Chapter 148: Illusion
Bola looked at the three people who suddenly appeared before him, his expression darkening. He coldly asked, "How did you find this place?"
"Quite simple," Lucci replied lightly. "When I left, I threw the note you gave me onto the ground outside the dock."
"I am like Lucci, a Boatman of Dock One, and one of the five foremen," Long-Nosed Man added with a smile. "I knew the reason for Lucci's departure, so I informed Califa and Bruno."
Bola's face grew even darker as he asked, "Then how did you find your way here?"
"The biggest mistake you made was overlooking it," Lucci said, waving his hand. A pigeon flew down and perched above the cage. Lucci gently continued, "It was Haria who brought them here."
This pigeon, named Haria, was Lucci's pet and had been with him since childhood, nearly twenty years ago. It was incredibly intelligent and could perform various actions in coordination with Lucci.
Long-Nosed Man explained, "Late at night, Haria found us and led us away. We prepared a bit and took a boat to get here."
"A boat?" Bola asked in confusion. "But we didn't receive any signals indicating a boat was approaching."
"Very simple," Bruno said. "We jumped into the sea from a distance, and they brought me closer to the island. Then, on the backside of the island, using my ability, we entered Interdimensional Space and quietly arrived here."
"Is that so?" Bola looked at them in surprise.
"Give it up," Lucci said. "Your leader thinks you can't defeat me, so you certainly won't be able to take on the three of them."
Kaku's combat power was extremely strong, second only in terms of energy levels. Although he hadn't yet consumed the Giraffe Fruit to transform into his giraffe form, his strength was formidable.
Bruno's energy levels were relatively weak, but he possessed a bug fruit, the Gate-Gate Fruit.
Califa had very low energy levels, but her combat ability was decent.
The three of them might not be able to defeat Lucci individually, but when working together, their combined strength and coordination with their Devil Fruit abilities would deal greater damage to slower opponents.
Especially against that giant beast; no matter how powerful it was, if Bruno got close enough, it would be perfectly subdued.
As for Iss Dual Hands, he seemed to be a Devil Fruit user as well, but he surely wouldn't be a match for Califa.
So their chances of winning were quite high.
"Not only that," Kaku continued with a smile, "but as soon as we noticed Lucci was here, we notified the Naval Battleship to come." He grinned. "In half an hour at most, they will arrive—four battleships in total, one Major General and three Colonels. You won't be able to escape."
"So it's better to surrender and take us to meet your leader," Lucci said softly as he looked at Bola. "Perhaps then we can let you go this time."
"This?"
"I don't know what to do," Bola said, but just then, a booming voice echoed, "What gives you the illusion that you can win?"
"Huh?"
The four of them immediately turned their gaze toward the distance. When they spotted the source of the voice, they were all frozen in place, for it was none other than the giant beast.
"You... you can talk," Califa said, stunned.
"Hey, is this some kind of joke?" Kaku asked, disbelief evident in his tone.
"A talking beast?" Lucci squinted his eyes.
They had encountered talking non-human entities before, but those were at least humanoid. They had never seen a beast like this capable of speech.
"Of course."
Xiaqiu smiled and said, "Not only that, but you were looking for the leader behind these people, right? Here I am."
"You are their leader?"
Lucci looked at the giant beast in astonishment. A talking beast that was also the mastermind behind everything.
"That's right."
Xiaqiu slowly stood up and declared, "It is I."
"So what? Your combat power may be strong, but defeating the Demon Spider Vice Admiral was probably due to the seawater, right? The three of us combined should be more than enough to take you down," Kaku said coldly.
Xiaqiu looked at him and smiled, "You must be Kaku, one of the five foremen of Carrera Company at Dock One."
"You actually know me?" Kaku was slightly taken aback.
Xiaqiu then turned to the other two figures and said, "Bruno, with a power level of 8, runs a bar in Water Seven and is a Gate-Gate Fruit user. Califa, with a power level of 6, serves as an assistant to Esbagu. Am I right?"
"How could you possibly know that?"
The four on p9 were astonished; she knew so many details.
Their undercover identities, Devil Fruit abilities, and power levels were all known—this was impossible to learn from the outside and could only have been revealed from within.
