Chapter Fifty-Four: Arlong
Xiaqiu charged back into the battlefield, and for the first time, Arlong felt a sense of fear at the sight of him.
He realized he was no match for Xiaqiu and could not hope to defeat him.
Getting closer would do him no good; how could he possibly overcome such an opponent?
For the first time, Arlong was struck by an overwhelming sense of invincibility emanating from Xiaqiu.
But just as he hesitated, Xiaqiu surged straight toward him.
This time, his target was Arlong.
At that moment, there were only three Fishmen left on the battlefield: Arlong, Hachi, and a Fish Soldier. Among them, Arlong was the strongest, the fastest, and possessed the highest Enhanced Energy.
Xiaqiu's primary target was Arlong; there was no way he would let him escape.
So Xiaqiu locked his sights on Arlong.
"Is he aiming for me?"
Seeing Xiaqiu charging forward, Arlong momentarily extinguished any thoughts of fleeing and prepared to fight instead.
With Xiaqiu still over ten meters away, Arlong immediately dodged, pushing off with his legs and darting to the right.
"Trying to escape?"
Xiaqiu immediately turned around, chasing after Arlong.
At this distance, Xiaqiu was still able to change direction and had not lost track of Arlong.
Arlong continued to retreat, with Xiaqiu's head brushing against his body, narrowly avoiding being caught.
At that moment, Hachi lunged forward, targeting the area beneath Xiaqiu, aiming for the pelvic fin near the tail.
Xiaqiu was unperturbed, slightly tilting to the side. The massive Pectoral Fin was aimed at Arlong, while its tentacles spread out to the right and shot backward.
Arlong could not evade Xiaqiu's Pectoral Fin. It was approximately eight meters long, making up about twenty percent of its body—larger than the fifteen percent of a Blue Whale and significantly more than that of a shark.
Instead of dodging, Arlong reached out with both hands and grabbed onto the side of the Pectoral Fin.
Bang.
Arlong was struck by the Pectoral Fin but managed to secure a grip on its inner part, about two meters away from Xiaqiu's body.
"Rip off your Pectoral Fin."
Arlong exerted a slight force, but Xiaqiu continued to surge forward at high speed, forcing Arlong to hold on tightly to the Pectoral Fin.
Meanwhile, Hachi had reached Xiaqiu's abdomen and prepared to attack, only to discover that Xiaqiu's belly was covered in four layers of sharp spines.
To attack oneself inevitably leads to injury.
Arlong had adapted to Xiaqiu's movements and was about to strike with force.
In that instant, the tentacles were already upon him.
Two Tentacles lashed out directly at Arlong's body, while another two shot towards Hachi.
This is bad.
Arlong felt the vibrations beneath him and realized the tentacles were coming. He quickly tried to dodge, but he was pinned down by Pectoral Fin and couldn't move upwards. Instead, he slid downwards, placing his right foot against Xiaqiu's body.
Arlong stood at a towering height of two meters six, compressing his body to fit within the two-meter space, and stepped onto the area just below Xiaqiu's gills.
With a whoosh, Arlong propelled himself along Xiaqiu's Pectoral Fin, continuously evading Xiaqiu's tentacles.
However, Xiaqiu's Tentacles were too long, reaching up to twelve meters. As Arlong moved away from the edge of the Pectoral Fin, one of the Tentacles struck him.
Arlong did not panic; instead, he spun to the right and narrowly avoided the lash of the Tentacle.
Hachi flew backward to evade the incoming tentacle, barely escaping its grasp.
However, Xiaqiu also passed between them, creating distance.
Another failure.
Xiaqiu felt a bit irritated; these two just kept dodging and wouldn't fight back, leaving her with no options.
Arlong and Hachi were equally frustrated.
Attacking was impossible; there was nowhere to strike.
The Front had sharp teeth and horns, dorsal fins and spikes on its back, tentacles on its belly, and more spikes on its rear. Its tentacles could also launch attacks.
From the side, it could lash out, making it difficult to land a hit due to its body structure.
"Running away?"
