Chapter Twenty-Eight: Naval Officer
"It seems that the sea creature has already left."
On the Naval Battleship, several figures stood, three of whom were dressed in Naval Officer uniforms.
One of them was Major Krumey from Branch Base 154, while the other two included a robust middle-aged man wearing a Horn helmet and wielding a massive Shark Slayer Blade, exuding an overwhelming presence.
The other individual appeared to be around forty years old, lean in stature, with a long knife strapped to his waist and an indifferent expression on his face.
The earlier statement had come from this middle-aged Navy officer.
"Colonel Lester, that sea creature has been here for nearly four months, lingering in the surrounding waters. It has only been seven hours since it left; I doubt it would depart so easily," Krumey quickly replied.
Colonel Lester furrowed his brow and turned to the tall man beside him, asking, "Major General Bastien, what do you think?"
"We've already searched for four hours; I don't have time to waste here."
Bastien coldly snorted. "It's just a sea creature that managed to kill a colonel and now expects me to take action personally. Let's head back."
With that statement, Bastien turned and returned to the ship's cabin.
"Then let's go back," Colonel Lester said, waving his hand for the sailors to turn the battleship around and head back to base.
"Sir," Krumey said anxiously from the side, "without Major General Bastien here, we won't be able to catch that creature."
"But the sea fish is indeed not in this area. After all, Bastien is a Major General at Naval Headquarters; he cannot stay here forever."
Lester looked into the distance and suddenly asked, "Have you ever heard of his name?"
Krumay gently replied, "Shark Slayer Bastiu. Colonel Lido once mentioned him and held him in high regard."
"Lido worked under Lord Bastien before coming to East Sea Base; otherwise, Major General Bastien wouldn't have come here personally."
Lester's gaze was distant as he said, "For him, even the Sea Kings are just fish on a chopping board. Countless Sea Kings have died at his hands; a mere sea fish wouldn't even catch his attention."
"The strength of the Major General at headquarters is indeed formidable," Krumay sighed.
Lester nodded and said, "Moreover, he has already been included in the promotion list for Vice Admiral. However, in the recent Vice Admiral assessment, his military achievements fell behind Major General Stoloberry, so Naval Headquarters arranged for Stoloberry to be promoted to Vice Admiral. But as long as his achievements are sufficient, it's a sure thing that he will become a Vice Admiral, probably in three or four years."
"Stoloberry?" Krumay was unfamiliar with that name.
Lester smiled and said, "He is an important aide to Vice Admiral Borsalino. Last year, he attacked the Sun Pirates and severely injured their captain, Fischer Tiger. Shortly after, Fischer died from his injuries."
"That Sun Pirates? He injured the captain of the Sun Pirates?" Krumay's eyes widened in surprise.
Lester nodded and said, "Five years ago, a Major General named Kadarou led soldiers to attack the Sun Pirates but ended up with total annihilation. According to reports, Fischer did not kill Kadarou but went missing afterward. A year ago, Stoloberry managed to heavily injure Fischer; although some say it was a sneak attack, regardless of how it happened, his strength and military achievements are already enough for him to be promoted to Vice Admiral."
Krumay asked, "I remember the current captain of the Sun Pirates seems to be one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea; they were recently quite public about it."
Lester smiled and said, "That's right. Recently, Jinbei of the Sun Pirates became the captain and accepted the government's offer to become one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. The government recruited him not only because of his qualifications but also to promote harmony among races and resolve tensions with the Fishmen."
Krumai curiously asked, "Were you just Borsalino Vice Admiral? It seems like now you are..."
"That's right. He was just promoted this year, becoming one of the three Admirals, known as Kizaru."
Lester smiled and said, "Stoloberry becoming a Vice Admiral is also largely thanks to Admiral Kizaru's strong recommendation."
"I see."
Krumai nodded, realizing there were so many connections involved.
Lester glanced at Krumai and said, "I know you want to avenge Colonel Lido, but the sea fish isn't in this area. Finding a fish in the ocean is harder than finding an ant on an island."
"I... I understand."
Krumai replied with a somber expression.
Seeing his demeanor, Lester couldn't help but nod; he had a good impression of him.
He was loyal, searching for the sea fish day and night to avenge Colonel Lido, often sleeping only three or four hours at a time.
Although his loyalty was directed towards his former superior, who was now deceased, he had the capability and was deeply committed. Colonel Lester came to the 154 Branch Base with plans to make good use of him.
He had already decided that after a year, he would apply for the position of Major for Krumai.

Xiaqiu swam through the depths of the sea, heading away from the island. Its massive form startled other sea creatures, causing them to scatter in all directions.
Xiaqiu paid no attention to the smaller fish; their size was far too insignificant to satisfy his hunger.
However, as Xiaqiu ventured deeper, he encountered several sea fish measuring two to three meters in length. Upon spotting Xiaqiu, they immediately scattered in all directions.
These fish weighed around two to three hundred pounds each. If Xiaqiu managed to catch four or five of them, he would meet his minimum dietary requirements.
Yet, Xiaqiu chose not to hunt them.
The first reason was that he wanted to establish a relatively peaceful area; in this part of the sea, Xiaqiu refrained from predation.
The second reason was that he needed these fish to continue growing. While he wouldn’t eat them himself, they would consume other fish as their food. By eating those fish, they would grow larger, eventually becoming his meal.
This way, the fish could become part of his food chain without him having to exert effort in hunting.
Thus, Xiaqiu ignored them and swam further away.
After traveling a distance, Xiaqiu spotted a few sea fish around four meters long.
He still regarded them as reserve food and continued onward.
It wasn't until he came across a fish approximately seven meters long that he decided to target it as prey.
But just as Xiaqiu approached within a certain distance, the fish panicked and fled.
There was no way he would let it escape.
Xiaqiu swiftly pursued, closing the gap between them with urgency.
But just as Xiaqiu was only three or four meters away from the other party, he sensed vibrations coming from not far away.
There were many of them, and they varied in size.
Shark School?
Xiaqiu frowned and surfaced, looking into the distance. He saw a dozen fish leaping out of the water, then diving back in, heading toward the other side of the island.
Their agile bodies shimmered beautifully under the sunlight, their continuous leaps making them appear lively and spirited.
Seeing them, Xiaqiu's eyes brightened slightly.
Dolphins.
