Chapter 146: Rob Lucci
As May arrived, the heat began to intensify. At Dock One of Water Seven's shipyard, a tall man was carrying a log towards a corner of the factory.
He wore a white tank top and work pants, with a White Dove perched on his left shoulder.
After placing the log down, he sat on a nearby crate and began to review some blueprints.
At that moment, two figures entered the scene. One was a muscular and imposing man, while the other was a young man around twenty-two or twenty-three years old, thin and unattractive, with disheveled hair.
"Lucci, he’s looking for you about something important," the tall man said as he approached Lucci and pointed to the young man beside him.
"Looking for me?"
Lucci tilted his head and glanced at the young man. The dove on his shoulder opened its beak and pointed at him, then a voice rang out, "What do you want?"
"Wow, the dove talked," the Weak Figure exclaimed in surprise.
"Cut the nonsense. What do you want?" Lucci said, looking at him as the dove flapped its wings and spoke again.
"So it’s ventriloquism."
The Weak Figure realized that the voice was coming from Lucci and lost interest. He snapped back to reality and pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket, handing it to Lucci. "Someone asked me to give you this."
"Oh?"
Rob Lucci felt a surge of curiosity as he picked up the paper, opened it, and focused his gaze.
"Hmm?"
His eyes widened in shock as he read the line written on it: "Rob Lucci of P9, I know you have been lurking in Water Seven for nearly five years to obtain the Pluton Blueprint, and I happen to know the location of the Historical Text that records the whereabouts of the Ancient Weapon. If you want to acquire them without jeopardizing your infiltration mission, head to the dock immediately. There is a ship marked with the number 4."
How is this possible...
The paper contained far too much information—his identity, his mission, and even his location.
Just his identity alone was known only to his colleagues in Water Seven; no one else was aware of P9's existence.
Even the mayor of Water Seven, Esbagu, was oblivious to P9, knowing only about P1 through P8.
Moreover, this person knew how long he had been undercover—nearly five years—and had details about his mission.
Only P0, P9, and high-ranking officials of the World Government could possibly know such things.
Not only that, but they also knew about the Underworld Blueprint and the location of the Ancient Weapon.
Who wrote this note?
"Who sent you this?" Rob Lucci stood up, his gaze cold as he looked at the man across from him.
"Lucci, what does it say?" the burly man asked curiously.
Lucci shook his head and said, "Buzz, it's nothing."
"But you look a bit unwell. Is something wrong? I can help you," Buzz said, looking at Lucci.
"Buzz."
Seeing that Buzz wouldn't leave, Lucci's expression darkened, and he couldn't help but clench his fist. But he quickly added, "I can handle it; it's just some trouble. You should go."
"If you can't solve it, come find me again," Buzz said, scratching his head as he turned to leave.
"Tell me, who gave you the note?" Lucci asked, staring at the figure in front of him.
"A man. He gave me these to pass on to you," the young man shrugged and replied.
"And where is that person now?"
Lucci looked at the young man and asked coldly.
The young man yawned and said, "He should have left by now."
"Take me to where you met him," Lucci said, his gaze icy.
"I can't take you there."
The young man suddenly smiled and added, "There's another note. That person told me to give it to you as long as you didn't plan to go right away."
He took out a piece of paper and handed it to Lucci.
"What is this?"
Lucci frowned as he read the note, which said, "Mr. Lucci, please do not attempt to do anything else. You have ten minutes to reach the designated location. Remember, you can only go alone; do not contact anyone else, and please do not communicate with others in any way. Trust me, I can see your every move. Rest assured, your safety will not be threatened in the slightest."
If they could see his every move, then there must be people around him.
Lucci glanced around; dozens of Boatmen were present, most of them busy with their work. Only a few were watching him, but he couldn't tell if they were monitoring him. Even if they were, they might not be looking directly at him.
Damn it.
Lucci found himself in a tricky situation. He couldn't contact his colleagues and had to follow the other party's orders to board the ship and leave immediately.
What did they want from him? What were they going to discuss? And how could they guarantee his safety?
If this was a trap, what should he do?
But the fact that they knew so much information was enough to jeopardize their nearly five-year mission just by exposing it.
Not only that, but they also knew what he wanted—the Pluton Blueprint—making it impossible for Lucci to refuse.
Moreover, Lucci had confidence in his own abilities.
He couldn't jeopardize the mission, especially since Pluton was too important.
He could only move forward to see what kind of people they were.
Lucci snorted coldly and walked away from Dock One, heading outside.
There were many sea vessels docked there, among which one ship had the number 4 written on its hull.
"Is this the one?" Lucci wondered as he approached the large ship, discreetly tossing down two pieces of paper with his right hand before climbing the ladder onto the ship. He noticed several figures standing on the deck.
"Are you Mr. Lucci? I'm the captain of this cargo ship. I heard you're looking for passage?" a figure asked, looking at Lucci.
"Passage?"
Lucci paused slightly, realizing that this ship might not know his true identity. He replied, "That's right, but where are you headed? Are you sure it's on the way?"
The captain smiled and said, "We're going to Daggerlish Kingdom, and we can take you along."