Arlong suddenly noticed that another Fish Soldier in the distance was stealthily retreating from the battlefield.
His strength was weak, and facing Xiaqiu, he couldn't even dodge, so he chose to flee directly.
Was it just him and Hachi left now?
A sense of melancholy filled Arlong's heart.
At that moment, Xiaqiu spun around and swam downward, disappearing into the depths of the sea.
"Has she left?"
Ba paused for a moment, looking in the direction of Xiaqiu.
"We need to move quickly."
Arlong, his body covered in blood, shouted as he urged Ba to swim ahead.
After they had traveled a distance, a sudden tremor shook beneath them.
Xiaqiu burst forth from below once more, attacking the two of them.
"Finished eating, now I come for you."
Having consumed a two-ton shark, Xiaqiu charged at them again, ready to engage in battle.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
With each impact from Xiaqiu, Arlong and Ba dodged just in time, avoiding serious injuries but sustaining cuts and bruises.
The continuous injuries drained their stamina.
Xiaqiu was confident that as long as this continued, wearing them down to death would be no problem.
"Boss, what should we do next?"
Ba stood beside Arlong, panting as he gazed at the distant figure of Xiaqiu.
"We are no match for him. If this continues, we will all die."
Arlong squinted his eyes and said, "You run directly when the time comes. I'll hold him off."
"Run?"
Eight looked at Arlong, surprised that the captain would let him escape. He replied, "I don't want to run."
"If you don't run, we'll both die here," Arlong said coldly.
Eight anxiously said, "Then I'll stay and block him. You run, Captain."
"Can you really stop him?" Arlong shot him a sideways glance.
Eight lowered his head and said, "I..."
Arlong coldly replied, "You didn't bring a weapon. You can't even hurt him, let alone stop him."
"Then let's fight him."
Eight shouted in anger, "If I'm going to die, I want to die with Arlong."
"Idiot! We've already lost many members of our Pirate Crew. Do you want to see the entire crew wiped out?" Arlong glared at Eight and said, "This is the best outcome. If you stay behind, you won't be able to stop him, but if I stay behind, I can give you a chance to live."
"Captain..."
Eight was unwilling to accept this outcome.
Arlong looked at Nonsense and said, "I need you to go back with the remaining Fish Soldiers to Fishman Island. Arei and the others don't like to take action against humans, so I left them behind. And you also don't like to act against humans, so you will survive and take them back to Fishman Island."
"I understand."
Eight nodded, preparing to leave.
But at that moment, Arlong said, "Don't head straight for Zoumeida Island. I might not be able to hold out until you return to the island; his speed is far greater than yours. Also, be careful; he has ways to track us. However, the distance is limited; I estimate it's about a thousand meters. So first, head towards Jumeda Islands, create some distance, then change direction and find a place to hide for a while before returning to the island from the back of Zoumeida Island."
"Arlong."
Upon hearing this, Eight could no longer hold back the tears streaming down his face.
"Get out of here."
Arlong shouted angrily as Xiaqiu rushed toward him.
"Yes."
Eight turned and swam away into the distance.
Meanwhile, Arlong charged straight at Xiaqiu, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
I might not die after all.
"Then let's fight and see who falls first."
...
Ten minutes later, Xiaqiu crushed Arlong's corpse and swallowed it whole.
"What a tough opponent."
Xiaqiu's body was drenched in blood; although not mortally wounded, it had sustained many injuries.
Ten minutes.
After the escape, Xiaqiu and Arlong fought for a full ten minutes.
During this battle, Xiaqiu was more cautious.
Arlong attacked recklessly, aiming to trade injuries for injuries.
Naturally, Xiaqiu could only dodge, leaving numerous wounds on its body, some deep enough to see bone, but none were fatal.
Finally, Arlong was defeated.
This victory would provide Xiaqiu with a massive boost of Enhanced Energy.
However, Xiaqiu had no time to wait.
There are still eight.
Xiaqiu headed towards Zoumeida Island, disappearing at the edge of his own echo location.
In just ten minutes, he would definitely catch up.
Xiaqiu swam towards Zoumeida Island.
