crazy fans.
"This way! It brings popularity to the mall without costing too much; it's much more cost-effective than hefty advertising fees!" This statement got everyone busy.
So when Yu Tian, Jason, and Reynold walked in, they were not only greeted with excellent etiquette but also welcomed by a huge banner.
As soon as the banner appeared, crowds surged into the mall, eager to catch a glimpse of the heroes.
"Hey! Brother Tian, when did we become heroes? This is such a small matter compared to what we've done before!" Jason grumbled, but his hands were busy returning gestures to the waitresses and young girls blowing kisses at him. He had no interest in any older women.
"Three gentlemen, our Boss said you can choose anything in the mall for free!" The waiter wore a bright smile like a blooming flower but occasionally showed hints of apology.
"Alright! We will—it's better to obey than to refuse—ha ha!" Jason pulled Yu Tian and Reynold toward the high-end merchandise area. The clothing and accessories here were made from rare metals and were even more expensive than gold.
At first, the waiter was stunned but then remembered it was an order from above that he couldn't defy. He could only lead them through the throngs of people toward their destination.
Of course, under Jason's enthusiastic persuasion, they ended up buying decades' worth of clothing. This truly left the executives dumbfounded; however, once something was announced, it couldn't be taken back, so they had to swallow their complaints. Fortunately, when they settled accounts that day, they found that sales had increased several times over. Those fans had paid for Yu Tian and his companions’ purchases, which nearly caused heart attacks among the Bosses from joy. Later on, it seemed they even issued VIP Cards to the three of them.
"Tian, why are you dazed? Hurry up and pick something to wear! Today is very busy!" Lin called Yu Tian back to reality as she noticed him lost in thought.
"Okay! I got it! I was just trying to figure out which one is suitable!" Yu Tian lied, but it was a kind-hearted lie. He didn't want Lin to worry about him, so he always acted optimistic. However, if you are in a relationship or getting married, never lie casually; it's a ticking time bomb for the relationship, so be careful.
"Here, try this outfit on!" Lin handed him a set of clothes that Yu Tian didn't remember seeing before: a jacket with a white base adorned with blue patterns featuring a wolf totem—Snow Wolf; along with purple pants and a blue shirt. Yu Tian wasn't particularly fond of the purple color, as it reminded him of the demon race from Kadar Black Hole.
He quickly realized that this must have been bought for him by Lin. He smiled and put it on effortlessly. Looking in the mirror, he thought he looked quite spirited.
"How does it look?" Yu Tian turned around. This was the first time in hundreds of years that he wore something so casual yet seemingly formal. He suddenly felt that after everything he had been through, his body seemed stronger! His shoulders felt broader, and the burden he carried had increased as well!
At that moment, Lin had already changed into a dress; the pure white gown seemed to have been made just for her. The whiteness of the dress accentuated Lin's fair skin; wedding dresses were no longer in fashion! Although there was no trend for naked weddings, their ceremony would be very simple!
Lin turned around and playfully asked, "What about my dress? Does it look good?"
"It looks great! But you haven't commented on mine yet! What do you think of your taste?" Yu Tian replied while adjusting his collar. He always wondered why clothing styles hadn't changed much. After all, two hundred years had passed! This revealed an interesting point: clothing exists because of humanity; its form must be made according to human shapes. Therefore, as long as human forms don't change significantly over thousands of years, clothing won't lose sleeves or collars.
"Of course it looks good! I personally ran around more than ten commercial fortresses to get this. You look much more handsome now!" Lin walked over to Yu Tian's side, standing together in front of the large mirror.
A man and a woman are naturally a perfect pair; however, it seemed that Yu Tian's handsomeness also carried a hint of mischief. Lin suddenly felt this way and thought it was just because of the outfit, so she didn't pay much attention. She was already able to reach Yu Tian's shoulders and gently placed her hand on them while leaning her head closer.
Brief moments of happiness can become unforgettable memories for a lifetime! We should cherish everything we have now, strive to find happiness, experience joy, and most importantly, remember happiness so we won't become lost sheep on the road of life.
Yu Tian also marveled, "That’s hard work—Madam Yu!" After saying this, he deliberately made a funny face.
"Alright... alright! Hurry up and get ready so we can leave early!" Lin suddenly pulled out some cake from somewhere and handed Yu Tian a few pieces. Many things do not disappear; ancient people ate rice and bread, and that hasn't changed for thousands of years. It's just that in this era where there isn't enough land to grow food, consuming grain products has become a sign of nobility or even luxury.
"Where did you get this? I love this kind of tomato cake!" Yu Tian exclaimed as he took the cake, heading straight for the slices with tomato. He remembered that the happiest day of his life was when he had been in the orphanage for a long time, and none of the other children wanted to play with him. Just when he felt the most lonely, Dr. S, the person who brought him here, brought him a tomato cake.
Sitting on the tower with Dr. S, eating cake while listening to the doctor's jokes was the happiest moment of his life!
Though it was brief!
Lin handed over a plate and said, "Then eat more!"
Just as Yu Tian reached out to grab it, Lin offered him a fork. "Don't use your hands; they're dirty!" Yu Tian shyly accepted the fork, stabbed a piece of cake, and put it in his mouth. It was sweet and had a wonderful texture.
That was the taste of happiness!