"That's exactly where I want to go," Lucci nodded and walked to the ship's railing, making a gesture with his right hand before falling silent.
This was a cargo ship that had merely stopped here by chance; it likely didn't know the identity of those searching for him. Therefore, he could only wait and see how things unfolded.
The vessel sailed away into the distance, moving further from Water Seven. Lucci assessed the direction they were heading—it was indeed towards Daggerlish Kingdom.
What organization is there?
Lucci pondered the information about that place. Although he had been undercover in Water Seven for nearly five years, he was still receiving intelligence updates.
However, the information he received was not detailed; he was only informed of significant events, and nothing related to Daggerlish Kingdom had come his way.
There was no need to know other minor details.
He had not noticed any major changes regarding Daggerlish Kingdom in the newspapers either.
So why was the destination Daggerlish Kingdom?
Was it the end point? What exactly was the organization at the destination?
In this world, only high-ranking officials of the World Government would have the capability to know such information, but they wouldn’t use this method.
Aside from that, perhaps only the Revolutionary Army could manage to obtain such information.
Or maybe the Four Emperors and a few large pirate crews.
As Lucci contemplated the identity of the mastermind behind this, the captain approached and said, "Mr. Lucci, the wind is getting stronger. How about we go rest in the cabin?"
Lucci glanced at the captain, initially intending to refuse, but then nodded and replied, "Alright."
The captain led Lucci down from the deck and into the cabin, entering a room. "You can rest here for a while. We will reach Daggerlish Kingdom in two hours."
"Alright."
Lucci stepped into the room, only to find it empty. He closed the door behind him and sat on the edge of the bed, searching through his belongings.
No information.
Was he being overly suspicious? Was it just a chance to rest?
Lucci sat there, frowning in thought.
It seemed he would have to wait until they arrived to find out more.
He sighed and tried to relax, but remained alert at all times.
Time passed slowly, and before long, it was afternoon.
With his eyes closed, Lucci was resting when suddenly, there was a loud crash. The entire ship jolted violently, swaying back and forth.
What was happening?
Lucci's body lurched to one side of the cabin, but he quickly extended a finger to brace himself against the ship's wall, stabilizing his position.
What was going on?
Lucci pushed the door open and stepped outside.
The next moment, he was confronted with a scene that left him in disbelief.
The ship was splitting apart.
In the middle of the corridor, the vessel had torn completely in two, with only a small section at the rear still connected. However, as the ship began to sink, that connection was gradually breaking as well.
The half of the ship he stood on was tilting downward into the water.
What on earth had happened?
Why was the ship breaking apart?
Lucci observed the gaping crack and noticed a large hole there.
Based on the direction of the tear and the size of the hole, it seemed something had collided with it—at least a sea creature sixty to seventy meters long.
But the question remained: why had the keel broken? What kind of fish possessed such power?
Lucci's expression was one of confusion, but as the Sea Vessel continued to sink, he pushed off with his toes and vanished in an instant. He reappeared on the deck, looking around.
Several figures had fallen into the water; some were panicking while others clung to the mast. The captain was ordering people to lower the lifeboats.
Lucci approached the edge of the ship and peered into the water below, only to find nothing unusual lurking beneath the surface.
Leave the ship first.
Lucci leaped to the Mast, his right hand striking out in an instant.
Crack.
The Mast fell directly into the sea, floating on the surface.
Lucci stepped onto the Mast, stabilizing himself.
The crew members who had fallen into the water saw the Mast and immediately swam over, clinging to it.
Lucci did not stop them; instead, he pulled them all up.
It would be difficult for him to return alone. As a Devil Fruit User, once he fell in, it would be a serious problem.
Standing on the Mast, Lucci waited quietly.
The ship slowly sank, and on the Surface of the Sea, there were only a few wooden barrels, one Mast, and two boats.
"Captain, did you see what damaged the ship?"
Lucci jumped onto the boat and asked the captain.
"No, others..."
The captain looked around, and a crew member said, "I was on lookout duty at the time. I saw a dark shadow underwater that collided directly with the ship."
"A dark shadow? Describe it," Lucci asked, turning to the crew member.
Scratching his head, the crew member replied, "It was completely black, with a dorsal fin similar to a shark's. It was enormous, had a large head, and a relatively thin tail. That's all I saw."
"A thin tail?" Lucci questioned, puzzled. "Was there no caudal fin?"
The crew member shook his head. "No, I can confirm that. From above, I only saw the thin shadow of the tail."
"This kind of creature..."
Lucci felt confused. Most sea fish and Sea Beasts had caudal fins.
Fish without caudal fins were rare; while some were peculiar, they did exist—like eels, which had only a small caudal fin that looked almost nonexistent.
But the problem was that eels did not have dorsal fins as large as what he had just heard.
Lucci remained perplexed, unsure of what kind of creature this could be. He turned to the captain and asked, "What should we do next?"
"Let's head toward Water Seven. I'll contact someone to come meet us there. Plus, there are several islands nearby that I'm familiar with where we can rest."
The captain said this as he pulled out a Transponder Snail from his pocket and dialed a number.
