Chapter Thirty-Nine: Injuries
Eight jumped into the water, while Nami lay on the shore, her head peeking out over the coast, intently watching Eight's figure.
As she saw him dive beneath the surface, his form becoming increasingly indistinct in the water, Nami's heart raced with anxiety.
She wondered if the sea creature was still around.
Nami prayed for the sea creature to appear and attack Eight.
However, after a while, nothing emerged; only Eight's blurred silhouette remained.
Just when Nami was beginning to lose hope that the sea creature had left, a dark shadow suddenly streaked across the distance, heading straight for Eight.
It's here.
Nami's eyes lit up, a smile creeping onto her lips as the tumultuous sea churned and the two engaged in a fierce battle.
Defeat him, defeat him.
Nami kept praying, her heart pounding as she felt an overwhelming tension inside her.
Time passed slowly, and soon a figure surfaced, a head appearing right in front of Nami.
"Eight."
Seeing the other person, Nami's heart was filled with disappointment, but a smile remained on her face.
Hachi ignored Nami, hooking his arm on the shore as he climbed out of the water, standing there with blood dripping from his arm.
"Hachi, you're bleeding."
Nami walked over and asked with concern, "Did a shark attack you?"
"That wasn't a shark at all."
Hachi looked at Nami, glaring at her with a dark expression. "That was a massive ocean fish, not your little ten-meter shark."
"But I saw the dorsal fin, the shark's dorsal fin," Nami said, shrinking back slightly and speaking cautiously.
"Dorsal fin?"
Hachi sighed. "Its first dorsal fin does resemble that of a shark."
The first dorsal fin of that ocean fish was scythe-shaped and looked very similar to that of a shark.
"I'm sorry, Hachi."
Nami lowered her head and said, "I misjudged. If I hadn't, you wouldn't have gotten hurt. I thought there were sharks here when I saw the dorsal fin and assumed it attacked them."
"You..."
Ba looked at her and couldn't bring himself to blame her, waving his hand dismissively. "There's nothing we can do if we misjudged."
There were originally sharks here; he had heard about them from the villagers. Given the shape of the dorsal fin, it was possible to make a mistake.
Besides, could Nami really control the sea creatures?
Nami lifted her head, tears glistening in her eyes as she gazed at Nonsense. "Ba, but you're hurt. I... I just think you shouldn't have gone down."

"He got hurt?"
Nami asked nervously, quickly correcting herself. "You didn't kill it, did you? Doesn't that mean it could attack others in the future?"
"There's no need to worry."
"Leave it to me," said Hachi with a smile. "I'll make sure the other Fishmen stay out of the water for now. When Arlong returns, we'll have Crocboy and the others dive in to take him down. If it's just me, he might escape, but with another person, he won't stand a chance."
"That sounds good; it's too dangerous for you to go alone," Nami replied, nodding in agreement with Hachi.
"Let's go."
Hachi waved his hand and started walking into the distance. "The doctor left with Arlong, so we need to find him in the village."
"Okay, I'll go with you," Nami said as she hurried to catch up, glancing at Hachi's back while silently praying that the sea fish would leave and not linger around.
With Hachi alone, he had already severely injured the sea fish; bringing in Crocboy would make it even easier to finish him off.
They needed to leave quickly.

"Damn it," Xiaqiu thought as he drifted further away, pain shooting through his back from his injuries. Blood seeped out, spreading in the ocean as he floated farther and farther.
