In the early morning, the sun slowly rose, casting its light down and gradually warming the air.
"I'm so tired."
At the Baroque Works base on Second Island, Perona stretched and walked out of the house.
She held an umbrella; having lived in dark areas for so long, she found it hard to adapt to the presence of sunlight.
"Work, work."
Perona made her way to the back courtyard, where there was a shed. Inside, a figure sat in disarray within a Sea Prism Stone Cage.
"Feed them."
Perona called for a servant and handed food to Lucci before heading downstairs to deliver food to Kaku and Califa.
She sat at a table not far from the shed when a seagull flew by and landed in front of her.
"Here you go."
Perona placed 100 Berries into the bird's pocket before taking a newspaper.
"Baroque Works and former Seven Warlords of the Sea, Donquixote Doflamingo, killed."
Perona saw the major news headline in the bottom right corner of the front page. She read it slowly and immediately flipped to the corresponding section, her eyes widening in shock.
"You mean Doflamingo was killed?"
From within the Sea Prism Stone Cage, Lucci propped himself up and shouted loudly.
"That's right."
Perona said, "This is what happened yesterday, and someone saw Ace and Kizaru fighting."
"Give me the newspaper."
Lucci said impatiently.
"Alright, alright."
Perona handed over the page of the newspaper to Lucci, who took it and read it carefully, his expression growing darker. "Even the strategist of the Revolutionary Army has appeared. There are indeed traces of the Revolutionary Army in this."
As he continued reading, Lucci's eyes narrowed. "And he fought against Jack from the Beast Pirates, killing him."
"There's also a new bounty here."
Perona pulled out several sheets of paper, frowning. "Why is it so high?"
"Whose bounties are there?"
Lucci asked quickly.
"There are many."
Perona replied: "Ace's bounty is nine hundred million Berries, Sabo's bounty has reached seven hundred fifty million, Heckler's bounty is two hundred million, Vivi's bounty is eighty million, Thief Cat Nami's bounty is one hundred fifty million, and the bounty for the Eight is two hundred forty million. Former Warlord Law's bounty is four hundred million. Nico Robin's bounty is two hundred thirty million, and the president's bounty..."
Lucci asked, "How much?"
"Six hundred million."
"I remember that after defeating Admiral Gumeir, the bounty increased to three hundred million, right? How did it suddenly jump by another three hundred million?" Perona asked.
A bounty of three hundred million is something very few can achieve in one go.
"That is indeed strange," Lucci replied. "Defeating a Seven Warlords of the Sea usually results in an increase of at most one hundred million. Ace and Aokiji fought, and even after killing Moria, their bounties only increased by two hundred million. Your captain's bounty jumped by three hundred million, while Ace only gained one hundred million, Sabo also one hundred million, and Law just fifty million. Based on the descriptions of their battles, it seems Ace and Sabo's bounties increased disproportionately. But your captain's increase of three hundred million indicates that his performance far surpassed the other two. Yet, that wasn't reflected in the descriptions. This raises a question."
"What question?" Perona asked curiously.
"There must have been battles we are unaware of. Jack's fight was mentioned, but the others' bounties are relatively low. It’s very likely that it was your captain who killed Jack," Lucci explained. "This is just a guess, but such a high bounty means that the Navy has recognized your captain's strength."
At this point, Lucci's eyes slowly lit up. "This is quite good news."
"What do you mean?" Perona asked, puzzled.
"This means the Navy will send stronger forces to hunt you down. And with Jack dead, Kaido won't let this go easily," Lucci said.
"But that's going to be difficult," Perona replied. "With Ace, Sabo, Law, and the captain together, any force would find it hard to capture them. The Navy can't launch a full-scale attack either."
"You’re not wrong," Lucci admitted. He felt pleased about Xia Qiu being exposed but suddenly realized that with such strength, neither the Navy nor Kaido might be able to capture all of them.
"Give up."
