The underground space served as the research and development base for the Floating Aircraft Carrier.
When Chen Fan saw his Floating Aircraft Carrier, he was immediately struck by its exaggerated appearance.
This was Chen Fan's first experience witnessing a piece of black technology like this aircraft carrier.
From his elevated position, he looked down at the Floating Aircraft Carrier docked on the steel frame, resembling a cold metallic beast. Even in its quiet state, the murderous intent of this weapon had not diminished.
"Zero Unit... 486 meters long and 905 meters wide, significantly larger than Unit One. It has eighteen engines and is equipped with one hundred and twenty Floating Light Cannons!"
"The most impressive feature is Zero Unit's main cannon. With a diameter of about one and a half meters, a single shot can flatten a mountain over a thousand meters high. However, due to the immense recoil, the cannon is rendered useless after just one shot!"
The girl with glasses explained to Chen Fan with a hint of regret in her voice.
Chen Fan blinked in surprise and rested his chin on his hand. Aside from the hull, he noticed nothing else; there were no Autonomous Turrets or even a single gun platform. From afar, the entire aircraft carrier looked like an oversized carrot.
After taking the elevator to the ground level of the base, Chen Fan gained a clearer understanding of the aircraft carrier's condition.
The state of the test model was much better than he had anticipated. It was only missing engines, armaments, and external armor; everything else seemed intact. It certainly didn't look like scrap metal!
Seemingly sensing Chen Fan's thoughts, the girl with glasses tapped on the iron pit of the aircraft carrier and scoffed, "This aircraft carrier was indeed impressive in the past, but even if it were armed now, if it went head-to-head with Unit One, it would probably blow up in less than three seconds! Calling it scrap metal wouldn't be an exaggeration!"
Chen Fan wore a puzzled expression. Who said Zero Unit couldn't defeat Unit One? He knew very well that according to certain settings, any unit named Zero Unit was essentially a cheat code designed to overpower subsequent units; defeating them would be as easy as killing a chicken.
"Mr. Chen Fan, take your time to look around! I need to return to the research department; after all, Unit One is nearing completion and there are many things that require testing!" Perhaps disgusted by Zero Unit, the girl with glasses cast a few glances before showing a hint of disdain on her face. After greeting Chen Fan, she left without looking back.
The departure was remarkably swift and decisive.
Once Glasses Girl left, Chen Fan shifted his gaze away from the Zero Unit's hull, realizing that significant modifications were necessary.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., check the status of the Zero Unit!" Chen Fan muttered.
In terms of advanced technology, the newly born 007 was hard-pressed to compare with the old butler. Since its inception, J.A.R.V.I.S. had specialized in various cutting-edge technologies. Even if Tony's Iron Armor were to operate without J.A.R.V.I.S., it likely wouldn't reach its current level of sophistication.
About three minutes later.
J.A.R.V.I.S. projected a holographic image through Chen Fan's phone while explaining, "This Floating Aircraft Carrier is just like those in the S.H.I.E.L.D. Research Department—essentially a heap of scrap metal!"
As Chen Fan's expression shifted slightly, J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice continued.
"This so-called scrap carrier contains a significant amount of Eidman Alloy in its framework. If it weren't for this factor, modifying this carrier would be less reliable than building a new one from scratch!"
Eidman Alloy!
Chen Fan's eyes lit up; this was a valuable material. It seemed that considerable effort had been invested in constructing the Zero Unit back in the day!
"Mr. Chen Fan, when do you plan to start modifying this aircraft carrier?" J.A.R.V.I.S. inquired after a moment.
"Let's start right now!" Chen Fan replied, his gaze brightening, with flickers of electricity dancing in his dark purple eyes.
As Chen Fan prepared to modify the aircraft carrier, the headquarters of S.H.I.E.L.D. trembled slightly. A vast lawn, stretching for miles, began to crack open, revealing a deep passageway beneath it, which led to the research base of the Floating Aircraft Carrier.
Soon after, startled staff members gathered around, peering curiously into the opening.
Before long, an oddly shaped Iron Lump came into view.
"What is that thing? A giant iron carrot? How ugly!"
"I didn't know S.H.I.E.L.D. had something like this underground. Are they planning to dismantle it and sell it for scrap?"
