Just as Nick Fury was about to step out to welcome Coulson and his team back, he was stopped in his tracks.
"Director... something big has happened again!" The hurried Agent looked helpless; he had already made several trips today. Couldn’t these troublemakers take a break for once?
Nick Fury's face darkened like it had been smeared with ink. He clenched his jaw tightly and looked at the subordinate in front of him, a face that had become increasingly familiar lately.
"There’s been a mutation event at Thunder Lord's location, and it has attracted worldwide attention!" The Agent handed over a tablet displaying footage from Chen Fan's villa. Seeing the Director's increasingly grim expression, he sighed internally. "Many people are heading towards Thunder Lord's villa, including foreign agents and some spies under surveillance."
"Have the military and relevant departments taken action?" Nick Fury asked coldly.
"They've already sealed off the area..." The Agent wiped his sweat with a bitter smile and continued, "Because the situation is so bizarre, even some cult organizations have emerged to stir up trouble, claiming their deities have descended and they need to go welcome them!"
"Currently, several leaders of these cults are fighting at the foot of the mountain, making an already tense situation even more chaotic!"
Listening quietly, Nick Fury took a slow, deep breath and barked, "Send armed forces to suppress them. If there's some unknown radiation erupting from the mountain, until we have results, everyone unrelated must be evacuated!"
"Understood, Director. I'll report this immediately!" The Agent secretly admired the Director's quick thinking; he truly was worthy of being the head of S.H.I.E.L.D., finding a reasonable justification in just a few words.
Watching his subordinate leave, Nick Fury finally relaxed a bit and glanced at the footage on the tablet. His wrist trembled uncontrollably.
"This is the real monster!" His lips quivered.
To control thunder over an entire nation's territory surpassed the realm of mutants and superhumans. Now, it had caused a mutation on a mountain spanning ten miles, controlling plants to defy normal growth—
At this thought, Nick Fury felt a chill in his heart. He didn’t know whether such an existence was good or bad for the world.
Shaking his head, he stepped out of his office and headed toward a secret area of headquarters to meet Coulson and retrieve the lost Cosmic Cube...
“Stark... How do we get in? The outside is blocked by the military,” Peter said, his expression troubled as he looked at the screen in front of him. He didn’t really want to go, but his curiosity was overwhelming, creating a conflict within him.
In Big Boy's memory, anything related to Chen Fan was never a good thing!
“Why worry about that?” Tony said as he donned his Iron Armor, holding a huge box that was so large it could easily fit a person inside without feeling cramped. He glanced at Big Boy, who had just equipped himself with new gear, and patted him on the shoulder. “I’m giving you a new toy I developed. This thing can fly at a hundred meters high!”
With that, Tony waved his hand, and one side of the lab's alloy wall split open, revealing a sleek, three-meter-long flying skateboard that was half a meter wide—a product that exuded a sci-fi vibe.
“Flying Skateboard, capable of reaching speeds of ten meters per second. With your physical abilities, it’ll be easy for you to handle!”
As the skateboard slowly floated toward him, Peter felt both excitement and anxiety. He twitched his lips and asked, “If I break it, you won’t make me pay, right? I don’t have any money!”
Having learned from many past experiences, Big Boy had developed a strange sense of caution. Given this situation, he felt it necessary to clarify; otherwise, if he accidentally damaged the equipment, he feared his bills would multiply!
“If it breaks, you won’t have to pay!” Tony grinned.
After becoming Iron Man, he felt detached from his previous life. He had little desire to chat with those he once knew. Peter, as Spider-Man and also recognized as a hero of justice—especially since they both had connections to Chen Fan—was someone he considered a friend.
As a friend, Tony was always generous!
With Tony’s assurance, Peter finally embraced the skateboard in front of him. The design perfectly matched his aesthetic; it truly reflected the work of a narcissist.