Perona said, "Instead of hoping for others, it would be better to pray that the captain can successfully complete the plan. By then, it won't be a problem for you to be released."
Upon hearing this, Lucci leaned back and lay down in the Sea Prism Stone Cage.
...
On Doldrums, on the deserted island, everyone was resting and recuperating.
"Your injury has indeed healed; your healing ability is incredible," Nico Robin remarked as she looked at Xiaqiu's forehead, where an arm had grown, gently touching the area around the wound.
"Of course! My healing ability is no joke."
Xiaqiu proudly shook his head and then asked, "Nico Robin, how's your injury? How do you feel now?"
"It still hurts a bit."
Nico Robin replied, "It seems I'll need to rest for a while."
"That's terrible."
Xiaqiu said with a hint of concern; among all of them, he was most worried about Nico Robin. The others he could worry about a little less.
After a night of treatment, their injuries had improved significantly, but they were still far from ready to fight.
However, Ace and Sabo maintained their full combat strength. With Heckler on their side, as long as the Four Emperors and Sea Emperor didn't go all out, they wouldn't be able to do anything to them.
Xiaqiu thought as he gazed into the distance.
Ace and Luffy gathered together, with Ace guiding Luffy in his training.
Zoro and Vivi were discussing swordsmanship, the three of them engaged in an enthusiastic sparring session.
Kera held a Transponder Snail, reporting the situation, while Heckler was training alongside Sabo.
Most others were resting. Sanji, limping on his injured leg, was preparing delicious food on the ship and personally delivered it to Cecilia, who was the most severely injured.
Xiaqiu's gaze swept across everyone. Soon, these individuals would join her in battle against Kaido.
This time, there would be no deaths like before.
Xiaqiu spoke softly, "Nico Robin, you shouldn't go into battle against Kaido."
"Why not?" Nico Robin asked, puzzled.
Xiaqiu replied, "It's too dangerous; this battle is no simple matter."
"I've experienced many battles; how could I possibly fear this?" Nico Robin said with a smile.
"The Four Emperors are not an ordinary force," Xiaqiu warned. "This upcoming confrontation will inevitably result in casualties. Nico Robin, you should listen to me."
"If you want me not to go, there's a way."
Nico Robin said as she met Xiaqiu's gaze. She smiled and added, "As long as you promise me not to fight Kaido."
"There's no way I won't go."
Xiaqiu shook her head. "We're already committed; we have no choice but to act. If we don't seek them out, they will come looking for us."
Xiaqiu knew that defeating Kaido was the only way to truly become invincible.
He had to confront Kaido.
"This is it," he said.
Nico Robin smiled and replied, "After the battle, you'll be facing Kaido. If you're not afraid, why should I back down? Don't worry, I can take care of myself."
"More importantly, you need to protect yourself too." Nico Robin looked at Xiaqiu with a serious expression. "Promise me that if things go south, you'll call for help or run away. If something happens to you, I'll be very upset."
"I will," Xiaqiu nodded. Just as he was about to change the subject, Feng Kelei suddenly pointed into the distance and said, "What’s that? It looks like a Sea Vessel."
Everyone turned their gaze toward the horizon, where several Sea Vessels appeared, faintly visible in the distance.
"That Pirate Flag looks like..."
Christmas raised his sniper rifle and focused on the distant ships, his expression changing drastically. "Beast Pirates, and Kaido is on the largest ship."
"Beast Pirates? Why are they here?"
Xiaqiu straightened up and shouted, "We need to retreat! Let's get out of here."
Right now, they had too many injured and were not in any condition to fight against the Beast Pirates.
"We can't run," Christmas said with a bitter smile. "Because we’re already surrounded."
More and more Sea Vessels emerged in the distance, at least a dozen of them.
If they left recklessly, they would only be crushed at sea.
"What should we do?"
Seeing this scene, everyone looked towards Xiaqiu.
"What about Kaido?"
Xiaqiu replied coldly, "Then we go to war. I want to make sure they come and never return."