"Wow... Look! So many Iron Men are coming out! One! Two... Seven! Wow! Thirteen Iron Men just came out at once!"
The crowd's expressions twitched. Since when were Iron Men counted individually? It was clearly just a way to describe them! Shouldn't it be that thirteen Iron Men had arrived? But wait, when did Iron Man ever get referred to in plural?
Many in the Research Department wore relieved expressions as they watched the Zero Unit slowly leave the base. Their previous frustrations over a pile of scrap metal seemed to vanish.
"What are you planning to do?" Black Director approached the lawn, revealing his pearly white teeth while frowning deeply. His expression was particularly grim as he focused his gaze on the boy, his face reflecting a complex mix of emotions.
"I'm modifying my aircraft carrier; what else would I be doing?" Chen Fan squinted slightly. He couldn't shake off the feeling that Black Director was becoming less intimidated by him. In the past, there had been a sense of helplessness when facing him, but now it felt more like caution.
Could it be because of the Cosmic Cube? Chen Fan speculated to himself.
"Are you planning to modify the aircraft carrier?"
"...Isn't it better to do that in the underground base? There are plenty of equipment available there, and professional talents to assist. There's no need to bring the aircraft carrier out!" Nick Fury's tone softened slightly. He hadn't expected the Research Department to expose the existence of the Floating Aircraft Carrier without his permission, and all of this was closely related to Chen Fan standing before him.
"Nick Fury... I will proceed with the modification of the aircraft carrier according to Mr. Chen Fan's instructions. Please arrange for it and ensure that no one else approaches!" J.A.R.V.I.S. controlled thirteen Iron Armors, and one of them transmitted its voice.
As a super artificial intelligence, J.A.R.V.I.S. only obeyed one person and feared only one, while it was indifferent to everyone else.
Nick Fury clenched his fists, his face turning pale. He snorted coldly, turned his head, and issued orders to the distant staff, instructing them not to approach the vast lawn.
Watching Black Director leave, Chen Fan rested his chin on his hand, revealing a thoughtful expression. He had originally wanted to remind a certain Black Director that someone would soon come to seize the Cosmic Cube, but now it seemed...
"Mr. Chen Fan, I believe it's unwise for you to stay in S.H.I.E.L.D. With your abilities, you could easily be considered the strongest in the world; there's no need to mingle with short-sighted humans!" J.A.R.V.I.S. controlled the Iron Armors as they separated from the aircraft carrier while communicating through Chen Fan's phone.
Artificial intelligence also had its own thoughts, especially upon discovering the existence of other worlds.
Chen Fan narrowed his eyes. Initially, he needed guidance from experienced individuals and a public identity to blend into S.H.I.E.L.D., but otherwise, even with his family background, he couldn't withstand the pressure from various global forces if he revealed himself too soon.
"J.A.R.V.I.S.... Your suggestion seems to carry a lot of Tony's influence!" Chen Fan said with a smile. Tony was probably being courted by S.H.I.E.L.D. right now, and his own existence was precisely the fundamental reason for Tony's apprehension.
If S.H.I.E.L.D. were to lose Chen Fan, it would be nearly impossible for Nick Fury and the higher-ups in America to pull Tony over to their side.
"Mr. Chen Fan is wise!" J.A.R.V.I.S. stated plainly, without any pretense. "According to my monitoring, S.H.I.E.L.D. has recently been using the name of Thunder Lord to invite dozens of individuals with special abilities, who are currently training at a secret base!"
Chen Fan squinted his eyes. He didn't mind S.H.I.E.L.D. recruiting talent under his banner, but J.A.R.V.I.S.'s suggestion was quite intriguing.
After some contemplation, Chen Fan made a decision: for now, he did not want to detach himself from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s banner.
Doing so would make him a target for Foreign Powers and America. Even if it wasn't overt, there would be hidden schemes aimed at those close to him...
Chen Fan couldn't constantly keep the people he cared about sheltered under his wings!
That would drive him crazy!
Thus, maintaining a positive public image and carefully considering his stance was crucial.
So, Chen Fan decided that from now on, he would listen to the adjustments but ignore the propaganda, refusing to bow down to any sweetened traps!
