Chapter 130: The Island of Antiquity
This is a vast island, home to towering volcanoes, dense jungles, and an untouched environment.
In the center of the island flows a river, winding deep into its heart.
On either side of the river stand tall trees, forming a continuous expanse. Their massive canopies obscure the waterway above, blocking the sunlight and casting a shadowy gloom over the area.
Suddenly, a colossal figure emerged from behind the trees, accompanied by a thunderous sound as it came into view.
A massive head with sharp teeth filled its wide mouth.
It had two short forelimbs and two powerful hind limbs.
A long, muscular tail trailed behind it, its brown skin taut over bulging muscles.
This was a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
It approached the riverbank, lowering its head to drink from the water.
But just as it bent down, the surface of the water erupted. A gigantic creature leaped from the depths, opening its enormous jaws to clamp down on the dinosaur's neck, engulfing its chest in one swift motion.
With a crunch, its teeth closed around the T. Rex's neck and chest, severing them cleanly as blood gushed forth.
The monstrous figure then slowly crawled onto the water's surface—a creature approximately fifty meters long, resembling a crocodile but with six legs.
It crushed the T. Rex's skull and swallowed it whole, devouring one of its legs and part of its body.
Full.
Xiaqiu felt a fullness in its belly; this Tyrannosaurus Rex weighed at least ten tons, and it had consumed five tons of it.
There was still half of the body left, and it couldn't go to waste.
Xiaqiu dragged it into the sea and swam toward the distance.
Surrounding sea fish were attracted by the scent of blood, flocking in, but by the time they arrived, Xiaqiu had already left.
It reached a nearby island, where Xiaqiu placed the remaining body of the Tyrannosaurus Rex on the shore and then lay down beside it. Soon after, Heat Flow appeared, spreading outwards.
The Heat Flow was substantial, comparable to the giant beast islands where Moo Moo resided, even slightly more than that of F-Crocodile.
That was enough.
Xiaqiu's next plan was to consume dinosaurs, primarily to change its legs.
Currently, Xiaqiu's legs inherited those of F-Crocodile. The legs of F-Crocodile were different from those of ordinary crocodiles; ordinary crocodiles had both segments flat on the ground, with the second segment tightly pressed against the surface, resembling an inverted L shape.
In contrast, F-Crocodile's legs could be propped up; the second segment was vertical to the ground and could move forward.
It was akin to a plank position or a push-up with bent arms, in a kneeling or squatting stance.
Xiaqiu had inherited F-Crocodile's legs, but it wasn't enough.
Xiaqiu hoped for its legs to be propped up, with knees pointing outward instead of forward; this would bring many benefits.
The first benefit was an increased stride. F-Crocodile's legs still formed right angles, relying solely on the second segment to support its body while moving forward with the first segment to propel the second.
This led to limited distance with each step, while standing upright significantly increased the distance covered with each movement.
The second advantage was that it required less force during movement.
F-Crocodile's legs concentrated the body's weight on the muscles of the first segment when moving forward, while supporting the body relied on the muscles of the second segment.
By straightening the legs, the force was distributed along the entire leg, including the bones and knees.
It was similar to doing push-ups; bending the arms was more tiring than keeping them straight.
Walking while squatting was also more exhausting than walking while standing.
The third advantage was better control, allowing for easy changes in direction.
Of course, the downside was the stress on the knees and joints, which could lead to joint damage. However, this occurred over a long period, and Xiaqiu could eat to heal injuries, so it could be temporarily overlooked.
Thus, Xiaqiu needed to develop stronger legs based on this foundation, targeting large six-legged mammals or reptiles.
Near Whiskey Peak lay an ancient island that remained isolated from the world, preserving its primitive state and housing Dinosaurs.
The legs of Dinosaurs were incredibly strong, capable of supporting their massive bodies. Some Dinosaurs walked upright and could sustain their great weight solely on their hind limbs.
Consequently, Xiaqiu chose Dinosaurs as a means to evolve its legs through consumption.
The garden was filled with various Dinosaurs: Archaeopteryx, Pterosaur, Sharktooth Dragon, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Brachiosaurus, Argentinosaurus, Triceratops, and more.
Among these, Tyrannosaurus Rex and Sharktooth Dragon (Spinosaurus) could move solely on their hind limbs.
Tyrannosaurus Rex was Xiaqiu's top priority target.
The length of the Tyrannosaurus Rex is not the longest among carnivorous dinosaurs, but its body width, neck vertebra width, large pelvis, and broad shoulder blades surpass those of other carnivorous dinosaurs of similar size. Particularly notable are its legs, which are robust and tall; in terms of both strength and length, they are the largest among similarly sized species.
A Tyrannosaurus Rex stands six meters tall, with a hip height that can even reach five meters.
Relying on its two legs, a Tyrannosaurus Rex can support a maximum weight of fifteen tons over a distance of fifteen meters.
Moreover, its unique structure allows for better balance and load-bearing capacity in its legs, making it easier to support its powerful body.
The significant weight of Xiaqiu requires not only changes in leg structure but also adaptations in the skeletal and neck vertebrae.
If it could evolve legs like those of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, its mobility would increase, allowing for greater speed.
At the same time, this would free up its tentacles, providing them with ample room to move.
This way, its combat power could potentially double.
Of course, the number of Tyrannosaurus Rex on the island is limited, so Xiaqiu primarily relies on them while using upright walking dinosaurs as support, with other dinosaurs serving as energy sources.
As for whether there are enough dinosaurs on the island, even Dongli and Broki have managed to survive for a hundred years by feeding on dinosaurs; having one more wouldn’t make much difference.
Whether it’s one or two every year, within a year it could complete its transformation.
However, caution is necessary; while dinosaurs are not to be feared, the ancient island still poses dangers.
First are Dongli and Broki, two giants who serve as captains of the Giant Soldier Pirate Crew. Their strength is terrifying, possessing rich combat experience and high-level fighting skills, along with special techniques that allow them to jointly defeat enormous Island Eaters.
Their strength is at least at the Vice Admiral level. On this land, lacking mobility makes it even more difficult to overcome them.
Secondly, there’s the Island Eater to the east of the ancient island. It feeds on islands, and its droppings are as large as islands themselves. Encountering it would only lead to certain death.
Xiaqiu had no intention of heading to the eastern seas and chose to remain active on the western side of the Ancient Island.
After waiting for a while and driving away a few beasts drawn by the scent of blood, Xiaqiu, feeling hungry again, consumed the remaining body of the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Once the Heat Flow dissipated, Xiaqiu left the island and returned to the island where Bola was located.
The sources of food and evolutionary direction had been determined, and Enhanced Energy was now available.
The only thing left was Baroque Works. Currently, Baroque Works was still relatively weak and needed to grow stronger to meet its own needs.
To strengthen Baroque Works, the first step was to raise more funds.
