Chapter 145: Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye
Prince Huixin had already grasped what he needed to know. He said, "Your information is quite useful to me. You can rest now."
The man nodded. Both his spirit and body needed a break. He lay down, and his wife expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you all. I thought he wouldn't survive..."
Prince Huixin reassured her, "He is fine now. You can rest easy. If you need anything, just let my soldiers know."
Prince Huixin gestured for the nearby patrolling soldiers to take good care of him. The wife thanked Prince Huixin once more, and he nodded before leaving. The Military Doctor walked alongside Prince Huixin, while Chen Yushan stared wide-eyed at the Military Doctor, her eyes as big as saucers. There was admiration in Chen Yushan's gaze as she exclaimed, "You actually healed him completely! Before you started treating him, I... I thought he was going to die!"
The Military Doctor, noticing the look in Chen Yushan's eyes, appeared quite pleased with himself. "Yes, at first I didn't have much confidence either," he said, glancing meaningfully at Prince Huixin as if seeking his approval. "But thankfully, I managed to heal him."
Prince Huixin cast an appreciative look at the Military Doctor. "You did well. Go prepare more of those medicine bottles. I doubt that monster that injured him was the only one."
The Military Doctor nodded. "I'll get right on it."
As Prince Huixin watched the Military Doctor walk away, he took hold of the reins and turned his horse toward the inner city. As a lord of the city, he knew he could easily avoid such places, but unlike other princes, Prince Huixin enjoyed mingling with the crowd. He understood that by frequently engaging with the people, he could gather information that spies could not obtain.
Once again, he had heard news that needed to be discussed with Wei Deputy.

Despite appearing very calm near the Great Palace Kingdom, Sanjiaozhu knew this tranquility would not last long. Night had fallen, and most people had returned home to rest under the cover of darkness. Sanjiaozhu was eager to go back as well but still had some matters to attend to.
In fact, Sanjiaozhu enjoyed being busy because it proved that the Great Palace King valued him. Being valued by the Great Palace King naturally came with responsibilities, but Sanjiaozhu relished it.
A slightly shorter guard stood outside an arched mountain gate and bowed respectfully to Sanjiaozhu upon seeing the High Priestess arrive. The guard was fully awake now and stood tall as Sanjiaozhu addressed him. "Your watch is important; don't doze off and make mistakes."
The guard quickly nodded in agreement.
Sanjiaozhu declared, "I am going down. No one is to disturb me."
The guard nodded. He had heard such orders before and did not question what Sanjiaozhu intended to do below. Like the other guards, he seemed to exist merely to obey. This archway belonged to a towering cliff, riddled with countless passages and numerous hidden chambers. Even the guards who had been stationed here for years could not know how many secret rooms lay within.
The archway was wide enough for seven or eight people to pass side by side. There should have been two guards stationed outside, but now only one remained. Sanjiaozhu did not inquire about the whereabouts of the other guard and stepped inside. As he ventured deeper, strange sounds echoed from within, resembling the sound of iron being struck, accompanied by the rhythmic clanging of hammers.
However, Sanjiaozhu did not head toward the source of the hammering; instead, he turned into another passage and continued deeper into the labyrinth. After a while, the sound of hammering faded away, leaving only Sanjiaozhu's heavy breathing resonating in the flickering light of the corridor. Only the High Priestess had the right to enter the inner sanctum; anyone who intruded out of curiosity would face severe judgment if discovered.
Sanjiaozhu arrived at a storage chamber where a square platform stood in the center. At each corner of the platform stood a lamp post as tall as a person.
Approaching the platform, Sanjiaozhu suddenly felt a surge of excitement. He murmured to himself, "Soon, everything will return to its rightful place. The Gravel Demon God will meet his deserved fate, and we will reclaim our rightful dominion over this land."
His words echoed in his mind repeatedly, igniting a strong sense of pride within him as his eyes sparkled with anticipation.
"We have all made our efforts," Sanjiaozhu spoke to the platform, or perhaps to the air itself. "The Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye, you will not disappoint us, will you?"
It seemed that Sanjiaozhu had become somewhat deranged or enchanted, muttering to himself in the empty chamber. Naturally, no one responded, but he felt satisfied and nodded to himself before closing his eyes in concentration.
As a mage warrior, Sanjiaozhu extended his palm toward the platform, sending forth a beam of unusual light that illuminated the dark patterns on its surface. A hidden pedestal rumbled up from below, revealing the core of the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye.
"You are so beautiful," Sanjiaozhu exclaimed in a low voice, gazing with immense joy at the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye, which was now level with his gaze.