At that moment, Lucci's ears perked up. Suddenly, he sprang into action, leaping high into the air.
In the next moment, he saw a dark shadow shooting towards him from a distance, accompanied by the gradual emergence of a dorsal fin.
It moved at an incredible speed, and as the fin surfaced, it collided with the ship.
With a crash, the ship shattered, and those on board were thrown into the air.
"Is it you?"
Looking down at the figure beneath him, Lucci recognized his opponent—the massive horns, the towering dorsal fin, and the legs on either side of its body.
It could only be that Sea Monster from Alabasta, the one that had killed the Demon Spider Vice Admiral.
Is Nico Robin coming after me?
With her abilities, she might just be capable of this.
Seeing this scene, Lucci gritted his teeth, kicked his legs in mid-air, and leaped high. His body swelled and transformed into a towering three-and-a-half-meter tall Leopard Man.
He clenched his fists in front of him, then flipped his body around, taking a deep breath before kicking off with both legs, shooting downward.
Six Styles Secret Technique: King of the Six Kings Spear. Maximum Wheel Six Kings Spear.
This was his most powerful move, capable of piercing through thick city walls.
However, this was his first time using this move in the air, and in such an environment, he could not fully utilize it. He could only rely on the force of his body falling to execute it, which caused significant harm to himself.
This Sea King had even killed the Demon Spider Vice Admiral, and he was not necessarily a match for it.
Therefore, he had to use his strongest attack against it.
Lucci descended and lunged at Xiaqiu. As he got closer, he clenched his fists tightly and struck violently at Xiaqiu's head.
Shatter its skull and kill it.
This was Lucci's only chance for survival.
Boom.
His fist landed on Xiaqiu's forehead, producing a deafening sound as shockwaves radiated outward, causing the waves to explode.
Crack.
Lucci's arms shattered instantly, his body flying high into the air as he coughed up blood and slowly fell to the ground.
How is this possible?
The power of this Sea King was immense. Although the force of the impact just now was slightly stronger than his Six King Pikes, the problem was that its forward momentum had nearly been exhausted.
It had smashed through a ship and traveled a short distance, its speed slowing as it was about to enter the sea.
Realizing that it was under attack, it merely lifted its head and charged upward.
It is known that water provides buoyancy, but it cannot support the body, making it difficult to exert full force.
However, the upward motion it made unleashed an incredible amount of power, something even the Giant Sea King might struggle to achieve.
Not only that, its head was exceptionally hard, harder than iron; at least a piece of Iron Body could be shattered with confidence.
Yet, it could not inflict even a scratch.
I anticipated its strength, but I never expected it to be this formidable.
How could there be such powerful Sea Kings?
No wonder the Demon Spider Vice Admiral met his end.
From this perspective, it seemed that Nico Robin intended to kill me.
But how did she learn about me? How did she know about the Pluto and its location?
She must have infiltrated the World Government, or someone betrayed me; this was a terrifying reality.
And if she truly possessed information about Pluto...
Lucci suddenly felt a wave of fear. A single Cannonball could obliterate an island with Pluto, and combined with the Sea Kings in the water, even a Vice Admiral would stand no chance against them.
With Nico Robin's hatred towards the World Government, it might face the greatest crisis in history.
Lucci tried to stabilize himself in the air using Moon Step, but he coughed up a mouthful of blood and fell into the sea.
"It's over."
Lucci knew he was doomed. As a Devil Fruit User, he was powerless underwater. He could barely move his arms, but he stood no chance against the Sea Kings.
His body plummeted downward, awaiting death.
He had set up a contingency plan; if he did not return, at least it would alert the others in P9 and perhaps even draw the attention of the World Government to this matter.
His death could bring about a significant crisis surfacing above the water, which was worth it.
As for his demise, it was simply because he was too weak.
Lucci thought as he slowly closed his eyes.
However, unexpectedly, a submarine slowly rose beside him.
A submarine?
Lucci opened his eyes and stared at the Submarine, finding it somewhat familiar.
The submarine surfaced and then opened its hatch. Several figures jumped down into the water, swimming towards him and grasping his form as they headed for the surface of the sea.
"Not killing myself?"
Then at the Surface of the Sea, I will have my chance.
Lucci thought, holding his breath, but at that moment, the submarine dove again, submerging into the water. The two figures grabbed him and brought him above the Submarine.
They were still beneath the Water Surface, but in a position higher up, there was a massive cage.
What is this?
Lucci felt confused as he was pushed inside and the door of the cage was locked behind him.
Then the Submarine slowly ascended, water pouring out of the cage. Once the cage was completely above the Water Surface and the water had drained away,
Lucci realized what this cage was.
Without the seawater, he still felt utterly powerless. This cage was made of Seastone.
It seemed they didn't want him dead; their goal was to capture him.
Lucci snorted softly, but then his eyes narrowed. If that were the case, he might not necessarily die.
On the contrary, P9 might even have a chance to catch all the masterminds behind this.
Lucci closed his eyes, waiting to reach his destination.
All the crew members were swallowed by the Sea Kings at the location they had just left.