“Let’s go! Let’s see what our friend has been tinkering with!” Tony waved for Peter to follow. Once equipped with his armor, he leaped into the air. The thrusters beneath his feet and the engine mounted on his back unleashed flames several meters long under high energy.
Pedestrians below looked up in awe as figures streaked across the sky one after another.
As for why Spider-Man was acting alongside Iron Man, the reporters below were already buzzing with excitement. Finally, they had a headline-worthy topic!
At the foot of Chen Fan's villa, a group of armed soldiers had blocked the path up the mountain. Armored vehicles loaded with machine guns, Autonomous Turrets, laser weapons, and other deadly armaments formed a steel fortress, tightly preventing anyone from ascending.
"Who is your commanding officer? Get him over here! We are the leaders of the Department!"
This shout had been echoing for half a minute. Even the iron-willed soldiers couldn't help but smile wryly; it was rare to see so many high-ranking officials gathered in one place.
At that moment, a roaring sound filled the air as several Armed Helicopters flew in rapidly. A loud voice boomed from above:
"All unauthorized personnel, retreat immediately!"
"This area has been designated a hazardous disaster zone. The anomalies occurring on the mountain are caused by some form of Unknown Radiation. We have yet to determine whether this radiation poses any harm to humans. Please cooperate with relevant personnel for isolation. Anyone who refuses to comply or causes trouble will be subject to execution!"
Countless people stood dumbfounded. Dangerous radiation? Harmful to humans? Isolation? Execution?
—Who are they trying to scare?
The helicopters hovered above the mountaintop, and the pilots along with others onboard marveled at the scene before them: apple trees towering a hundred meters high, corn stalks reaching several meters, and tomatoes winding around the villa in loops...
Everything was filled with a surreal atmosphere.
Just as everyone was lost in thought, a cold, emotionless voice echoed across the area.
"Warning: The area within thirty miles is private property belonging to my family, Aser. Humans lingering here, please leave immediately. If you ignore this warning three times, I will take action against anyone in the vicinity!"
Many people heard this voice, and those who understood the situation turned pale, while others chuckled nervously, all pondering the same question.
In America, invading private territory gives the owner the right to execute trespassers without any legal repercussions.
But what does that matter?
So many people? Even the president wouldn't dare to overlook this, let alone a wealthy individual!
When they arrived here, many had investigated who owned this land—property under the Katy Group.
Although it was a top hundred global enterprise with immense power, in the capitalist society of America, it still didn't hold enough weight.
The citizens observing the unusual phenomenon, along with journalists and some spies or agents mingling in the crowd for various purposes, noticed that the soldiers before them wore serious expressions. Vehicles started up and began to slowly roll down the hill.
"Everyone step back... Those who do not comply will face force!" Soldiers on armored vehicles loaded their weapons, and under the cold gaze of their guns, no one dared to step forward to intervene.
As an armed division under S.H.I.E.L.D., few were unaware of who owned this territory.
—Three warnings and then an attack.
This was definitely not a joke.
Just think of the Thundercloud that loomed over half of New York, and remember how Hulk had nearly been beaten to death by Thunder Lord with just a wave of his hand.
—Who wouldn't feel a chill run down their spine?
"We are the followers of the Nature God Cult. What is happening here is not a mutation, nor some kind of radiation interference. This is a miracle of our Nature God manifesting in the world. Those who believe in the Nature God, follow me to welcome our deity!"
Among the crowd, an Old Priest shouted, surrounded by countless brainwashed followers who responded fervently.
"Charge! Let us welcome the glory of the divine!"
"Don't fear these soldiers; they won't dare to shoot!"
"Demacia... ah, no! The glory of the Nature God is with me!!!"
As he watched the zealous followers and the crowd preparing to surge forward, a sharp gunshot rang out, followed by a barrage of gunfire...
—Bang!
—Bang! Bang! Bang!
Countless people halted in their tracks, their mouths twitching. Who said they wouldn't dare to shoot? Where's that person? Don't hide!