Surrounded by a golden ring, the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye radiated an unprecedented brilliance. Sanjiaozhu focused intently on it as it began to tremble silently. The platform in the chamber shook as if it had come to life.
"You know my intentions, don't you?" Hope burned brightly in Sanjiaozhu's eyes.
He stepped forward to take hold of the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye, but as soon as it left the platform, its light dimmed significantly. Sanjiaozhu's expression changed dramatically. "What is happening?!"
Sanjiaozhu made a decisive move, immediately taking the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye out of the secret chamber. His face was filled with worry, and anyone who saw him would surely be taken aback. Breathing rapidly at times and then calming down, he muttered, "Why is the light of the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye so dim?"
Instead of reporting to the Great Palace King right away, Sanjiaozhu entered another passage. As he walked through the narrow corridor, the sounds of hammering grew louder. Before long, he could clearly hear the busy sounds of labor, accompanied by strange chirping noises that were soon drowned out by the clanging.
Sanjiaozhu arrived at a workshop where the lights were bright. It took a while for his eyes to adjust, and he saw dozens of sturdy craftsmen working hard with their iron. A massive furnace loomed above them, with molten metal bubbling below, adding to the heat.
The weapons and armor of the Great Palace Kingdom were all produced in-house. The metallic weapons gleamed brilliantly as the craftsmen quickly stripped off their casings and tossed them into a large water tank. Suddenly, steam erupted, and one slow-moving craftsman nearly got scalded.
The other craftsmen worked tirelessly on various components while several guards patrolled to supervise them, ensuring that everyone was doing their job properly.
Sanjiaozhu scanned the workshop but did not find the person he was looking for. He called out, "Linde! Where is Linde? Come out!"
His voice boomed throughout the room, startling the craftsmen so much that they stopped working altogether; two of them almost spilled molten metal on their companions.
"Get back to work! What are you standing around for?" Linde rushed over from the other end of the workshop. The craftsmen immediately complied. Linde, in his fifties and the chief craftsman here, approached Sanjiaozhu with a look of concern. He was thin and had only a tuft of gray hair left on his head.
With trepidation, Linde asked, "What brings you here in such a hurry?"
"Take a look at this!" Sanjiaozhu handed over the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye.
Linde examined it closely and said, "Has it dimmed? I see." He raised his head and scrutinized Sanjiaozhu before starting to reassure him. "Sanjiaozhu, don’t worry; there’s nothing wrong with the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye."
"Nothing wrong? How could it change like this?" Sanjiaozhu questioned sharply.
Linde replied, "You should know that in recent years, many Demon Beasts have emerged from cracks in reality and have been absorbing essence day and night. This has caused the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye to absorb less essence. However, its effectiveness hasn’t diminished; I open the window at regular intervals to allow it to absorb essence. In fact, its sustained effect has increased significantly since it was last sealed."
Only then did Sanjiaozhu relax slightly. "You better be telling the truth; if its sustained effect turns out to be short-lived, I’ll have words with you!"
Linde suddenly widened his eyes in shock and exclaimed, "Sanjiaozhu, I’m not lying to you!"
"You better not be," Sanjiaozhu shot a glance at Linde. "The Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye is the most crucial component of the formation; you better not have slacked off."
Linde's pent-up frustration finally eased a bit. He swallowed hard and said, "Great Palace King entrusted me with overseeing the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye, and I will not betray his trust."
Sanjiaozhu was well aware of Linde's character. Although Linde appeared somewhat comical on the outside, he was meticulous in his work. He tucked the Crimson Twilight Ninefold Formation Eye into his embrace and asked, "How is the weapon forging coming along?"
Linde glanced at the busy craftsmen and replied, "We are currently working hard to meet the deadline."
Sanjiaozhu insisted, "Make sure to complete it on time."
"I understand. We won't delay; you can rest assured about that, Sanjiaozhu," Linde assured him.
"Do you need anything else right now?" Sanjiaozhu looked at the other craftsmen. "Whatever difficulties you have, feel free to speak up. We cannot afford any carelessness with weapons and armor."
Linde replied, "Thank you for your concern, Sanjiaozhu. We don’t need anything at the moment. The space here is limited; it gets crowded with too many people. The current number of workers is sufficient."
Sanjiaozhu waved his hand, signaling Linde to step back. His breathing finally calmed down. He had rushed over to question Linde earlier out of concern for the integrity of the formation eye. As long as it remained intact, he had no further issues.
Sanjiaozhu touched the formation eye in his embrace before heading out of the secret chamber toward the residence of the Great Palace King.
