After a few rounds of drinks, all three were drunk.
In his stupor, Yu Tian was jostled awake by a pair of hands, but he had no intention of responding; all he wanted was to sleep. This time, an additional set of hands joined in the shaking. His brain felt heavy, and he chose to continue his deep conversation with the land of dreams.
Though he remained asleep, he could still faintly hear voices.
“Doctor, you can’t blame me for this! My wife’s nephew insisted on taking this case to test his skills. You know my wife is a fierce woman; how could I dare…” One voice sounded weak and as if it had committed some grave error. Yu Tian guessed it must be the “Monk” Director; it seemed his prediction about the outcome of that matter was correct.
“Old Ai, how can I even begin to describe you? You’re an adult now, yet you’re afraid of your wife! Are you worried she’ll eat you alive? You need to consider the bigger picture! Can’t you see all those tasks piling up? Why are you so fixated on this one? Don’t you know how treacherous those guys from the Poison Dragon Organization are? How can these inexperienced kids handle them? Now look what’s happened—they’ve all been taken hostage and are threatening to exchange them for a long-range Mother Ship.” The voice belonged to Dr. S, who had a good relationship with Yu Tian and was like a father figure to him. Yu Tian surmised that the “Monk” Director had no choice but to ask the doctor to mediate; being a pacifist, it was hard for him to refuse!
“What should we do now?” The Director’s voice shifted from hopeful to anxious.
“Let’s wait until Yu Tian wakes up! It’s been almost a whole day since he drank so much; he should be waking up soon!” The doctor sounded calm, as he always did.
“How long will that take?” Despite hearing hurried footsteps, Yu Tian continued to pretend to be asleep. The footsteps moved back and forth, accompanied by quiet prayers: “Heaven! Please let Yu wake up soon! I promise I won’t argue with him again!”
At this point, Yu Tian couldn’t help but chuckle softly, lifting his heavy head and propping himself up with his hands.
“Director, I’d rather you exchange not being afraid of your wife for me not getting into trouble!” Yu Tian looked around and realized he was in the reception room of the third bureau, likely carried there after getting drunk. Seeing the mess around him made him feel somewhat embarrassed.
“You little rascal were just pretending to be asleep! You really worried me!” Although his tone was harsh, there was clearly no malice in the Director's voice. He knew that with Dr. S stepping in, everything would turn out fine.
"You said you wouldn't argue anymore, right?" Yu Tian straightened his back with the support of his waist, rubbing his hands which still felt a bit sore. "I feel a bit lightheaded; I should move around a bit!" He got out of bed and put on his combat boots.
"Are we ready to set off?" The director's voice was as gentle as if he were speaking to his wife, handing over a cup of water.
"I'm actually quite thirsty!" Yu Tian took the cup and drank it all in one go.
"This is quite a troublesome situation! Those fugitives have actually hidden themselves in the Darkstone Belt..." Yu Tian looked at the tracking display, watching several red dots on the screen enter a dark area and never come out again.
According to the Galactic Military Directive: any soldier on a mission would have a micro-nano positioning system implanted under their armpit before departure. This was to facilitate subsequent support or to locate bodies in case of casualties.
"That area has always been the stronghold of the Poison Dragon organization. Several attempts to encircle them have failed. We initially thought capturing their leader would serve as a deterrent. Now that they’ve rescued their boss, they’re sure to make a big move!" The director stood behind him, sharing what he knew. After arguing with his wife, his voice was somewhat hoarse, and he noticed that Yu Tian hadn't responded.
He continued, "Ever since my nephew was captured, the military has kept it under wraps. But you know how it is in this age of information overload; private media dug up the story and reported it, causing public panic and alarming the chairman of the government. He ordered that we take down the Poison Dragon stronghold and specifically named you as the team leader for Operation Dragon Slayer!"
"How many of them are there?" Without waiting for the director to continue, Yu Tian asked loudly, his eyes fixed on the screen displaying information about the Darkstone Belt.
"About two hundred people. They are all scum serving life sentences. Thanks to government improvements, ordinary citizens are unwilling to go there, except for those twisted individuals." Since managing to suppress his temper yesterday, the director seemed excited and spoke more freely.
"Got it!" Yu Tian nodded. "How many people can I bring?"
"The first batch will be an infiltration team of twenty, followed by a support unit of fifty. Since this is a Level One directive, all team members must be above Interstellar Warriors rank." The director answered Yu Tian's question quite thoroughly.
"Alright!" Yu Tian lifted his head and turned to face the director. "Are they ready? Gather the infiltration team; we leave in five minutes!"
The director was taken aback by the flickering flames in Yu Tian's eyes, a passion ignited by the desire for battle. "We can set off at any time!"
Yu Tian circled around the "monk" director and exited the observation room, heading towards the Spaceship Hangar. An unnamed fire burned within him, rekindling a long-lost passion.
Five minutes passed, and twenty-one bright lights ascended from Saturn.
Darkstone was a peculiar substance that no remote sensing tools could penetrate, acting as a natural barrier. For a long time, it severely impacted measurements of cosmic density; it couldn't be measured directly but undeniably existed. Over three hundred million kilometers from the Solar System, there was a Darkstone accumulation zone known as the Darkstone Belt. This area was easy to defend yet difficult to attack, with extremely high shielding capabilities that allowed it to completely evade military headquarters' surveillance. Thus, the Poison Dragon organization had persisted for nearly six hundred years.
Just ten minutes after leaving the Solar System, Yu Tian's detector indicated a large number of unidentified flying objects directly ahead on their flight path. The lead ship was traveling at one-third the speed of light and could encounter them in twenty minutes.
"Attention all members! Activate the ray absorption cloaking system; there are anomalies ahead!" Yu Tian transmitted the information to the twenty team members behind him, who were several kilometers away.
Suddenly, Yu Tian remembered something and activated the search system. The unidentified flying objects had just entered a monitoring zone.
Looking at the screen, a smile crept across Yu Tian's face as he murmured softly, "Just as I thought! Those fools are so reckless they’ve mobilized their entire force—how arrogant! Let me have a little chat with you!"
After speaking, Yu Tian pressed the red button and entered the number "2," causing the entire spaceship to vanish—not disappear but move faster than could be perceived.
Ahead lay the full strength of the Poison Dragon organization. Since their leader had been captured, they had shrunk back into the Darkstone Belt, afraid to undertake significant actions. With their boss back and having captured over ten warriors, morale surged. Unable to resist their subordinates' repeated requests, their arrogant leader chose to go all out and launch a surprise attack on the nearest Galaxy mining area to gather resources for recuperation.
However, they were mistaken. They encountered Yu Tian at just the right moment, far from the Darkstone Belt. The nightmare of that day would forever be etched in their memories.