Lucci realized something and coldly asked, "So you’ve known our identities all along."
"That's correct."
Xiaqiu smiled and said, "And my target has never just been you, Lucci. After all, you told me about the Six Styles; I can't be sure if what you said is right or wrong, so I can only capture one more person for comparison."
"So this has been a conspiracy from the start? To lure them into rescuing me," Lucci asked Xiaqiu.
Xiaqiu smiled again and replied, "Exactly. But since all of you are too powerful, we couldn't capture all of you at once. We had to divide and conquer, so we captured you first, leaving a flaw to attract the others. Otherwise, why would we choose an island so close to Water Seven?"
Lucci's expression darkened while Califa snorted coldly, "So what if you know? You still might not be able to defeat us."
"Is that so?"
Suddenly, Xiaqiu moved swiftly on her six legs and charged toward the three of them.
"Run! Get out of here, spread the word, and gather the warships for an assault."
Lucci knew that since the opponent had taken such action, they must have had ample confidence.
However, Xiaqiu was incredibly fast, arriving in front of the three in an instant.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.
The three used Shave and vanished in a blink.
At the moment they disappeared, Xiaqiu used Observation Haki to lock onto Bruno's position and charged directly at him.
"Huh?"
Faced with Xiaqiu's incoming headbutt, Bruno immediately extended his hand. "As long as I open a door on your head, you'll lose your combat ability."
Bruno thought as he pressed both hands against Xiaqiu's head.
Bang.
Their heads collided; Xiaqiu's head remained unscathed while Bruno's arms shattered, sending him flying backward to the ground.
Coughing up blood, Bruno looked up in confusion and asked, "W-why?"
Xiaqiu did not respond, but Lucci understood. His expression darkened as he said, "It's Armament Haki."
He knew of the existence of Armament Haki, but he had not practiced it. Instead, he focused on honing his physical abilities. At a young age, his strength was already formidable.
Afterward, he had to remain in hiding for five years. Although this allowed him to further develop his physical prowess, being with his coworkers made it difficult to reveal his full strength.
Thus, he would not be using Armament Haki for the time being.
"First, eliminate Bruno."
Xiaqiu did not pursue the other two but charged straight at Bruno.
"Bruno."
Seeing this scene, Kaku and Califa halted in their tracks, intending to intervene.
However, Lucci shouted loudly, "Run! Get out of here!"
Kaku and Califa exchanged glances and moved away in opposite directions.
But Xiaqiu called out, "Leave it to you!"
Boom.
From the direction Kaku was fleeing, two Sand Blades appeared, aiming for him.
"Storm Leg."
Kaku kicked out twice while airborne, unleashing two Wave Slashes that pierced through the Sand Blades and then spread backward, striking a figure behind him.
But that figure instantly transformed into sand, slowly becoming solid again.
"You are Princess Vivi of Alabasta."
Kaku's expression darkened as he recognized her identity. After Crocodile's death, the princess of the kingdom who had consumed the Sand-Sand Fruit was Vivi.
"I didn't plan to help, yet here I am, recognized anyway."
Vivi said helplessly, "So I'm sorry, but I really can't let you leave alive."
Meanwhile, Califa leaped towards the distance. Just as she burst through the courtyard wall, a figure descended with a thunderous sound, kicking towards her body.
Facing this kick, Califa neither dodged nor evaded; instead, she raised her own leg to counter.
Bang.
Their legs collided, and both figures staggered back a step.
"Who are you?"
Califa looked at the tall woman before her, her expression somewhat astonished. With her own power level, she was surprised that she could withstand her kick technique.
"My name is Cecilia."
The woman smiled and said, "I'll be your opponent."
At that moment, a row of pits suddenly appeared in the wall. The courtyard wall collapsed as Bola stepped out and said, "And I am here too."
Looking at the two women in front of her, Califa's expression was exceptionally grim.
Meanwhile, Xiaqiu walked up to Bruno, who was trying to open the door, and bit him to death. She then turned to Bola and said, "Call someone in. First, get Lucci onto the submarine and wait for them to determine the winner."
"Understood."
Bola nodded and called for someone to bring the cage onto the submarine.
However, Xiaqiu had no intention of helping Vivi and Cecilia; she wanted to see the outcome between them.
