"Who is it?"
Heckler turned to the shadowy figure, his expression wary.
The others also braced themselves, eyes fixed on the silhouette, alert and cautious.
"Shh, keep your voices down," a clear female voice rang out from a distance, tinged with a hint of annoyance.
"A woman?" Elken asked, curiosity piqued.
"Nami?" Ace suddenly spoke up, looking toward the distance. "Is that you, Nami?"
"That's right, it's me."
With a snap, a burst of flames illuminated the area, revealing a woman with orange hair standing there, a smile on her face.
Seeing Nami, Ace asked in surprise, "What are you doing here? But it looks like you weren't shackled."
"Of course not."
Nami walked over and said, "In a moment, I'll unlock the cuffs for everyone. Please don't leave this spot for now."
As she spoke, Nami pulled out a set of keys from her waist and began unlocking their handcuffs.
All the keys were jumbled together, making it somewhat troublesome to find the right one. After quite some time, she finally managed to unlock all of them.
"What exactly happened?"
Heckler stood up, looking at Nami not far away.
"This place is spacious and very clean."
Ace's right hand ignited with flames, illuminating the surroundings.
The cage was extremely spacious and had been cleaned thoroughly; it hardly resembled a prison.
"What is this? Food and water?"
Elken discovered some boxes in one corner of the room.
"Send someone to check. If anyone comes, extinguish the flames immediately," Nami said, tossing aside the torch and matchbox in her hand.
"I'll do it."
Cecilia positioned herself near the cell door, watching intently into the distance.
"Let me explain what's going on," Nami addressed everyone. "The reason you all were captured is that Fishman Island had no choice. The World Government issued an order for Fishman Island to fully respond to Baroque Works and Ace. As soon as you arrived, they were required to capture you. Although Fishman Island is under my father's control, the Fish-Man Kingdom is also part of the World Government, which is seeking more power and cannot defy the government's orders for now."
Ace asked, "So Fishman Island is just putting on a show?"
Feng Kelei expressed his dissatisfaction, "But they could have told us."
"They can't inform you because the World Government's agents are right here," Nami replied. "They have stationed themselves on this island, constantly monitoring Fishman Island's actions. Therefore, to avoid raising their suspicions, they had to personally capture you."
"Ace," Nami said, "when did you come here?"
"Brother Jinbei called me. After he received your call, he waited for your arrival. But the next day, he got orders from the Navy to capture you and the giant beast. He didn't want to apprehend you; although he has no feelings for Baroque Works, since you were acting with them, he didn't plan to take action either. So he took this opportunity to leave. Before departing, he contacted Whitebeard's Pirate Crew, and that's how I ended up here," Nami explained with a smile.
"I see," Ace replied.
Heckler chimed in, "So in other words, Fishman Island never intended to capture us?"
"Exactly. Otherwise, they wouldn't have given me the key," Nami said, still smiling.
Vivi curiously asked, "So what should we do next?"
Nami replied, "We wait. The World Government's agents already know you would come here; they will negotiate with King Neptune and should take you away. Once the signal comes through, Captain Muir will attack the Navy while I secretly lead you out. We will be discovered by King's Army, and then we will pretend to fight them to capture King Neptune and force him to let you go. After that, we can return to the ocean."
"Is Captain Muir already here?" Ace asked with curiosity.
Mule was the captain of Whitebeard's Pirate Crew's Eighth Division and also a Fishman.
"Yes, he's already here."
Nami continued, "Not only that, but he didn't leave with Jinbei; instead, he joined us."
"But this plan has a huge flaw," Cecilia interjected. "What about the president? If he sees us getting captured, I estimate..."
Hearing this, everyone exchanged glances. They could imagine that the president's explosive temper would likely lead him to demolish Fishman Island.
"But don't worry," Nami said. "Eight has already gone to see the president. He was outside when you were captured. He will inform the president to wait outside for now, and then we can leave together."
"That's good to hear."
Ace sighed in relief and stood up. "So we can only stay here for now?"
"That's right."
Nami nodded. "For the time being, you all have to stay here, and you'll need to wear disguising handcuffs."
"Can't we just fight our way out?"
Elken snorted, releasing a puff of air from his nostrils in frustration. "They're just a few agents."
Nami replied coldly, "Do you want Fishman Island to be threatened because of us?"
"It's just for a little while; we won't be here long."
Heckler stated plainly, "We won't be threatened anyway, so let's just wait here."
With Xiaqiu absent, Heckler was effectively the direct leader of Baroque Works, and his orders took precedence.
Hearing his words, the others fell silent.
Meanwhile, at a distance on Fish-Man Street, Eight stood beside Xiaqiu's head and gently said, "The truth is that King Neptune is not the enemy; you don't need to worry."
Eight explained the situation to Xiaqiu, fearing he might mistakenly believe that King Neptune was an enemy and take aggressive action.
Xiaqiu nodded slightly, using Observation Haki to scan the surroundings. There were people observing from a distance, and they could surely hear him.
A simple nod indicated that he understood.
"Nonsense," he said. "As long as you know, we don’t need to stay here any longer. Hody plans to rebel, and we need to spread the word. So we have to find a chance to leave."
Xiaqiu shook his head in disagreement.
"Why?" asked Eight.
Xiaqiu shifted his position, turning his back to the guards. Using Life Restoration, he controlled his Tentacles to write a few words on the ground: "Lurk."
"Lurk?"
Eight looked at Xiaqiu and asked, "Do you mean to hide among them and observe their next move?"
Xiaqiu nodded, erased the previous writing, and wrote again: "Kill."
"You want to kill Hody and his crew?"
Eight looked at Xiaqiu, a hint of urgency in his voice. "My lord, we only need to stop them."
Xiaqiu shook his head, lying there as he wrote: "Useless."
"Useless?"
Upon hearing this, Eight glanced at the distance and finally made up his mind.
Two years ago, he had already sensed Hody's rebellious intentions. After meeting with Jinbei, he shared the information with him.
Jinbei believed that they were all fellow Fishmen and felt it was inappropriate to take action against them. Eight also thought they should give them a chance.
However, he never expected that two years later, they still planned to rebel, and this time it was while Brother Jinbei was away.
If everything went according to the original plan, once Ace and the others left and Jinbei couldn't return, Fishman Island would face tremendous trouble.
It would be better to wait for them to act, coordinating their efforts to capture them all at once.
Because they were all Fishmen, Eight still found it hard to be completely ruthless.
But since the president intended to proceed this way, Eight could only use this reasoning to convince himself as he awaited Hody's next move.
